Star Wars Episode VII

Discuss! Do you think this has potential? How do you feel about things changing hands from the money twi'lek George Lucas ? How do you feel about ANOTHER episode in the SW franchise? A chance to be redeemed - or a last nail in the proverbial space coffin?

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

I love it.
More Star Wars films is a good thing, no matter who makes them.
Less Lucas wookiee around with Sithspit that works perfectly fine, is a good thing.
I kriff' love Star Wars. Even with all the teddy-bear murderers, Jar-Jars, whinging emo Sithboys, and lame Fett deaths.
MOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAARRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Said it before, and will say it again; my only bum-twitching is coming from... if they continue the Luke/Leia/Han etc story... what story that works with, or whether it goes a new path (not against that either), and also who they get to play these iconic roles (can still work, let's face it, the only one we'd REALLY miss out of the original lot is Ford).

Disney have done a lot of good Sithspit, and with Sci Fi genres too. They have the clout to make it awesome, and are smart enough to make sure they do it right. Lucas this last few years, for me, has treated the franchise more like a pension fund than a work of art. He was too much of a perfectionist when it came to the stuff he had already done, and he ended up making it worse for most of us. He still has creative input, which isn't a bad thing, just has less of a Palpatinesque overlord role with it.

Sure it might be Sithspit. MIGHT.
But equally this could be the best thing to happen in a long time.

Until we walk out the cinema from that first new episode.... it's all speculation at this juncture.

Me? I'm keeping an open mind, and bouncing in my kriff seat with excitement.
I'm a Star Wars fan; its warts n all.
I can't kriff wait.

OYA!

Well said Darth Malus. Minus the seat-bouncing and bum-twitching. Asgardians do neither.

I'm excited for these new movies. Disney have really come out with some good movies, and I doubt they will stop or begin to slacken now that they have a whole new franchise to work with.

With all the CGI they are going to put in the new trilogy, they might as well hand it over to Pixar.

Well...considering Disney bought Marvel in 2009, and every Marvel movie since then has been spectacular, I have pretty high hopes...so long as Lucas keeps his mitts out of it.

This will either be the best thing that has ever happened in Star Wars or the worst. Only time will tell.

I'd go and see it regardless.

Nothing can be worse than a cartoon Jar-Jar being mistaken for a Jedi Knight. Or Ashoka Tano. Nothing can be worse than those. *knocks on wood*

define "joke".

first you had ewoks, cuddly teddy bear children who beat the Empire's best troops after they kicked Rebel choobies in Empire Strikes Back, then you had Jar Jar, that rodder, then Hayden Christensen [action:3bcskgv3]shudders[/action:3bcskgv3] and Ahsoka, battle droids acting as comic relief rebelling against their leaders (I thought that wasn't supposed to be able to happen), and Mandalorian pacifism. the only thing worse than all that is the constant Lucas editing. the series has gotten progressively bad, now maybe it will be better with Disney, but time has shown us that Disney likes to take a great idea, thrown it in the blender, and hit the puree button over and over and over again, then proceeds to feed this concoction to it's fans just to watch the explosive diarhea that ensues with glee

*counter-counter-counters with Tron and Tron Legacy & PoTC*

Lets face it some people are never going to like these films whoever had the rights to make them because they won't be perfect to what we imagine. However I'm excited just as I was before the prequels came out because its STAR WARS AND STAR WARS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

Anyone who whines or argues about Disney buying Lucasfilm.... should watch (warning: adult language) and think about whether they want to be associated with such people.

Star Wars..... is why we are here.

There's always elements we wont like, but the big picture.....
is that Star Wars is our love...
our passion...
our inspiration for kriff being here in the first place, right?

Piss and moan about a new trilogy all you like, but (said it before, say it again).....
I'm a Star Wars fan, and I'm kriff ecstatic!

OYA!

Re: Star Wars Episode VII

You can love Star Wars and still dislike what happened with the prequels and The Clone Wars...

However, as I already said, I'm cautiously optimistic about what Disney plans to do, and will definitely watch their movies as they come out.
