Re: Office of the Editor

welcome on board. btw, i won't have anything in for this week's edition of the HNN (will try get something for next week).

EDIT: actually, i got something:
SLOW NEWS DAY

*The Camera fades in on Torque and Roseline behind the Chiss News Network news desk*

*A recording plays* War has gripped Gotham City! Long time rivals Dominos Pizza and Pizza Hut clashed outside the city this morning at 1145am. We go to you live now where our lead reporter AJ Reed is on the scene. AJ?

Thank you Bryan! If you look behind me you can see the two forces down below on the field. Local law enforcements bagan reviecing frantic calls at 1130am local time. Reports state that residents began hearing yelling and screaming. Police arrived on the scene to find both parties taking up positions on the field behind me. What began as a minor disagreement on delivery zones has now turned into a messy fight.

Reports state that both forces are armed with pizza cutters, dough scrapers, pizza pokers and pizza sheets. It wasn't until around 1pm when Dominos Pizza brought up catapults and began hammering the Pizza Hut lines with dough balls. If you look to my left you can see that Dominos has set up its line along the ridge infront of the city while Pizza Hut has made its line along the tree line to my right.

While police have made every effort to put an end to this fight, the battle has taken a more severe turn. Not more than an hour ago Pizza Hut called up its reserves and McDonalds reinforcments showed up launching a withering barrage of Big Macs on the Dominos line. The Dominos line is faultering and as you can see some are even runing back towards the city.

It looks as if CEO Patrick Doyle is riding down the hill rallying his forces to stay strong. Juan focus on Patrick! Yes it seems that he is trying to rally his forces and its working. As you can see that the lines are starting to reform! Look! Towards the west! Taco Bell has come to the aid of Dominos and they are now sweeping down like a door on Pizza Huts left flank!

The lines are faultering and now Patrick Doyle is leading his forces in a full on charge! Pizza Hut has just called for retreat and now McDonalds is following! What an amazing turn of events! Wait.....wait....they are coming right at us!!! Ladies and gentlemen this is AJ Reed with HoloNet News brin*transmission cuts out to an incoming barrage of Volcano Tacos and dough balls*
*The camera fades back to a close up of Torque*

Re: Office of the Editor

Dragus says he doesn't feel like doing it any more, Drach says he's busy, Shakk deleted his account, and I have no idea about the others.

On a side note, Bulthos Dorrir joined the news team, but we need more writers.

Re: Office of the Editor

i'll cover the Lord Cygnus service for the next edition (unless someone is already taking care of it).

I'll also get a story posted in a moment for this weeks edition.

Part of the problem i guess is the amount of writers. But a much bigger problem is finding material and leads for stories to write... (which we need the help of JvS for)

Re: Office of the Editor

I'ma working on the GBA one, but it might have to be an insta post, the round is over I am just waiting for one of the other winners to be decided (I moved on btw).

My thought was have a write in contest, Have others try to "predict" the winner, and the best reviews of the fight we find will get put on the next edition... since I can't obviously take part in the guessing of the winner.

Re: Office of the Editor

well we have been rather inactive for some time, so I think it's time for a new surge :D
this is mostly due to some interest generated in chat.

I would like to suggest a couple idea's:
1. HNN changes from a weekly release to a monthly release. This would give reporters more time to interview people and we would have bigger releases as a months worth of events would have happened. Weekly releases only gave a short time to get stuff gathered together and they got smaller as we went along.

2. a new editor is elected, as was pointed out, Kage hasn't been on since Feb and his last post was Aug last year.

that's about it, otherwise everything else seems to work fine...

Re: Office of the Editor

I'd just like to formally welcome every old and new back to the HNN. As you are aware we will be working towards monthly releases for the HNN, giving you plenty of time to track down stories, interview people and get a good report in for the release, which will be happening at the end of every month (the due date will be at least 4 days before the end of each month).

Hopefully will be aiming to get a report out by the end of April, which I am sure we will be all capable all :)
If you have any questions, feel free to PM me or post here.
In the mean time, good luck and have fun :D

cheers,
Rebecca

Re: Office of the Editor

Chumba the Ewok reporting in.

First off I would like to say congratulations to Rebecca on the editor promotion. After your participation in the last reboot and willingness to give this another go, I'd say it is well deserved.

That said, I did have an idea for an article. Two actually.

Okay, so the Sith Empire had their joining party/meeting on Korriban recently. It may even still be going on, I haven't really taken a serious look at it yet. On Honoghr the Jedi are having a meeting as well.

I was thinking that maybe one of us could talk to Sinistra and see if she would be willing to answer some questions IC. Like we would PM her a list of questions our reporter would supposedly be asking her, and she would respond to them in character. Sending her a list of a couple would probably be faster than going back and forth, though I am not sure when you want to get the first edition out so maybe there would be time to do it that way.

Likewise, one of us would talk to Adi and do the same thing. That way we get a perspective from both the Jedi and the Sith about what is going on with their respective empire/republic building.

They both are usually pretty good about this sort of thing so I think they would be willing to participate in an interview.

Re: Office of the Editor

Thanks Chumba, It means a lot :D

and that sounds like a pretty awesome idea. I'm hoping to get a first report out by April 30th, so the interviews would need to be in by the 27th. I'm sure that should be plenty of time to get that all done by...
I guess we can take Sin and Adi between the two of us, you can pick first :P

Re: Office of the Editor

*Bounces in with recklessness belying a droid... But not unusual for anybody who's run into the 665 tag in chat :P*

CUKES FOR EVERY-oh wait, this isn't the VSE board... Come to think of it, the VSE doesn't exist anymore... I am now saddened.

But suddenly I'm ok.

BECAUSE I HAVE ACCESS!!!

Also, I had some ideas of my own...

I was thinking about doing an interview with whoever wins the challenge for Mand'alore, as well, and putting that under the Politics section.

As well as asking for comment from the leaders of any and all groups of Force-Using people's leaders; Sin, and whatever Jedi leaders there are out there.

We got a list of that kind of stuff around here? Disadvantage of the enthusiastic newbie-not knowing who's who...

And the eventual droid assault when it comes. That nobody knows about yet... Shhhhh......

Additionally, two queries. Will we have chair heads for each individual department?

And will we have a "potential story submission" topic for people to send us stuff, like the formation of the SE, etc etc. so that we're not forced to rely on scouring the OOC boards, the RP boards, and stray comments in chat?

Re: Office of the Editor

It would be a good story to include with regards to an interview with the winner of the Mand'alore challenge.
Usually you can scour the usergroup list to see which people are set to leaders. Otherwise ask around.
As yet we have no official list, but I am sure one could be put together.

There won't be any department heads at this stage, as our team is currently fairly small, so we will be dabbling into all departments. We may later on if our team gets big enough.

And as far as "potential story submissions" go, as the HNN grows in fame again, people can come and post in the thread. On top of that, as you become more well known, people will tend to potentially PM you with a lead. It's also a good idea to make yourself known to people. I'll look into posting a Thread where we can list the reporters so people can see us (might put it either in the Letters to the Editor section or in the HoloNet News Network area)

Re: Office of the Editor

Caril or Kage usually covered the "Meet the Whills" section of the report when they were around. Should we continue doing that for the monthly editions? If so, there have since been two new additions to the whills that would probably be willing to answer some questions with their usual degree of silliness.

is usually on every day, or so I have noticed. I bet you dollars to donuts he would be interested.

is the newest one. I don't know much about her yet but she too might be willing to answer some questions.

Dude, no joke, I just bugged Odin about that last night. No lie. He said he'd love to do an interview.

So who we wanna do first? And who will do the interview first?
