Who plans on licking the next issue? I didn't think that was a standard thing among journalists. Well, regardless, we'll try to make it a good 'lick' like you said, anyway, Iium. : P

Re: The Water Cooler

I liked the first issue, but had a small problem with the attribution of names. I only created an NPC so the the HNN would not interfere with my regular RP. In the future, could whoever publishing this attribute my articles as: Kage Acheron, or Thomas Kand (Kage Acheron)? Thanks!

Will do, Thomas. And while I'm at it, I'll find you a good shrink to help with that case of schizophrenia. :D

Re: The Water Cooler

*As Caril returns to his office, an office-wide message goes out moments later across the intercom*

:: All right. It's a new week. If you haven't already picked a story, you'd better get on that. Same routine as last week - have your stories in by Thursday for editing. I'll be meeting with you all individually throughout the week, so keep an eye out. Let's make this issue even better than the last one!

Also - political writers, you've got a new teammate. Give him a warm welcome when he arrives and show him around a bit. Keep the pranks to a minimum, if you don't mind. We've got a shorter week to work with this time. ::

Re: The Water Cooler

Anyone got an idea for my sports topic? I don't want to do boring old results every week. Well just to clarify for Farn I'll still do results for the GBA but I'd like something a little more fulfilling for a second article.

Ok guys seriously. The deadline is tomorrow and we haven't even had a new post on here since, like, monday. Am I the only one to submit an article or is everyone just pm'ing them and I didn't get the memo?

Oh my Article is on my desk if you didn't know Caril.

Re: The Water Cooler

Hey Team,

Great work getting things rolling this week. I intentionally left you all to your own devices this time around and many of you seem to excel without supervision. Not only a necessary trait here at the HNN but also a good skill for life in general. I'm glad to see you all taking care of business. I have been working closely with you guys lately, so I think its only fair to tell you all that I am officially retiring as a moderator from JvS by the end of this coming weekend. This has been weeks coming, and there is no internal reasons for it, so before the rumor-mill starts grinding, let me tell you all that it is only because I want to get back to focusing on my writing career. I am an aspiring writer, but since JvS, my focus has been here and here alone. I need to step back for a while and try to get my head back into writing. It won't be official until Sunday, so, please, keep this to yourselves. Maybe some day one of you could do a biography on me for the HNN...that would make my day - I'll be available for interviews for the rest of the week, lol! I'll be checking in from time to time, either with my Whill account or my alt. character, to see how you all are doing. Either way, Whill Aegis is my protege and replacement, and he will be more than happy to help you out with anything you need.

Gotta get back to the HoloNet Historical Channel and make sure its all set up to roll.

Cheers, and good luck.

Re: The Water Cooler

:: I saw it, Obachu. And because of the very fact that we don't have many submissions yet, I'm making an executive decision. I'm sure the holiday played a large role this week in the delay, so I'm pushing the deadline to Saturday. I know, that's when we're supposed to publish, but given the circumstances, I think it's fitting. I'll do a quick editing job. Worst case scenario, it gets out a day later than normal, but I'll tack on a note from the editor about the holiday issue to explain it. Next week's issue isn't getting pushed back, however, and there won't be a reason to be late in turning your stories in then, which means you'll have an even shorter week to work with.

We're still getting an issue out this week, so be sure to get your stories in Saturday. There aren't going to be any excuses then. Leave them in my office by then. ::

Re: The Water Cooler

*Another note is posted*

Guys, we need to work on our communication a bit more. Your stories aren't late yet, and I know there were circumstances this week that held things up, but that's no excuse for not saying so. Kand(Acheron) and Daangl let me know that they were going to have difficulty turning in a submission by Thursday, but I didn't hear from any of the rest of you. The only ones I didn't hear from that turned in a story were Jevenson(Kenobi), Coral, and Obachu. Good work, you three. The rest of you, though - we've got standards to meet, and if we're keeping quiet and not getting stories in on time, or even a bit early, we're failing not only the team, but the readers. Just keep that in mind. Don't worry, I'm not losing my nerve with you all; I'm not angry, just concerned. Don't take advantage of the fact that I've been lenient so far. You've had two weeks to get into the swing of things. That's enough of a grace period, if you ask me. This week, there will be consequences if the deadline is missed.

I didn't get around to actually meeting with you guys this past week, but I'll be making up for it this week, after we get the holiday issue out.

Thanks Ak.
I'll miss Whilling, but its time for JvS to take a backseat in my life. I have too many projects I've been putting off for far too long.

I would love to be the subject of the biography section for one of the publications. HNN is kind of my legacy, and it would be great to have a kind of farewell biography before I go. Just sort of an outline of my accomplishments with JvS, and an explanation for my retirement. i don't want the kind of rumors circulating that usually accompanies the retirement of a Whill. If the editor thinks it'll fly, get the biographies reporter to contact me and we'll set up an interview. By this time tomorrow, I'll be retired, so it may make a good addition to this weeks edition.

Cheers,
Iium

Re: The Water Cooler

Ugh, sorry about that, guys. I was under the impression there was going to be a new editor by the time last week's issue was supposed to be put out. I talked to Ak-Akari about it, and was going to try to find a time to squeeze it in on Monday, but it just wasn't going to happen. Between work and finals this past week, I haven't had time to do anything except hop on and check in real quick once in a while. But (thank God) finals are over now.

I take it Ak-Akari won the recount, so I won't need to 'hand over the keys' to someone else again and look stupid in the process, which is always a nice thing. Congrats, Mr. Editor (again). Just let me know where you want me for the next issue, and I'll get to work.

If you want, I can take over bios while Binrax is out on sick leave. I started the "Meet the Whills" thing a couple of weeks ago, and there are plenty more Whills to go before it'll be finished.
