HNN Consults the Whills

ok so, here are some Ideas I want to run by the Whills....



1. We elect an editor, and they have control over the posting thing.....
a. We seperate by month releases, not weeks
b. These releases however can be used whenever. So as soon as an article is ready, we put it on the board for everyone.
c. This turns into more of a "Breaking news" style, more like a daily news show.
d. Anyone can post on any topic, whatever comes to them
e. no need to meet in universe, NPC or regular. This was a hassle, especially if you are stuck in a storyline
f. We need wwwaaaaayyyyyy more peeps.

I think at the moment we have something of a stall for material. No one but a select few want to devote time to submitting material to the HNN.

Maybe if there were some prizes for a good article, it might inspire a bit of creativity in our fellow Rpers.

That sounds like a great idea. Definetly a great motivation. And congrats on becoming a Guild Counciler Endor!

Howdy, Whills. I wasn't sure if my message got through or not, so I thought I'd try something here. Always seemed to work back in the day. I'm hoping it still does.

I would like to either enlist the help of one of you in posting an announcement about the HNN hiring a new crew, or find out how I could go about it myself. I already have several team members back from the old crew, but I think I'll be needing to bolster the numbers with fresh faces, as I haven't heard back from any others. Normally, I would have used the HNN account to try and do so, but that was an account whose login was reserved for the editor...and I was not the editor when I left.

Hi Caril,
Good to see your renewed enthusiasm. I thought HNN really added some value to the Universe. While I haven't worn my mods hat for over a year now, I would certainly like to see it renewed. It was one of my biggest contributions to the game and I would love to see it being used again. And, for the record, I thought you made a great editor.

Hey Whills not sure if you read this much, but some interest in chat has sparked a surge in me to get the HNN going again.

That said I would like to suggest a couple idea's:
1. HNN changes from a weekly release to a monthly release. This would give reporters more time to interview people and we would have bigger releases as a months worth of events would have happened. Weekly releases only gave a short time to get stuff gathered together and they got smaller as we went along.

2. a new editor should be elected. because, as was pointed out, Kage hasn't been on since Feb and his last post was Aug last year.

that's about it, otherwise everything else seems to work fine...

The Whills agree that a monthly release schedule sounds as though it would provide several advantages, so support the idea fully.

As for an editor, unless you know of any players that have expressed an interest in the position that you could point in our direction, we will release a global announcement in the coming days asking for candidates to apply for the position.

Well, you are already technically in the HNN, so you don't need to reapply to remain a member. You were one of the main active writers the last time it got a reboot. The topic is for the editor position...which so far only you have applied for.

So, the whills voted and have decided that you are to be the next editor of the HNN. I'ma set you as a leader of the newsgroup for now, but if there are any other permissions you think you need, let us know. I'll be actively watching the HNN so your posts should be responded to promptly, if not, send us a PM and we'll do whatever needs to get done.

You are probably going to want to look for some volunteers to submit articles. Maybe give Dunta a PM, since he covered the sports (GBA) section pretty well last time. That said, what you do is up to you. Congrats.

also, could we perhaps please get perhaps renamed to Holo News Monthly or get a separate forum called Holo News Monthly created . It's up to you guys, I'm happy with what ever you decide :)

I too have encountered the same general error with that topic. This has been happening a lot lately and I believe it is tied to photoshack. Strangely I only get it when I try and look at the first page, so I reckon that's where the problem is. For a quick fix I just archived the more recent posts. That seemed to do the trick.
