[narration:eczf7yzo]The 15 Victory Star Destroyers, 9 Vic II's and 6 Vic I's had dropped out of hyperspace one or two at a time in orbit around Foerost... The hulls of the ships were blackened, shield generator towers completely ripped off, the proud gleam of the vessels was blackened by carbon scoring from dozens of battles. These small star destroyers were the only vessels that composed the rescue fleet of 40 some warships sent into the Unknown regions to reinforce the Last Fel Emperor in his pre-emptive strike against the reforming Vong. The Emperor was slain and the ships forced to retreat, hopefully doing enough damage to forstall a new invasion. Now back in Imperial space, Gabriel's damaged fleet would finally get it's rest and repair at the newly acquired Foerost Shipyards.[/narration:eczf7yzo][/quote:eczf7yzo]

[narration:eczf7yzo]The Victory Star Destroyer limp into their assigned stardocks, docks that had only 3 months ago sat dark and empty. Now huge work lights, cranes, supply ships and laborers rose to meet the challenge of refitting and repairing the fleet.[/narration:eczf7yzo]

Re: Docks

*Uniformed men and women, mostly men as this was grease monkey work, rose to the challenge of seeing the newly arrived star destroyers repaired. Work ranged from all categories and areas. There were electricians fixing damaged consoles and ripping out burnt and fused cables before replacing them. Scored durasteel hull plates were riveted off and attended to by metal workers. Some of the plates could be repaired and reattached, others were too twisted or damaged that they had to be replaced entirely with fresh plates. Most of the initial work involved scrubbing the carbon scoring off the exterior of the ships hulls. It was only as most of the black splotches were removed that the true extent of damage could be seen. Men and women moved about their jobs quickly, well aware of the momentous task ahead.*

*Initial repairs would progress slowly, as most of the shipyard's staff were just returning to work. However, as the week progressed, efficiency would increase dramatically.*

Re: Docks

*Despite the recent attack on the shipyards by rebel extremists, work continued on ISB Commander Solomon's fleet, albeit slower than before as additional manpower was allocated to repairing the structural integrity of the shipyard. Men and women of all shapes and sizes continued to arrive at the docks via shuttle craft, coming straight out of Hajibar and the surrounding provinces. Work was not in short supply and every hand was needed. That an the promise of decent pay was enough to see the planet's population return to work once again. More so, when the weekend hit, civilians finally had extra funds to begin paying for entertainment. The pubs were full and the economy was receiving the boost it had been promised.*

*At their current rate, assuming there were no more attacks on the yards, the shipwrights were expected to have finished repairs on the fleet within two weeks time.*

Re: Docks

*Between repairs of ISB Commander Solomon's fleet and of the yards themselves, the facility was fully committed to serving the Imperial cause. There was no lack for activity in the orbital docks, not when they were put to the task of handling a total of fifteen star destroyers. That said, these were the largest and oldest among the shipyards in the galaxy, formerly of the Republic and now belonging to the IR. So despite being occupied, they risked assuming a larger responsibility, though this time one far closer to home. Four Centurian-class battlecruisers were requisitioned by the Imperial Moff of this sector, along with a complement of two squadrons of Manta-class assault fighters for each. The designs were dated, true, but given that the duty to be imposed on them was simply maintaining peace throughout the quadrant, thus freeing up the Imperial Head of State's fleet, it seemed a small matter. Upgrades were included with the initial blueprints for the vessels to put them on par with other more modern vessels of the same class. Regular shipments of materials processed on the planet's surface were delivered to the yards in order to support the construction and repair efforts. A list of needed funds was sent to Imperial high command on Aargau.*

Re: Docks

*With repairs well underway for some time now, the ISB Commander Solomon's fleet was nearing completion and full operational ability. The outer hulls had been completely repaired and now shone like silver after the buffing they had undergone, completing removing any residual blaster burns. The only left was repair and replacement of some of the internal systems. The compromised areas were gutted for spare parts and new replacement devices were installed, a far speedier method of repair than bandaging the severely damaged components. Mostly at this point in time the techs were making sure the hardware was properly communicating with the software. There were a few glitches, typical, but nothing the noggin heads and lab geeks couldn't figure out with a little bit of spit and gumption. There was a strong smell of starship fuel as long connecting hoses were attached to the star destroyers, pumping gallons upon gallons of fuel into the near empty reserves. Ammunition and other essential supplies were loaded up sparingly, though the availability of such things was increasing every day thanks to the expansion of the Imperial Remnant throughout the Deep Core. Whether or not they could remain self sustaining would be a true testament of the Empire's ability. Most of the spare components were manufactured on Foerost, but things like rations and uniforms had to be shipped in from Aargua and the other various systems within Imperial space. A note was sent to Commander Solomon to let him know his fleet would be ship shape and ready to depart within a few days time.*

Re: Docks

*After several weeks/months at the yards, the fleet belonging to ISB Commander Solomon was finally completed. Well, as completed as it could be. Everything was at the very least operational and up to Imperial standards. There was still some purely cosmetic damage, but most of the crew seemed to find it acceptable. In fact, several of the deck hands and shipwrights had been turned away when they tried to scrub off the ion scoring. Apparently the crew thought of it as something of a badge of honour. No one wanted to forget the fight against those dastardly Yuuzhan Vong. Too many good men had given their lives to protect an undeserving galaxy. While the majority of the galaxy's denizens would never know about their sacrifice, the brothers in arms that still lived would never forget. Perhaps that was enough.*

*Fuel lines, cables, harnesses, jacks...you name it, all of the crap that was connected to the ships was released. The only thing still in place were the magnetic clamps, which any of the star destroyers could disconnect with a command from their bridge. Expenses were billed to Imperial High Command on Aargau. They left it up to Head of State Delvardus to figure of the technicality. He had good accountants, probably. Engineering crews exited the bays in which the fleet was currently docked, leaving them otherwise bare besides the Stormtroopers stationed as security.* *A pretty boring job if you ask me, but at least there are plenty of smoke breaks.*

The 139j were reported as lost during the Empire's conflict with the Yuuzhan Vong. Everyone thought you were dead. I, as well as everyone here, are glad to see that is not the case. You're all heroes. Bays 357 and 359 are being cleared to handle the service needs of yours vessels. You may approach the yards at leisure, Lieutenant. Oh, and you should head to Aargau as soon as you are able. Imperial High Command will want to know about your return. We have shuttles on hand that can make the trip if you require one, otherwise I would make that your top priority, Lieutenant.[/comlink:qe6bry6v] [action:qe6bry6v]There was a pause, followed by...[/action:qe6bry6v] [comlink:qe6bry6v]Welcome home. [narration:qe6bry6v]Well, technically Foerost wasn't their home, but it was Imperial space, so the gesture was meaningful in its own right.[/narration:qe6bry6v][/quote:qe6bry6v]

[narration:qe6bry6v]Well the crew certainly felt like they had returned home although they felt like anything but heroes. They were just tired, plain and simple. But none quite so tired as the young man who had to step up and lead these people home, although it seems like his work is still not done.[/narration:qe6bry6v] [action:qe6bry6v]Acknowledging the commander's signal he turns to the helm and comm officers.[/action:qe6bry6v] You know what to do. [/color:qe6bry6v] [action:qe6bry6v]He said just moments before the ships make their way into the yards, with [i:qe6bry6v]Dark Web[/i:qe6bry6v] taking bay 359 and [i:qe6bry6v]Rapier[/i:qe6bry6v] taking bay 357. [action:qe6bry6v]Without even waiting for an acknowledgement Piett moves out of the bridge and toward the hangar.[/action:qe6bry6v] [narration:qe6bry6v]The Imperial Lieutenant forces a smile to the crew that he passes on they way, glad that they are finally done with their journey and getting ready for some R and R, but somewhat saddened by the fact that he wouldn't be joining them. Truth be told he wasn't sure how much longer he'd remain with them. Any number of his crew could be reassigned and truthfully in any case they wouldn't be his crew anymore, [i:qe6bry6v]Dark Web[/i:qe6bry6v] would fall to another commander, one who for good or bad would certainly be different. Beyond that Rapier and all of the men that had served on that ship in their long trek back could very well be assigned to another unit. Everything was going to change, for better or worse.[/narration:qe6bry6v]

[action:qe6bry6v]Finally arriving in the hangar Merrik enters the already prepared Lambda-class shuttle [i:qe6bry6v]Mover[/i:qe6bry6v] and launches without preamble and takes what he assumes will be his last look as commander and enters hyperspace, ready for whatever would come next.[/action:qe6bry6v]

Re: Docks

*As the majority of the crew from the Dark Web and Rapier were finishing up the process of allocating themselves to the station's many alternate docking areas for transport to the surface of Foerost for their R&R, dock workers began the process of diagnosing the extensiveness of each vessel's damage by requesting that the most-senior technicians from each section of the vessel remain behind to assist with diagnostics and requisitions. The process would take around three hours, due to the sheer size of each vessel and their respective situations.*

*Following the diagnostics, the shipyards began filing reports and assessing the material requirements that would be needed for repairs and some much-needed upgrades to firmware and hardware alike. The priority issues were things such as hull integrity and life support fixes, which - due to the alarming amount of battle-damage - would take the most time to acquire necessary supplies. Manpower would also be a must; however, droids could be used for the bulk of the heavy work. Another issue was each vessel's primary drive reactor. Operating for so long without proper maintenance and prolonged usage, there were a multitude of logged occurrences where the reactor's safeguards had been compromised. More than a few fatalities had occurred on the ship as a result, and that meant that many of the crew would need to be thoroughly-screened to eliminate the possibility of radiation poisoning. Each vessel's medical staff had reported final physical screenings, but those were over two months prior to their return.*

*The vessel's crew and compliment reports were staggering. Of the original 5,000+ soldiers and crewmen that went out on the original voyage, only their skeleton crews remained. And that was after accounting for cross-purposing their enlisted military and trained crew. Their fighter count had dropped dramatically, and their compliment of soldiers (as opposed to naval crew) was drastically-low. The math of the situation may have seemed bleak, but, they had been up against hell; and came out of that scarred, yet stronger. Their rest would be well-deserved, that much was certain.*

*Final estimates (accounting for material acquisition time and general labor) would place the repairs for both vessels ranging within a month's time. The Foerost Shipyards could likely shave a week off of that, if they were diligent and remained unhindered by any other ongoing repairs. The remaining crew of both vessels were then free to go after receiving medical checkups, and then the work would begin in earnest.*

Re: Docks

*Construction continued in the super massive star docks. Between the numerous destroyers that were in serious need of repairs and refitting, the yards were also in the process of churning out new ships and vehicles for use by the Imperial Remnant. The scars from the pirate attacks were all but a painful memory, the damage inflicted now scrubbed from the surface entirely. Zero-G engineers fluttered back and forth in the cold void, skirting in between vessels, landing on their surface to perform exterior work. Depending on the size, some ships could actually be pulled into a completely sealed magnetically shielded compartment, allowing unsuited dock workers access and the security that artificial gravity provided. Occasionally the gravity would be shut off if there was sophisticated repairs required in those hard to reach spots, but for the most part the number of crisscrossing catwalks allowed for unrestricted access. Uniformed men and women hung from said railed corridors, swinging from one side to the next in their harnesses. Droids serviced most of the heavy lifting, setting deck plates in place, ramming in man sized rivets.*

*Surge and his cadre of officers saw to mass amounts of paper work involved. The coordination of materials was often the hardest part, given the great many sources the yards drew from. Every day more shuttles arrived, either from the planet itself or from Solomon Mines. Imperial space was pockmarked with their work. Soon a tertiary source would be providing resources as well, or at least, that was the plan. The Moff was seeing to negotiating that deal personally, at risk to his own well being.* *One wouldn't think that business deals were a matter of life and death, but when dealing with Sith...well, you could never really tell.* *Many of the materials were being used to finish construction on the centurion battle group, though they were still a ways off from completion. The support and fighter craft needed were waiting in a series of separate bays, polished to a purple sheen beneath the beige tarps that concealed them. Dust already began to settle.*

Re: Docks

*The first week was now behind them. The vessels Dark Web and Rapier were now stripped of all their damaged materials. From the observer's standpoint, the two vessels looked like cut-away sections of their former selves. Work had continued on their interior issues in this state, as off-site, sections of the hull were being constructed much like puzzle pieces that would be added and completed in the final refitting. Plans were in motion to complete the repairs to both vessels' primary drive reactors within the next week, and to restore the damaged conduits, relays, and consoles that were located throughout their respective ships. The larger issue would be the Dark Web's gravity-well projectors. All of which needed extensive repairs and outfitting. However, once the repairs would be finished, all four projection domes would operate at peak efficiency.*

*The Rapier would be finished within the allotted time, with a few days to spare. This would likely allow the workload to shift over to the Dark Web and expedite the repairs on the well-domes. All plans continued along the lines that they were projected.

Dark Web: 47% Repairs Complete

Rapier: 54% Repairs Complete*
