Re: The Hanger

*Morgan felt Kory's embrace tighten slightly, and so she responded by snuggling into Kory more closely. But then Kory spoke quietly, forebodingly almost, as she revealed that she had something to tell Morgan. Already Morgan's heart stopped; her movements became mechanic as she sat up when Kory pulled away, looking Morgan in the eyes.

Morgan knew she wasn't going to like whatever it was she was about to hear. Kory seemed tense, her eyes shimmering with the threat of tears. Morgan felt the thumb stroking her cheek, but barely registered it for the fear she felt of what Kory was about to say. If she would say it; Morgan could tell the woman was having some difficulty attempting to speak, an even worse sign of things to come.

And there it was: Kory announced that she was leaving again. Morgan sank, disappointed, despaired, unable to accept this. Coruscant? Why? What was there? What did she mean that she didn't know when she'd be back? ... "if" she'd be back? No! There were no "ifs"! Kory couldn't say "if"! She had to come back! Morgan's expression was empty, unsure what to say or how to react. When she finally did, it was purest despair.*

No! Kory, you can't go!
*Morgan gripped Kory's shoulders tightly, but made no other movement, still unsure how to react.*
I... I won't let you! P-p-lease don't! Don't...
*Morgan trailed off, sitting there with a blank, devastated look in her eyes, before throwing her arms around Kory's neck, tears trailing down her cheeks again. Her voice was now no more than a pitiful whimper.*
Don't go... M-...
*Now was the time. There was no other time. She had to say it now. But... how?*
... Don't go, Mama!
*"Mama." Not quite "Mommy," so it was perfect. Would this change Kory's mind? Make her stay? Morgan could only hope... Mothers were supposed to protect their babies, and... and she was Kory's baby! She started to sob fiercely as she clung to Kory, crying into her neck. Kory had just been taken away from her, and now that she was back, she was going away again? To something she may not even return from?

How did she expect Morgan would take this? Well, that was easy: Not well. And clearly that's how it was currently transpiring. There better be a good reason for this, but Morgan didn't have the composure to ask her what that was. Kory was smart, though... she wouldn't do something stupid without a good reason. Would she? No... she would never intentionally break Morgan's heart. Which it certainly was right now.*

Re: The Hanger

*When Morgan threw her arms around her neck, Adelle caught her and held her tightly. One hand gently stroked her hair while the other held her tiny frame, quaking with her sobs. She closed her eyes as she pressed her cheek to the side of Morgan's head, breathing in her distinctly sweet scent. Oh Force Oh Force Oh Force. Hot streams trickled down her cheek as she held Morgan close to her.*

"Shh. Shh, it'll be alright," *she said.* "I promise, it'll be alright, Morgan."

*Mama.

Morgan had called her Mama. A child of her own. Of all the things she wanted, of all the dreams she desired, of the two she had thought next to impossible, the two she thought completely hopeless. This... This was the one the Force saw fit to grant her. An ache pierced her lungs where her own bottled sobs resided. How would she be able to leave after this? How could she leave?

::All you were... All you are... All you ever will be. Belongs. To me.::

She had to. She had to find out about that voice in her head. She had to know where it came from, the identity of the man it belonged to. To know what he meant. And how she could stop him. Not just for her. Not anymore. Lita had been speaking the truth: Adelle, with all her Jedi training, with all her abilities, was a weapon. And someone else had their finger on the trigger.

Her child would not be caught in its sights. Not while she still lived.*

"I swear to you, Morgan," *she said quietly.* "I will come back to you. I swear it by the stars in the galaxy."

Re: The Hanger

*Would it? Would it really be alright? Kory was doing an awfully good job selling the notion, holding Morgan close and caressing her, assuring her over and over that she would be fine. But did Morgan believe? And if not, why didn't she? Kory could do anything! She saved Morgan from the boar attack, and what was more, she may have been captured, but she got free of that too!

But Morgan only continued to sob and cry into Kory's shoulder, rocking with each sob, as Kory swore by the stars to her that she would come back to her. This was comforting, and Morgan had nothing but the absolute utmost trust in Kory's words. Mama's words? Mommy and Mama... that was enough of a distinction between Felucia and Kory, wasn't it? And Kory clearly seemed to accept it; Morgan thought she had sensed some hint of... possessiveness? only a moment after Morgan had declared Kory "Mama."

And Morgan was quite possessive of Kory, which was why, even when Kory swore to return, and Morgan trusted this promise, she just couldn't let Kory go! She missed her Mama, and now she was just going to leave again? That wasn't fair! But Mama probably knew that. Whatever it was she was going to do... she had a good reason for it. Still, maybe there was some way... that... maybe she could...*

Take me with you, Mama!
*She extricated herself from Kory long enough for the two of them to look into each others' tear-stained eyes of green and brown and blue. It was likely a futile request; whatever Kory needed to do was likely far too dangerous for Morgan to come, but Morgan could at least try. Kory probably wouldn't let her, and Morgan was prepared to face further rejection. But she'd come back... someday. Morgan just wished it was today.*

Re: The Hanger

*Adelle smiled sadly, as she brushed a lock of Morgan's hair behind her ear. Somehow, she wasn't surprised that was Morgan's response.*

"You know I can't," *she said.* "It will be incredibly dangerous and I don't want you to get hurt."

Don't cry. *She leaned forward and kissed Morgan's forehead then wrapped her up in a tight hug. Don'tcrydon'tcrydon'tcry. Force, she missed this. Adelle brought Morgan back a little so she could see the child's├óÔé¼ÔÇØher child's face.*

"No matter what happens, Morgan, I will always love you. 'There is no death.'" *Even at her age, Morgan should have been familiar enough with the Jedi Code to finish the rest of that quote. And with that, it was time. There was no more to be said, no more to be done. She had come here for what she needed to do.* "Good bye, Morgan."

*Resh rolled up to her as she stood up, her jacket, boots, and belt (with holstered blaster) clamped firmly in his pincers. Adelle smiled and took her personal items then gave the droid an affectionate pat on the head.* "Watch out for Morgan for me."

*Resh blatted out a complaint, about how he was supposed to watch ALL THE THINGS at once. Adelle hardly heard him, bare feet padding against the hangar floor and eyes burning with tears. The first part of the hard good-byes was done. And quite possibly the hardest part. She boarded the Enduring Presage, not daring to glance back over her shoulder. Morgan would be watching. And she couldn't afford to tempt herself with the fantasy that if she stayed, that if she didn't confront whatever this was, everything would be alright. Everything was not alright and wouldn't be until this was resolved. Adelle sat down in the co-pilot's chair and rubbed at her eyes tiredly.*

Don't cry.

Re: The Hanger

~ Jago had been going over the readouts of his ship while Adelle was busy. He wasn't quite sure why they had stopped on Felucia, but he wasn't going to waste any time. The Presage had been having a few ticks in the hyperdrive, and Jago couldn't stand idly by. Work was ... relaxing for him. Calming. Especially repairs. He never really knew why ... he assumed it was due to his life being spent mostly on starships. Fixing them was nostalgic, in a way. It was something he was always improving at, always learning.

Except for now. The damn drive kept flickering, no matter how much he tinkered with the coupling to the generator. Perhaps if he tore the entire thing apart and restored it screw by panel by fusion core ...

" Hm?"

His head poked up as he felt her Force Presence return to the ship. It was ... distraught. Suppressed though ... She was trying to control it. He winced visibly as he made to clean up his work and leave the engine bay. While he had never been able to tap into the inner mental abilities of The Force his current connectivity with it left him susceptible to emotional lashes in it. Joy, Sorrows, Rage, Terror, it hit him like a brick. Right now, Adelle was only attempting to kindly bruise him with a bat. It wasn't something he could even attempt to ignore.

Once his tools were stowed away he made his way to the bridge. She was already there, looking exhausted. She felt exhausted ... It never sat well with him that he could "feel" emotions in others, but it was a two way street. He supposed that made it even, in a sense ..?

Jago rapped twice on the archway that separated the cockpit from the corridor, leaning against it as he looked towards her, careful not to look at her. He wanted her to feel safe.

" We can go whenever you're ready," Jago offered neutrally.

If she wanted to talk, he would leave that on her. Forcing her would do no good whatsoever.~

Re: The Hanger

*And of course, as expected, Kory denied Morgan's request to go with her, for reasons also expected: It would be too dangerous, and Kory didn't want Morgan to get hurt. Well, that was certainly a typical thing of a mother to say to her child, so Morgan had clearly made the right choice in deeming Kory to be her mother. Her human one, anyway. But that didn't make Morgan any less worried for her Mama.

Morgan hardly had time to react when Kory kissed her on the forehead, else she would have kissed her back, but was instead wrapped up in the tight hug. She only returned the hug, not wanting it to end, not wanting to let go. But she felt herself being pulled away slightly, so she quickly planted a kiss on Kory's cheek as she passed it before looking up into her eyes once more.

After saying that she'd love Morgan no matter what happens, she then said something Morgan found cryptic and strange. "There is no death"? What did that mean? It sounded like... Oh. That was the other version of the Jedi code. The one her father discounted, because of something to do with him thinking it was foolish to state that death├óÔé¼ÔÇØamong other things mentioned in the code├óÔé¼ÔÇØdidn't exist, and that instead of writing them off as so, they should be embraced as understanding that they do exist, but in spite of that, good can still be forged from them.

But what was Kory trying to say? If Morgan was remembering it right, the next line of that version of the code was "There is the Force." Was... was she trying to tell Morgan not to worry if Kory died, therefore implying there was a chance she would die?! That wasn't very reassuring! Especially after she had just sworn to return to Morgan! Now Morgan was mortified again, but her sobs caught in her throat, rendering her incapable of speech.

Fresh tears spilled down her face as Kory finally released her, her astromech droid approaching her with some items, which Kory took before telling the droid to "watch out for Morgan." It occurred to Morgan that she hardly knew the droid at all, had barely even seen it. She should probably fix that; it was the only thing of Kory's she would have around now. But Kory was walking away now, and Morgan couldn't let that happen! Not before...*

I love you, Mama!
*There. Her voice had been afforded a moment of clarity to spare for those words. And now she was choked with sobs again as Kory boarded the ship, preparing to lift off again. She almost couldn't take this. Kory better come home safe! But Morgan didn't know what to do to help, and she wanted to help! But there was nothing she could do but sit here and wait, and that was the hardest part to deal with.

She looked around at the astromech, Kory's astromech. She didn't even know what its name was. She had completely forgotten about it; she would have come to visit it while Kory had been missing, if she had thought of it. Maybe it was time to change that. Tentatively, she reached out towards it, gently placing a hand on its... shoulder, she guessed? She then waited for its reaction; she'd never really dealt with an astromech before, apart from her father's, and even then, those interactions were sparse. Something to regret? Maybe. But if there was any time to become acquainted with an astromech, it was now. Who knew? Maybe they could become friends...

Even if it would be no substitute for her Mama.*

[quote="Jago Pulastra":3ez7kp6s]"We can go whenever you're ready," Jago offered neutrally.[/quote:3ez7kp6s]
"Then let's go," [action:3ez7kp6s]she said. At any other time, those words would have had bite and attitude. Would have provoked the fight in someone else. But now? They were a quiet resignation, almost a sort of defeat. Dead. Minus the emotional exhaustion she felt, every other emotion lay dead with those words, buried deep beneath the surface, under numb layers of practical thought.[/action:3ez7kp6s]

"Lita and Trask no doubt will be waiting for us when we get to Corellia," [action:3ez7kp6s]she said absently. Adelle sat up straighter in the chair, the fingers on her right hand tapping the armrest incessantly.[/action:3ez7kp6s] "...If they still want to meet up with us."

[action:3ez7kp6s]One down. One more to go, and one more to hopefully avoid.[/action:3ez7kp6s]

Re: The Hanger

~ " They will. She will."

Jago took the pilot's seat next to her, going over the preflight in silence. Lita would be there, he knew. She always seemed to be where he was headed, one way or another. It was strange like that ...

He shook his head, clearing his mind. Lita shouldn't have been his focus: Adelle was. She had to be.

Jago looked over at her, wondering just what to do. Almost casually, his hand rested gently over her restless fingers. It was a small gesture, but a gesture all the same. He was an empathic person: it was simply in his nature to care, to be concerned. He gave her hand a small squeeze, her eyes a soft smile.

" You still got me with you no matter what, neh?"

He turned his attention back to the ship, jump-starting her heart before kicking her legs into gear, propelling the Presage and the pair inside to the sky and beyond.~

Re: The Hanger

*And there it went, the ship taking her Mama away from her, to Coruscant, to whatever it was she had to face. But Morgan wept no more; she merely stood and watched, the only sign she had in fact been crying were the tear streaks, the puffy eyes, and the sniffling in attempts to stifle a runny nose. Mama knew what she was doing... Mamas always knew. Morgan just had to trust her to do the right thing, and to do it right.

And no one could do that better than her Mama.

Now, Morgan would just have to wait for her to succeed and return to her; Kory had a lot to deal with, and Morgan had to be strong for her. She wasn't sure where to start, then she had it: The astromech. She didn't know its name, and she'd have to fix that, but she didn't speak droid speak. But she could certainly figure that out and help take care of it, and keep it company. And while she wasn't exactly knowledgeable about droids, she was pretty sure she knew where to start in attempting to earn its trust. Wiping her eyes, she turned to face it, smiling.*

C'mon! I'm gonna help take care of you! Let's go get you a tune-up, and an oil bath too!
*After gesturing for the droid to follow her, she started to head towards the hangar's exit, though made sure the droid was following her. If he had any reaction to the current events, Morgan could not tell what they were, but he indeed followed, and she thought she picked up the faintest hint of eagerness in his movements. That or she was just imagining things. She gave one final glance out the hangar exit, then decided to put that behind her as she exited the hangar; Kory had a job to do, and now Morgan had one as well.*

Re: The Hanger

*Culex, the orbital control AI, had found himself temporarily relocated to the Jedi Base to run a few minor systems while the regular officers were off-duty. At first, he was excited he'd get away from Carnel, and it felt nice to be hardwired to the surface rather than floating on a ship in space, but somehow, he almost missed the insane company. No one bothered him here. Nor thought to check up on him. How rude of these people! That was it, he was going to attempt to establish communication to the Acclamator in orbit and speak to Carnel. Materializing in the holoprojector, he made his announcement to the room.*
:: I'll be back in 20. ::
*But just as he said this, a beep from the comm systems stole his attention: A ship hailing the Base. Culex nearly groaned, but he decided he could just answer this and then go. Answering the message, he took note of the speaker's name, "Captain Cyrus Ordo," as well as his ship, "Sirius." Captain Ordo claimed to have an injured Jedi Knight aboard who had been heading to the base, before asking how Culex copied. How did he copy? Well, that was quite a tangent of a question...*
:: Well, Captain Ordo, I usually start by replicating the target data and move it to a new location. Unless you're referring to paper copying, which is something I have little experien├óÔé¼ÔÇØ ::
*... Captain Ordo wasn't asking about that kind of copying, was he? It was too late, but Culex could still correct the course and simply give the clearance as he was instructed to do.*
:: That is to say, Captain Ordo of the Sirius, you are cleared for landing in the Base hangar. Please proceed. ::
*After distributing the coordinates of the hangar and its entrance, Culex waited long enough should the Captain have anything to add, then would disappear long enough to attempt communication to Carnel's ship. And in the process perhaps recover some of his games and related data to occupy himself in this boring base...*

*Cyrus raised an eyebrow at the response on 'how to copy'. He looked at Darren who simply gave a shrug, shaking his head he hit the comlink.*

:: Roger, heading to coordinates now. ::

*The Sirius angled its course towards the given destination and continued its lumbering pace. Within minutes the Jedi base was in sight. Slowing its speed, Darren brought the ship down onto the landing pad. The old ship groaned loudly as its weight settled on its landing struts. Letting out a sigh Cyrus stood up and headed back to where Zan was sitting with Sarah.*

"We're here." *He placed his helmet back on his head and opened the cargo bay door.* "Now, lets make sure you get inside, lest you crash on your way there."
