Re: Salis D'aar

*Jenne kept pace with the jedi as they made their way through the crowds and into the administration building. She glanced down at her datapad.* "We need to go this way..." *She said, taking the lead as they turned a corner and rushed up a flight of stairs.*

Re: Salis D'aar

*The sky fell this day in Salis D'aar.

From the heavens came so many ships streaking down that even droids were having trouble tracking them. Alongside them were Mecha-war hawks, firing missiles are any anti-air batteries, those few that were even there. After taking out the anti-air they moved on towards disabling the civilian shuttles attempting to flee. Any that would not go back down were shot down. And those few that escaped the Hawks would be annihilated by the fleet in orbit above.

Marauder clones began pouring into the city from the South and West. Platoons were moving into buildings like ants crawling over a dead carcass. Flashes of blue were competing with the planet's star to light the city. While the clones would have preferred to just cut the enemy down, they instead used stun rounds to insure less casualties. The Mecha-war Hounds and Mecha-war Marauder's, the giant droid version of the clone, began moving North immediately, to cut off or cut down and escape attempt. More transports began unloading additional clone soldiers from the East, effectively cutting off this route.

Mecha-war beasts, ten thousand attached to this army, began raining down from their transports. Instead of unloading from the ground, the jet packs on their backs allowed for much more mobility. Using this to their advantage they began landing on the roofs, preventing a rooftop escape. They utilized their sound systems to full effect blasting any nearby victim with high decibel and high frequency noise, enough so that it would cause a human's ears to bleed. Once a roof top had been established they began pushing the civilians back down, into the awaiting marauder clones. A stun round to the back and a pair of tie-wraps later, the subdued captive would be laid out in the street to await pickup. As the advanced teams were making major headway into the city, the secondary teams were loading the captives into trucks for processing. The tertiary teams were just now striking.

The third group of soldiers were specialized teams. Only numbering ten groups of fifty, these teams were hitting Salis D'aar's banks, vaults, major corporations and other large financial centers. These teams were intent on stealing as much money as possible through bank transfers and thefts. Using extreme caution and care, the teams would take alive, then force their captives to empty said vaults, transfer credit lines and hand over keys to safes. With the city crumbling around them, these people were being forced to suck the financial life out of the planet's holdings. In a backwater planet, this might account for tens or hundreds of thousands. In a major planet like Bakura, this could mean billions.

The last group of soldiers were made up of fifteen thousand men. With weapons strapped to their backs and a casual demeanor, they stuck out like a sore thumb in a battle field. But like the tertiary teams they had an important job to do. They were the pillagers of the army, going through house by house, building by building, block by block, stealing anything of value. Safes, weapons, vehicles, anything worth something was being taken. Shops were being ransacked, stores were being raided and businesses were being completely robbed. These spoils of way would either be sold off on the black market, or they would be used for the war effort. Nothing would be wasted.*

Re: Salis D'aar

*A channel was opened to the Mandalorian forces in Salis D'aar, originating from the main damutek set up in the center of downtown Gesco City. The frequency was connected to using a villip choir equipped with an oggzil attachment, providing holographic imagery along with the audio. The image of a scar faced Yuuzhan Vong subaltern would have been visible if the channel was being accessed through a holo-projector.*

:: This is Barabas Lah, subaltern of the Eighth Scourge. Operations in Gesco City are proceeding as planned. Prisoners are already being loaded onto transports to be taken space side. I recommend using the station in orbit for prisoner exchange. Any captured infidels unsuitable for use as Yuuzhan Vong slave workers or Mandalorian indoctrination can be easily disposed of from there. I assume it has working airlocks. Standing by for your reply. ::

*There was a pause as the subaltern waited for the Mandalorians to respond.*

*Focusing back on his work, the general was once more proud of his brothers. They had succesfully taken the city, with minimal resistance. The theft operations was working wonderfully, and the number of prisoners being taken was still skyrocketing. Overall the operation was proving to be a stunning success.*

Re: Salis D'aar

:: Acknowledged. Take your time with the prisoners, we still need to pacify the orbital facility. As for the...banks, you called them? We have no translation for that word in our language, so I am not entirely certain what they are. However, seventy percent of of the infidel structures in Gesco are still standing. We had to demolish some for show and to block off avenues of escape, but more than half of the city is still intact. You may send in men to investigate any time you wish. Avoid the downtown core if you can. We have fortified our position there and laid mines. Barabas out. ::

*The connection ended.*

Re: Salis D'aar

*Soldiers passing by the little girl almost missed her. A private who finally noticed her slapped some tie wraps on her and picked her up with ease. Tossing her next to the pile of other victims, they move on.

Twelve minutes later a truck came by, and more soldiers began loading the captives into the back.*

Re: Salis D'aar

*A passing soldier stops momentarily, pulls out his pistol and shoots a stun bolt into the back of the tied up girl.

The city was finally taken. The soldiers that had been assigned to combat were now being reassigned to moving captives into the transports. The theft teams were finishing as well, and Bakura was proving to have been a good haul. Billions had been made, but now the theft teams were taking their transports to the Yuuzhan Vong's target so as to steal there as well.

Three hours later the last of the transports were leaving. Up above, the fleet began bombarding the city with hundreds of turbolasers. The process took an additional hour to fully complete but once done the city was reduced to a barren rock.*

Re: Salis D'aar

*The cantina was dimly light and choked with smoke of varying colors and legalities. No surprise there; in that way and in every other that Erin could discern, the establishment was as generic as they came, full of stone-faced mercenaries and gamblers of various species all sharing the same shifty eyes and quick hands. She drew no attention when she entered. Her white jacket, woven from spider shell silk, would occasionally shimmer strangely when subjected to bright light, but there was nothing of the sort here, save for the intense lamps mounted above the various sabacc tables. These she avoided easily and almost unconsciously, heading directly for a small booth near the back. It was bathed in shadows but Erin could could still make out the bulky shape of Meron seated easily in one of the twin benches.*

*She'd had dealings with the Shistavenan assassin before- had, in fact, once partnered up with the wolf man to complete a hit on a rather elusive Mandalorian privateer. He was a shifty rodder who could rarely pass up the opportunity to double cross anyone he came into contact with. The money didn't even have to be good; Meron got off on the con, on walking away with the upper hand. This alone hadn't been enough to give Erin pause when she'd first heard that he might know something about the information she'd found on Marik's computer. But it wasn't just that Meron would cross her if he got the opportunity; the wolfman was good. As good as her, if not better.*

*If it came down to it, Erin wasn't sure she could kill him and walk away still breathing herself.*

*But she was here, and only because she had nowhere else to turn. She needed money to get off world. The Tryst had been impounded when things got hairy with Marik, and the access codes to the lock they'd put on it hadn't been in the man's computer. She'd slipped into the warehouse where the freighter had been stored and seen the thing; she couldn't hack it. It was doubtful there was anyone on a backwater planet like Bakura that could, and even if there was she doubted she would be able to find them. Not with her name blacklisted and her pockets empty. So she was here.*

*Sliding into the seat across from the grinning wolfman, Erin leaned forward and rested her chin in the palm of one hand, arching her eyebrows with something like amusement.*

Erin: "Arcturus Sorrows, huh?"
