Episode 1: Awakening

A long, long time ago...

In the waning hours of their vast empire the , the Architects of the galaxy, raced to complete, the Rys'jouna, a ship unlike any other in the universe before or since it's time. However, before it's completion the Celestials disappeared from the known universe. Their fate shrouded in mystery and their crowning achievement incomplete.

Sometime during the expansion of their Infinite Empire, a race known as the - or the Builders - discovered their former master's creation. Seeing an opportunity to expand their territories throughout the galaxy and beyond, the Rakata undertake the project of finishing what was left behind. Believing they had finished the massive ship, the Rakata attempted a test jump. The ship disappeared along with the crew scientists aboard her.

The Rys'jouna fell to history. History became legend. Legend became myth. And the Rys'jouna faded from memory never to be seen again...until today...

*Adrien gasps as his eyes open abruptly and his pod opens. He sits up and looks around quickly and with urgency**The dimly lit room with greenish hue leave little detail to be seen, there are other pods that litter the space around him though he cannot see inside of them nor can he see an exit. And then he feels the sharp piercing sting of a headache come over him**He reaches up to his head to feel wires attached to his temples and tubes being run through his nostrils. In a panic he pulls the wires from his head and then starts to slowly pull the tubes from his nose**The painful extraction is sobering and as the tube was finally removed completely the only thoughts that could occupy Adrien's head were "Where am I?" "What is this place?" "How did I get here?"

But as he tried to recall the events that lead to his arrival here he suddenly realized that those questions were just the tip of the iceberg, the more he tired to remember the more he found that he couldn't remember anything prior to this moment, waking up in the pod*
*In a panic he rolls out of the pod to his feet and falls to the floor as his knees buckle beneath him. As he rests on the floor scared and alone his eyes wander around as much of the room as he can see. He notices that he is wearing what appears to be white pants and a white tank top, no shoes or any obvious markings that would indicate who he might be or what he is doing in this place. After a moment of lying on the floor he pulls himself up and sits against the pod from which he came and looks around the room yet again. His heart is racing, his breathing is rapid and inconsistent, and his hands are shaking uncontrollably*

*Why couldn't he remember anything? Who he was, where he came from, why he was here, nothing. "Think, think, what's your name?" He tried desperately to think of what his name was but all he could think of was static, like there was some sort of interference that was preventing him from accessing information**He shakily pulled himself up to his knees and he peered over the pod looking for something, or someone, he didn't know. Carefully he brought his foot up and firmly planted it on the floor before he started to pull himself to his feet. His knees were weak and he could barely stay standing but he managed to. He looked around the room again as he leaned against the pod but he saw nothing* H-hello? *He called out to the darkness around him, but there was silence in return. Aside from the faint sound of machinery running in the distance he heard nothing. He was curious to know how he knew what machinery running sounded like, and for that matter what words to use in conversation. After all this in his mind was the first word that he had ever spoken, how did he know it was right? Simply, for some reason, he just knew*

*He started to walk, his steps were small and staggered as he held on to the pod to guide himself though the room, reaching out from one pod to the next to further his progress**There was a strange feeling that came over him however, the feeling that he was growing stronger. For some reason it felt like his health was being restored to him very rapidly and his legs were gaining strength because of it, he found himself relying less and less on the support of the pods and more on the support of his own two legs, which was definitely a positive thing considering he was making better progress, though he was unsure as to what he was making progress toward just yet.

As he walked the answers to his question only became more distant, the room he was in seemed to be full of pods just like the one that he had come from though many of them were open and empty, there were some that were closed but he could not see within them, nor could he read the language that was written on them. Whatever this place was it was not something that he understood nor was it someplace that he thought he could understand. He wasn't even sure why he was walking around other than he felt this compulsion to know what was going on, though the reason for the compulsion was a mystery to him, at the moment he would have preferred to stay near his pod just in case someone came by to check on him, but now that he had been walking he realized just how ridiculous that thought was, he could see no one. He was alone*

Hello? *He called out into the large room once more* Is there anyone here?

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Terra bolted upright as her pod on the opposite side of the room from Adrien's burst open, just as he had. Her eyes darted around the dimly lit room and her heart pounded in her chest as she gasped in air, not noticing the presence of another in the room yet. Her hands moved to her head, and she felt the wires attached to her temples, along with tubes flowing up into her nostrils. She frantically tried to remember where she was and how she had gotten here, but there was nothing, not even a slight hint of what had happened. She didn't even recall her own name...

With shaking hands, she pulled the wires away from her head, and slowly and painfully pulled the tubes out of her nose. That done, she shakily hoisted herself out of the pod, though she found she was unable to keep her balance for long, nearly falling to the floor as her legs nearly gave way beneath her. She felt weak, and as she grasped the edge of the pod and attempted to pull herself upright, something was telling her that she wasn't alone in here, even before she heard him calling out.

Clutching the edge of the pod where she had emerged, she turned to see a stranger, a man she had never seen before, though with no memories whatsoever, she could have probably said that about anyone here. Whoever he was, she was glad that she wasn't alone in here after all. At least there was one other person in apparently the same situation as she was.*
"Uh...h-h-hello...umm..."*Confusion was evident in her speech and on her face as she spoke. It was as if she had never spoken before, and yet, she understood...*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*He felt a chill as he heard a voice in the darkness, he had no idea where it was coming from or who it was. His first thought was to grab the nearest thing to him and defend himself if against whomever this may be but his mind was set at ease when the voice sounded just as cautious and confused as he was. Though it was no comfort to know that he likely wouldn't get answers from this person, he was happy that at in the very least he wasn't alone in such a strange place*

Who's there? *He started to scan the room, seeing no one at first but soon his eyes came to rest on a figure not far from him**He could tell from the voice and form of the figure that it was a woman, this immediately made him feel as though he should protect her from whatever may be in this place, if there was something here, but he knew there had to be since something had put them in these pods right?**He starts to walk toward her cautiously, he held his hands up instinctively to let her know that he was not a threat*

*As he got closer to her he couldn't help but to notice that she appeared to be very attractive but in this dim room it was hard to tell. Though he wondered to himself why in this situation that his thoughts went to her looks rather than what was going on at the moment. He pressed the thought out of his mind as best and as quickly as he could, he knew that he needed to stay focused on the matter at hand and in his mind that was getting out of this place and helping this woman, whoever she was, do the same* Don't be afraid, I'm not going to hurt you. *He tried to reassure her as he walked toward her* Come with me, we need to get out of this place. *Stretching out his arm he offered her his hand, making sure to keep the other hand visible and in the air as he did so. The look in his eyes was genuine, he wanted to help her*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*As the man moved closer, she briefly considered running, but as she got a bit of a better look at him in the dimly lit room, something told her that he wasn't a threat. He was dressed exactly like she was, and he also had an air of confusion about him, which meant that they were in the same situation. It also meant he likely would not have any answers as to how they had gotten here, or where here was. It was still a little comfort that at least she wasn't alone in this place.

She looked at his outstretched hand for, not sure if she should accept his help for a moment. For some reason, she remained suspicious of him, even though he clearly was not a threat and was probably the only help she would be getting right now. Hesitantly, she reached up and took his hand, her fingers shaking as she did so. Her strength was slowly returning now that she was free from the pod, but her legs still shook and her balance still felt a little off. Grasping his hand, she pulled herself up and used him to steady herself as she looked around the dimly lit room for an exit.*
"Which way?"

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Adrien thought for a moment, he didn't exactly know how to answer the question since he had no idea where they were, but he also felt that he needed to step up and take charge to help this woman feel more safe in this very unfamiliar place**He looked left and right and around the room to see if he could see a doorway or anything that might get them out of this area**He spotted a door not far from them but couldn't help but to wonder what sort of dangers might lie behind the door. Guards, maybe. Other people like them perhaps? Without knowing what brought them here it was impossible to tell what they were actually going to walk into out there, but there was really only one way to find out**His glance went downward as he made his choice then looked back at her* This way. *He nodded toward the door and pulled her along in tow as he headed cautiously to their exit. A few silent steps brought him to the edge of the door and he guided her against the wall as he held on finger against his lips for her to stay silent**He found the hand gesture to be strange after he had done it, he didn't quite know what it meant when he did it but at the same time he did it instinctively to express what he wanted her to do. That was curious**Brushing the thought out of his mind almost as soon as it entered he pressed his ear to the door to see if he could hear anything on the other side**He heard nothing but a low hum, whatever that hum was it felt strangely familiar to him, relaxing even. It was as though this hum was music to his ears**He then looked to this woman and shrugged before looking around the door frame to find some sort of opening mechanism*

*He didn't see any buttons or switches or nobs but his attention was caught by a light strip with a series of three elongated lights attached to the frame**He curiously brought his hand to his chin to think for a moment before he cautiously reached out and touched the the device**He held his breath as he did so, he didn't know what the lights were or what they could do but they were the only thing on the door that would indicate a way out in his mind. As his anticipation built his hand came to rest on the light and...

Nothing happened.

This was slightly frustrating because he had no idea how they would get out of this room if this either wasn't a door...which it looked like one, or this thing wasn't the way to open it...and it clearly looked like the only way to open said door.

Unless...

A password?*
*Sighing he let his hand fall, sliding down the strip as it did so before he looked at the woman and started to speak**When the door opened and diverted his attention back toward it**He was taken aback slightly and got ready to fight but soon noticed that nothing was out there. He poked his head out and looked both ways out the door before stepping out**The first thought was the door, which closed behind them as they stepped out into this room, how he opened it must have been sliding his hand down the lights. The room before them was large like a big foyer that seemed to be lined with similar doors just like the one they had just come from. And once again the room was dark, with one exception some blue swirling light on the floor coming from a doorway that seemed to lead into a much larger room. This piqued Adrien's interest**He walked toward the light cautiously, turning the corner to enter an enormous room where his mouth suddenly fell slightly agape* I don't think we're going anywhere. *In front of them stood a large viewport with the dynamic streams of hyperspace and then it was oh so clear that they were in much deeper than either of them had anticipated**Adrien walked toward the viewport still in awe before he spoke once more, his gaze never leaving the sight before him* Where the hell are we?

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Terra followed him to the door, stumbling at first as she struggled to keep her balance, but as they neared the door, her strength began to return and by the time they reached it, she felt like she could walk on her own. Unable to make much of the door, she stood by and watched him try to figure it out, keeping quiet like he had gestured. Somehow, she knew what that gesture had meant, despite not remembering ever seeing it before. Strange...

The door opened after Adrien did...something. Whatever he had done, it had worked, but it quickly became clear that the room beyond was empty too. Her eyes struggled to see through the darkness, as this room wasn't lit either, save for the swirling blueish light on the floor, which seemed to be coming from another room. Judging by the size of the rooms they had come from, wherever or whatever this place was, it was big.

Her eyes widened as they entered the room and saw the viewport, hyperspace streaming in front of them. Like the other rooms they had been in, this one was also quite large, though it was slightly better lit, if only because of the light coming in from the viewport. That was definitely hyperspace, though she once again found herself questioning how she knew that with no memory of having seen it. She just knew what it was. That could mean only one thing: that they were on a ship, though what kind and where they were going was anyone's guess.

She looked up at him.*
"That's...hyperspace."*She just knew what it was called, even though she didn't remember seeing it.*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*When the third pod burst open, there was no jolting to uprightness or unattractively abrupt gasping, just a small line of drool tracing it's way down Oz's left cheek. Bringing his hand up to wipe it away, he stopped when it hit something that tugged at his nostrils and wasn't supposed to be there.* *What the hell?* *Further investigation quickly revealed a tube stuck down his nose, likely to be used for delivering nutrients to his...* *THERE'S A FREAKING TUBE STUCK IN MY NOSE!* *Pulling as hard and fast as he dared, Oz quickly extracted said tube and managed to avoid a fit of hysteria (well, a long fit of hysteria anyway) and calm himself back down enough to think.*

*Now where the hell am I?* *Sitting up, he felt tension on the skin of his forehead and temples and reached up to find four electrodes attached to his head with adhesives.* *Okay... electrodes and a feeding tube. Obviously not a stasis pod. Though just as obviously intended for long term use... I wonder how long...* *His thoughts continued to wander as he stepped out of the pod and set his bare feet solidly on the cold floor.* *Oh crap!* *1.8 seconds later, his face was also set solidly on the cold floor, though not by choice.* *Right, guess it's been a while... (ya think genius?) Shut up, I'm trying to work here (And doing a fine job of it too). Screw you.* *Ordinarily, Oz wouldn't have just stayed there with his face planted on the floor, but his arms were giving him little choice and the vibration of the deck against his cheek had just made him acutely aware of the fact that he was on a spaceship.* *And a pretty stinkin' huge one at that. It almost feels like... like what? There was more to that thought a second ago...* *But try as he might, he simply could not recall what it was this ship felt like.*

*Finally pushing himself to a sitting position against the base of his pod (it took two tries), he realized that he also had no recollection of how it was he'd gotten here, or even what he did before he was here. In fact, he had absolutely no personal memories at all. Shifting to look at the pod he'd woken up in, he gave it a cursory once-over before relaxing again.* *Whew... Not a cloning chamber. That could have gotten awkward, all those problems with rapid aging and cellular degeneration and whatnot. I do NOT want to die young.* *Once some some strength had returned to his legs, enough to stand anyway, he did just that and glanced around the room. It was lined up and down with pods just like the one he'd been kept in, and none of them had viewports so he could see inside.* *What the hell is this place?*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*It is not the pneumatic hiss of the pod opening that summons the diminutive, pale skinned Nagai from the depths of the artificially induced slumber, but the change in the quality of the lighting that results from the opening, removing the darkness that had reigned in the embryonic confines of the pod and replacing it with a brightness that, even with her dark brown eyes closed, is uncomfortable to bear.*

*Groaning low in her throat in weak protest, the Nagai lifts an arm to shield her unopened eyes, her head turning to the side and, as her awareness slowly emerges from the fuzzy, indistinct realm of unconsciousness, begins to feel a sense of panic bloom within her, gradually at first.* *The panic is not due simply to the muted aches of the I.V. lines in her arm making themselves known, or the discomfort in her nose and throat from the nasogastric feeding tube; but to the accompanying lack of the anticipated return of any awareness of where she is or, even more disconcerting, any memory at all prior to the bright, artificial light replacing the darkness which, now, seems so comforting and into which she begins to wish she had not emerged from.*

*Propping herself up weakly and shakily on her elbows, the Nagai opens her eyes, squinting against the light, and looks to her left and right, the sense of panic and disorientation she feels surging upward when she sees only rows upon rows of sealed pods stretching out on either side. Her arms trembling from the effort, the Nagai sit up fully, her breathing quickening, her expression wild and nearly hysterical and opens her mouth as though to call out but does not. Her expression slackens, the hysteria bleeding from it to be replaced by a more collected sense of alert wariness as her mouth closes.*

"Try and stay calm, *the Nagai says in a voice that sounds lower and more masculine than might be expected as, looking towards the unopened pod to her left, she continues by slowly holding up her hands in front of her as though to calm or reassure someone,* I woke up here just like you, no memories of how or . . . *stopping as though interrupted, continuing to look at the unopened pod attentively, the Nagai is silent for a moment as though listening to someone or something. Nodding, the Nagai says,* No, I don't either. Neither does, *she looks to her right, where there is nothing more than empty pods even though she says,* the droid. *Pausing as though listening, The Nagai says,* I don't know, *then, after another pause, frowns and says,* Alright. You need to get out of the pod first. Take it slow. *Her eyes remaining on the unopened pod to her left, the Nagai watches it as though unaware that her hands are moving, first removing the nasogatric tube and then the other equipment that would hinder any attempt at moving from the pod.* Good, *the Nagai says once she has removed the medical equipment, going on to say,* Steady. You will find your legs weak at first," *as, continuing to look at the unopened pod while she moves slowly and deliberately, she gets her feet to the floor and steadies herself beside the pod.

Her chin length black hair falls down to frame her angular face as the Nagai, hearing a low thud somewhere in the distance, turns towards the direction the noise came from as she holds a hand up to her left as though to urge silence. Speaking in a hushed voice, the Nagai says,*
"I don't know, *and then, nodding towards the direction the noise came from, says,* It came from over there. Probably someone else waking. *Motioning with her hand as though to urge someone to follow her, the Nagai says,* Stay behind me, both of you," *and, using the unopened pods to support herself, shuffles cautiously towards where the noise had come from.*

*Stopping when she spots the man sitting against the base of a pod, the small, wiry Nagai, noting in his expression a familiar air of confused disorientation, holds her hands in front of her to convey she is not a threat and, turning her head slightly towards her right as though to gesture towards someone or something behind her even though there is nothing or no one in sight, says,* "We just . . . woke up . . . here, like you, *and then, head tilted to the side inquisitively, her tone hopeful even though she suspects she knows the answer and indicative of the fact she herself has no answers to the questions she poses, asks,* Do you remember anything? Where we are? Who you are?"

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

"Huh?" *Looking up when he hears someone's voice (audibly this time, thank the force), Oz's gaze falls on a woman, beautiful in spite of her eerily pale skin (or maybe because of it...). Either way, it took Oz a minute to find words, and even then he had to look down and pretend to study his pod.* *Why is it ALWAYS a girl? Every stinkin' time! And they're always gorgeous too...* "I, uh... no. Don't remember anything before waking up." *Squatting next to the pod, he actually began to examine it in earnest.* "I don't think I've ever seen this kind of tech before either... Ya know how some things just kinda feel familiar? Like you know what they are even though you can't remember? Well this place doesn't feel like that."

*Pausing, Oz reached out and, with a grunt, pulled a panel off the base of the pod.* *Nope. No familiarity. Totally foreign system.* *But even as he chided himself for not being able to remember, his supercharged brain began to make connections and learn from his observations, combining those with whatever information it still possessed to create a working understanding of a system Oz had never seen before a few seconds ago. The process wasn't one he was aware of, just something that happened. Unfortunately, knowing how the pod worked wasn't any help in this situation. Looking back up at the woman, her head the only thing visible above the pod, he just sat there and looked at her for a moment.* *It's not staring... honest. I just want to... uh... be able to remember something later. Yup. It'd suck to forget a face like that...* *Then something she had said finally clicked and he stood, looking both ways down the long room before shifting his eyes back to her.* "Where are the others? You said 'we'."

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Anticipating the man's probable answer proves no insulation against the disappointment that accompanies the confirmation that he, too, knows nothing about where they are, how they got there or even who he is, and the Nagai frowns, looking down and lifting her right hand to massage her temple as, while the man goes on to say that he does not recognize the technology they are surrounded by and removes a panel to examine the pod more closely, she tries to come to grips with the situation in light of what she has learned.*

*The Nagai's expression, when the man asks where the others are, is confused at first, as though the perfectly sensible question is, for some reason, nonsensical to her, and she pauses a moment before, thinking she has simply misunderstood his question, answering, as before, in a husky, low tone that sounds as though she is either hoarse or endeavoring to affect a masculine voice,* "Oh, no, no one else, *she looks over her right shoulder, gesturing towards the empty rows upon rows of pods as she says, as though pointing out the perfectly obvious,* Just her, me and the droid. *Her eyes narrowing as though she is experiencing some kind of discomfort, the Nagai lifts her right hand to her temple once again as she says somewhat distractedly,* It doesn't know anything. The droid. Not even it's designation. That is str . . . *turning her head to look over her shoulder, the Nagai asks,* What? *and then,* Where? *Looking off to her left, she squints, then nods,* I see them, *then points as she says to the man,* Two more open pods, down there, *before asking the man,* Can you walk?"

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Confusion etched on his features, he looked around the room again to make sure.* "Who... wait, what? There's no droid... You and me are the only ones here. And yeah, I think I can walk." *To test the theory, Oz turned and took a step away from the pod, then another, and finally a third, before turning back to face the woman.* "Yup. Looks like I'm golden. But you, on the other hand, are flat out hutt-slime crazy. There's no droid here and you're the only girl, so that means you're either a part of this and it's all a big joke..."*In which case: haha, very funny.* "...or you're certifiably nuts and having hallucinations." *Then it occurred to Oz that the electrodes may have been for more than just making sure the "patients" were comatose. He'd already figured out that his own brainpower was pretty freakin' high, and given the fact that frosty over there was very probably experiencing hallucinations, it stood to reason that whoever put them in here was probably more interested in how atypical minds functioned than anything else.* *Dang I'm good. Oooh, cocky too. Wait... What if it wasn't to study atypical minds, but to create them? That would explain the memory loss along with my brainpower and her... delusions. Gross... that means somebody's been poking around in my brain. I vote option one.*

"Anyway, I vote we go find out where this tub is headed." *He glanced at the pods she'd spotted farther down the room.* "Whoever was in those other pods ain't anymore, so there's not much point in going to look. Now, where's a... Aha!" *Spotting a door looking panel not far away, Oz headed toward it to investigate.* *No obvious switches or handles or other assorted opening mechanisms... It's got this handy little glow panel though.* *Reaching out, he waved a hand through the air in front of it. Nothing happened.* *Nope. Not a motion sensor.* *He tapped the top light and again, nothing.* *Not a button either. Maybe there's a combination...* *On instinct, he "reached out" somehow with his mind, interfacing wirelessly with the device's circuits, and quickly took a shocked step back.* *What the hell?* "Hey you, frosty, come here." *He waited for her to come closer before pointing at the panel and it's three glowing lights.* "Try and interface with that." *She made a move toward the device and he stopped her.* "No, I mean mentally."

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Since, for the Nagai - who at present fully believes she is a human male - the girl and the droid are as real for her as the man that asserts they are not there and that she is a girl, she, just as he looks at her as though she is insane, looks at him as though he is insane since his assertions that they are alone and she is a girl are as baffling to her as her assertion that they are not alone is to her.* *Concluding that the man is either suffering from delusions or making some kind of unfathomable joke, the Nagai, when he concludes by concluding she is either a part of whatever it is that is going on or is certifiably insane, says only,* "Right," *in a dry tone since she sees no point in arguing the point as, in her mind, he is making so little sense and, as his assertions are so wildly fantastic and nonsensical to her, therefore supremely unlikely to make sense any time soon.*

*Nodding when the man suggests they should endeavor to find out where the vessel they have found themselves in is heading and that there is no point in trying to find the occupants of the pods they have seen since the occupants are presently nowhere to be seen, the Nagai follows him warily as he makes his way towards what looks like some kind of door , looking over her shoulder at one point and saying in a hushed voice to the empty air behind her,* *pauses as though listening and then adding,*

*Narrowing her eyes skeptically when the man asks her try and mentally interface with the panel that he had been waving a hand over, the Nagai says in a tone that suggests she has little confidence that anything will come of the attempt,* "Right, *thinking it best to humor him. How one interfaces mentally with a glow panel is a mystery to her and so the Nagai chooses to look intently at it, envisioning the door opening.* *When nothing happens, the Nagai shrugs and says in an unsurprised tone,* Nothing, *waving her right hand and, without knowing she is doing so, telekinetically wrenching the door open several inches. Arching an eyebrow in surprise, the Nagai looks at the man and then back to the door, suggesting,* We might be able to force it open enough to slip through," *and gesturing for him to move aside.

Wedging the pale, thin fingers of both hands into the opening in the door panel and grimacing as she attempts to pull ti open, the Nagai manages to create an opening large enough for someone to squeeze through after a moment of effort and, flexing the fingers of her hands to restore circulation to them, cautiously peers out through the opening at the silent and still corridor outside, looking in both directions as she reports in a disappointed tone,*
"Just a corridor, *before, looking first at the man and then at the empty air behind him, saying,* Wait here," *and squeezing through the opening cautiously.

When it is clear that there is no threat present, only the corridor stretching out as far as she can see on either side and what looks like a turbolift at one end, the Nagai says,*
"Clear, *and then, waving for the man as well as the girl and droid that exist solely in her mind to enter the corridor, reports,* There's a turbolift forward of here."

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*What the hell? She's a telekinetic!**Having already interfaced with the door panel again by the time she wrenched it back open, Oz knew that she definitely hadn't used that method to budge the doors. If she had, he was sure he would have felt the change. Instead, they were simply closed one second and jerked open the next.* *Yup. Definitely telekinesis.* *Adding "force potential" to the list of things that might be the reason they were here, since he was pretty sure he was a forcie too, Oz slipped through the door after the slender woman without actually needing to open it any further and followed her into the lift.*

*Hmm... buttons, buttons, buttons... Nope. No buttons. Crap. Nothing to interface with either.* *Then the doors slid closed and a previously invisible panel (it looked an awful lot like part of the wall just a second ago) next to them lit up with a list of... something. the language was totally foreign, but Oz assumed it would be a list of locations the lift could reach.* "I vote we go up." *The bridge is usually at the top, so up should get us there, right? Of course I'm right.* *Without waiting for a reply, he tapped the top entry on the list and the lift slid into motion. Moving down.* *Stupid freakin' aliens and their atypical concepts of standard lift button configurations!*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*The forest was quiet and peaceful.*

*It was a mild, very early summer morning, and the dark stillness of the wilderness provided a cool, calming relief. With a soft sigh as I lay flat on my back in the long grass, I closed my eyes, and listened. I could hear nothing except the faint gurgling and splashing of the brook, but any moment now, the first rays of the sun would push over the horizon, and the song-avians would burst forth with their shrill voices.*

*I waited, and waited, but the avian music never came. Suddenly bewildered, I tried to open my eyes, but the blackness would not go away. Struggling, I tried to rise to my feet, but when I moved, gravity seemed to invert. I had a sudden, panicked urge to get up and run back to ... what? I couldn't remember. I couldn't remember anything. Where was I? It was familiar, but what was it's name? My memory seemed to be blocked by a grey buzzing. Don't ask me how I knew what color it was, but it was like a bad com connection within my head. I panicked.*

*And then, I really and truly awoke, and found that I could move. You know how it is sometimes. You don't realize that you're dreaming, until you reach a point where you can't do something that you would easily be able to do in real life. And then you wake up, whether you wanted to, or not. In this case, I definitely did, and I let out a sigh of relief --- only for it to catch in my throat. The mental block was still there. It hadn't been part of the nightmare. It was real.*

*A quick glance around at my surroundings only heightened my sense of unease. I was sitting bolt upright on a simple, sterile bed platform, set inside one lengthwise half of a hollow, oblong pod of unknown construction. The other half of the pod had apparently just opened, judging from how it still wobbled slightly on its hinges. A glance down showed that I was wearing a plain white sleeveless shirt and plain white pants. In fact everything about my surroundings was completely plain and featureless.*

*But where was I, and why was I here? I was certain that I had never seen this place, with it's eerie pale green lighting and endless rows of mysterious pods, but the more I struggled to remember, the more I realized that I couldn't remember anything. Well, I could remember words and generic items and ideas, but I couldn't remember specific locations. So maybe I had been here before, and I just couldn't remember it. Already, the forest dream was almost gone. I couldn't remember what it looked like. All I could remember was that locations were supposed to have names, and I had been unable to remember one of those names. If the forest had a name, then where ever I was now, had to have a name. Did that mean I had a name, too? The grey cloud darkened. It was all very confusing.*

*I raised my hands to rub the sleepy feeling from my eyes, and came away with a handful of wires and tubes instead. There was a sharp pain in my sinuses and then another in both temples, and then the tubes tore loose, followed by the wires. I stared at them in dumb surprise, unable to comprehend their purpose. Quickly throwing them aside, I felt an unexplained urge to get away from the pod as soon as possible. I stood up, cringing as my bare feet met the cold floor. My legs felt rubbery, and I swayed from side to side, momentarily doubting whether I was intended to walk on two feet or whether I had simply imagined the concept. It did seem rather far-fetched, now that I thought about it. Wouldn't it be almost impossible to keep my balance? But moments later, my legs began to strengthen, as if remembering their purpose, and I stood up straight and looked around. Subconsciously, my right hand rubbed my naked left wrist out of habit, as I took a few steps.*

*The room was very quiet and very empty. It wasn't frightening, though. I rather liked the stillness. It was the only part of this whole experience that felt familiar. But it did seem like something was wrong with this particular silence. I had to have had some sort of accident, I reasoned, and have been brought to one of those places where they take injured people to recover. The pods, although I didn't recognize them, were where they placed, um, damaged people, until they could be fixed. But if that was the case, where were the workers who repaired the people? Who had repaired me and where were they now? Why was I alone? As considered these things, I became aware of myself taking long, deep, calming breaths, which removed my tension, yet I couldn't remember anything about the technique. It seemed that I had retained more of the subconscious than the conscious. It was good right now, but what if there were bad habits, too? That could be awkward. Oh well. Focus. Relax the shoulders. Breath in. And out. Take a step. And again.*

*And then, without any warning at all, I felt sick to my stomach. It was probably a result of the motion after so long in the pod (how long had it been?). Bending over, I vomited bright blue liquid into the pod I had just exited. It was utterly tasteless. As soon as it was gone, I could feel increased strength returning to my body. I turned away, not the least bit surprised by the blue color. It was just one more forgotten thing. It must be normal.*

*As I straightened once more, I finally caught sight of another living being --- A man dressed in clothes just like mine. He was squeezing through a door three rows over from me that had the distinct look of having been forced open. Hurrying forward, I tried to follow him, but I couldn't fit through the opening that had been made until I gave the door another shove with my shoulder. Entering the hallway beyond, I found it was dimly lit, barren, and empty. The mysterious man must have entered the turbolift visible at one end. No longer so certain that I wanted to meet the mysterious stranger, I turned and headed in the other direction.*

*I quickly found that as soon as I stopped paying any attention to my walking motions, my footsteps faded into utter silence, but as soon as I tried to pay attention and figure out how I was walking so silently, I started to become noisier and noisier. Deciding that being stealthy was more important than solving that particular mystery at this time, I turned my attention to what lay ahead. The approaching end of the passageway was actually a sharp left turn, and a faint, flickering blue light was filtering around the corner. Slowing to take one cautious step at a time, I peeked around the corner. Beyond, in a large room, were what I took by their dress to be two more of my fellow patients of this repair place for injured people, standing with their backs to me, staring out of a huge viewport. And they had good reason to stare: there was a fantastic passing light show of mottled blue and brown and grey swirls.*

*So this wasn't some accident ward in some major city. We were in hyperspace.*

"Wow." *I whispered in awe, taking a step forward.*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

I know. *He said as he took a step forward, his eyes never leaving the beautiful sight* But where are we? *He knew she didn't know the answer, the question was rhetorical, but to ease his own mind he asked aloud in the hope that maybe someone might show up and explain. Perhaps they were being monitored or maybe this was some experiment, but if that were the case then why didn't he remember anything leading up to waking up in the pod?**He looked back at her* And more importantly, why are we here? *He turned his eyes back to the viewport and extended his hand out to touch the barrier*

*The colors were streaming from right to left rather than coming straight at him so he knew that they were on the side of this ship, though how he knew that was a mystery to him. The sight felt familiar to him, it was again something that set him at ease. For some reason he felt more like he belonged in this place as he stared into the vivid colors of hyperspace, like he was at home. But why? He couldn't remember ever having been on a ship, he couldn't even remember being on this ship. All of this only left him with many more questions and far fewer answers.

"What was this place? It was obviously a ship of some sort, and from the look of these halls it was enormous, but what was it for? How did we get here? Where were they going? For that matter where did they leave from? Who put us here? Why did they put us here? Who is the crew? Where are they now? How long have we been here? Did I sign up for this? Is it some sort of experiment? Why can't I remember anything? What the hell is going on?"

Many more questions followed but few answers were found, and those answers only led to more questions. To say he was afraid would be an overstatement, but he was somewhat perplexed at the whole situation and the harder he thought about it the more his head started to hurt and the more jumbled the questions started to become*
*He hastily withdrew his hand from the viewport mere moments after touching it**He needed to relax, he needed to sort out the questions one by one, and he needed some answers, he counted slowly to five in his head and then the one question that hadn't popped into his head before entered his head now* Who are you? *He turned and looked at Terra**The test, he had no idea who this person that he had been taking with him was and he had no idea what this person's name was, and for that matter he didn't know what his was though he had tried to remember it. Could she be involved? Could this be some clever ruse to gain his trust and let his guard down?* What's your name?

*And then he started to wonder why he immediately turned to suspicion of this person who for all intents and purposes seemed to be in the exact position that he was. "Wait. What if I had something to do with all of this?" He thought as he started to realize facts, he felt at home, he opened the door with no problem, he even woke up first as far as he could tell. "But no, that doesn't make any sense. If I had something to do with all this then why wouldn't I remember anything?" His thoughts were interrupted by a silent "Wow" coming from behind him**Without thinking he pulled the woman with him behind him as he turned to face the person that had just arrived**His eyes narrowed and his brow furrowed as he looked at her, but it wasn't long before he realized that she was in the same position as they were. Lost, confused, but she was alone*

*He let up his guard slightly, but still stood between Terra and this new woman* Who are you? Where did you come from? *He didn't perceive this woman as a threat based on the way she appeared, but she was the only other person that they had met since awakening and that was enough to concern Adrien. And it was enough to bring up more questions. Were there more of these people? Could they all be the crew? If that is the case then are there others that are supposed to be waking up? And again if that were the case then why are their memories gone? So many questions, very little answers*

Re: Episode 1: Awakening

*Terra didn't answer him when he asked where they were. She didn't know where they were, but she also suspected that he was just asking a rhetorical question. She was starting to get scared from being on a strange ship with absolutely no memories whatsoever of her life and how they had ended up here. Somehow, she could tell that he was scared too even if he wasn't giving any obvious outward signs of fear.

She shook her head when he asked her what her name was, shivering slightly as she took a step back from him.*
"I can't remember...I can't even remember my own name..."*She took a deep breath in an attempt to stay calm. She wondered if he even knew his own name, wondered why he had suddenly asked her if she knew hers. It had seemed a bit sudden to her, but he had quickly backed off after asking her.

The hairs on the back of her neck stood on end as she got the unmistakable feeling that there was someone else approaching them, yet she had no idea where that sense was coming from or why she could tell in the first place. She just knew, and her mysterious sixth sense was confirmed when Adrien pulled her behind him as another woman approached them. She was dressed in the same way they were and she looked just as confused. She didn't say anything, letting him do the talking while she wondered jus how many others could possibly be aboard the ship besides them...*
