Senas Mithri

Built upon the hill unnamed by prior settlers, it was called Dol Seingalad (which means Hill of the New Light) by the people of Celeb Maethor, reflecting their new life, new home on the planet of Varonat. The city looked eastward over the Fields of Estel ├â┼Æn Lalaith, which were used for farmland, toward Beleg Anor, the capital of the Alata that lives with the Et├â┬®rno of Senas Mithri. The spires of Ost Aearech's (which means the City of the Seaspear) towers can be seen poking out of the sea from Senas Mithri.

Senas Mithri was built with seven concentric tiers culminating in the Citadel at the summit. Each of the seven levels stood a hundred feet (about thirty meters) higher than the one below it, each surrounded by a white wall, with the exception of the wall of the First Circle, which was black. The outer face of this outer wall, the lowest, was made of black stone; it was vulnerable only to earthquakes capable of rending the ground where it stood.

Each wall held a gate, and each gate faced a different direction.

The seventh wall contained the Citadel with the shining Tower of Aranel, which was three hundred feet (ninety-one meters) high, so that its pinnacle was one thousand feet above the plain. In a court before the Tower is planted the Nested Tree of Cugu, the symbol of Celeb Maethor. The topmost level also contained lodgings for the Guardians of Athan, the Royal House, Lhachpaur the Hall of Feasts, barracks for the Warriors of the Citadel, and other buildings for guests and other workers.

The first level included an inn, the Humble Swan. The wide paved street it is on is called Treasure Street (Rath Harma), which led to the gate.
