Re: Above the Planet

*There was a brief flicker of pseudo-motion along the axis that bounding Kuar's connection to the Koros Trunk Line, and three small spaceships popped into real space, from the direction of Empress Teta. The well-trained eye, or any modern scanners, would have identified themselves as a and a pair starfighters. As the small patrol group approached the outer edges of the planet's presumed defensive ring, a transmission was sent, hailing the ground.*

Re: Above the Planet

*There was a long pause, as the nearly abandoned planet's control centers were in no condition to respond to any such inquires. Almost the only remaining space-rated communications system was the one at the small, neglected KTLSA trading post in the planet's Northern Hemisphere. Captain Snedeker, the base's commanding officer, waited for anyone else at the Imperial level to respond, but it seemed that the Imperials had gone for good this time, just like FOIMU before them. His last report to Cinnigar had indicated as much, but if the recent reports of Krath uprisings were true, perhaps that was why he hadn't been sent any new instructions, equipment, or troops as a result. Snedeker had been about to go to the sector capital on Empress Teta himself, but now it looked like he might be able to spare himself the trip.*

Re: Above the Planet

*The gunship's commanding officer, Major Tusken Shao, was slightly taken aback by the belated response from the planet. It all fit into place now, well, everything except why Ordinii officials hadn't been receiving Snedeker's reports. Perhaps... yes. That was it. There had been a small uprising of Krath devotees, an ancient cult that had quickly been extinguished once more--but not before they had destroyed a comm center. The reports had probably just happened to be coming through in the midst of that carnage, and been lost in the shuffle. Shao just shook his head. But the important thing was that he complete his mission, and that mission would be far simpler now that Snedeker had made contact.*

*So his suspicions had been correct. Given the deserted state the planet was in, however, it was a good thing he hadn't had to leave. The place could be invaded at any moment, and his pitiful ground forces were not nearly enough to stave off such an invasion.*

Re: Above the Planet

*Tusken's eyes widened slightly as he suddenly realized just what he'd blundered into. These people needed help, and protection, and probably a lot of supplies, even if Snedeker hadn't said so yet. He had never been close to Snedeker or any of his men, as they had been assigned to Kuar since before Shao had left the Lehon Academy of War, but still, as a kindred soldier, he felt sorry for them. He wondered silently if heads would roll over this incident the way they had over the Hijarna crisis.*

*Shao turned to his communications officer.* "Willis, can you try to raise Grand Admiral Rakata? I know it's a little irregular, but only he can authorize an immediate occupation of the planet."

*A very long ten seconds passed, and then a crackly but wide awake voice responded.*

Re: Above the Planet

[narration:1q8np19p]Major Shao nodded respectfully and gave way to his superior officers, letting the Grand Admiral and the Captain work things out. His part was done, now all he needed to do was help Snedeker secure the system until the full force of the Mandos arrived to re-assert Mandalorian control over this historic system. Idly he listened in, one eye on the twin quarter-sized holos in front of him, and one eye on his tactical display, which was disconcertingly empty, besides his pair of fighter escorts. But suddenly all that changed.[/narration:1q8np19p]

[narration:1q8np19p]Major Shao snapped to attention, his surprise quickly fading as he hurried to meet the crisp order.[/narration:1q8np19p]

[npc name=Maj. Shao:1q8np19p][comlink:1q8np19p]Yes, sir! Coming right up![/comlink:1q8np19p][/npc:1q8np19p]

[narration:1q8np19p]The Neo-Crusader gunship's scanners were already trained full bore on the star destroyer, as trained and practiced Deep Core patrol staff knew just how important every second of information was. Especially when they were outgunned like this. That was also why patrol forces such as theirs had taken to keeping a constant link with their home base--It was hoped that, even in the case of a severe ambush, at most a few minutes of data would be lost. And the added benefit was, if a vessel stopped checking in, the Mando'ade knew where to come looking.[/narration:1q8np19p]

[npc name=Maj. Shao:1q8np19p]"Tanner! Get me some readings on the vectors that ship came in on, and see if you can backtrace it!"

"Skiffer! Start analyzing the weapons and shields on that big baby!

"Willis! Try to intercept any hypercomm transmissions!"[/npc:1q8np19p]

[narration:1q8np19p]The acknowledgments quickly came back from the three young conscripts seated behind him in the combination bridge/cockpit of the gunship. Shao smiled to himself. It was all a massive overreaction, but the Grand Admiral was watching, and he wanted to give a grand display of Mandalorian efficiency. Curious, Shao stared out the portside viewport again at the massive apparition, about a fifth of a planetary revolution away. Suddenly he felt very naked and exposed.[/narration:1q8np19p]

Get to Kuat, and Report to either Lord Bacca, Lord Mortale, Lord Havoc, or witchever New order of the Eye forces in system. Be ready, i should be rather hot in there... or high alert. ::

Re: Above the Planet

*It didn't take long for the sensor crew aboard the gunship to compile their reports, although by that time, the mystery ship had jumped to hyperspace once more, bound outward towards the Core Worlds, all without breaking it's comm silence. It appeared to just be an idle flyby or a stop for recomputing navigational coordinates, given Kuar's location along the major hyperspace routes, but there was also the dangerous possibility that this was some sort of scouting maneuver or a clever distraction. All available data was collected and reported efficiently.*

*In quick succession, the three other Mandalorian crewers gave their reports from each of their duty stations. all in all, it was an impressive display of their scanning ability.*

~

*Over the hypercomm feed from Lehon, Admiral Orsaa Rakata was quick to respond.*

~

*So that was that, then. Both officers were a little bit shocked by this pronouncement, but then again, Shao knew the colony on Eclipse was failing, in part due to its isolation, and in part due to massive corruption scandals that had effectively ruined the ability of the colony to trade with any of their neighbors on an even footing and without suspicion and distrust. Shao ordered his crew to take up watch duties, while he and Snedeker laid early plans for where a Mandalorian colony should best be begin.*

*A month had passed, and quiet had settled across the new-old Mandalorian world. A restoration project, aimed at rekindling the former glory of this historically Mandalorian planet, was well underway. It was hoped that not only would the new government of Kuar be able to benefit from the generation of trade along the Koros Trunk Line, but also attract tourism as many young Mandalorian warriors came to visit the site of the ancient Battle of Harkul.*

*Keeping station above the planet were the twin Golan-IV platforms, delivered to Kuar from the abandoned colony at Eclispe Station by an Incom Tug-class SuperCarrier. In addition, the Koros Trunk Line patrol fleet of Clan Ordinii, otherwise known as Battlegroup T'ad.*

*After seeing the new colony safely installed on the surface and the Golan platforms placed into high orbit, Admiral Gates ordered Battlegroup T'ad back into hyperspace, taking a short hop across the sector to the far more populous world of Koros Major, also known as Empress Teta. As the sector capital, Teta was the home port for his patrol fleet. With a flash of psuedomotion, the ships vanished.*

Re: Above the Planet

With a flash of pseudomotion, the alien form of Behemoth flashed into view. A massive ship of half a dozen hundred meters in length, its split hull giving it an odd appearence. In the Kuar system, the blackened hull was barely visible on the void dead-drop of space. Only the white winks of the running lights of the bridge and habitation sections were visible.

That suited Ravorp just fine.

The hulking beast of a man waited siltenty on the bridge, alone on the raised platform. He cast an unflinching gaze around the large bridge, built generally for ceremonial purposes. It wasn't tactically viable to have the commander the only figure visible from the viewport, while everyone else were in the sunken crewpits, going about their duties.

Ravorp smiled, showing a feral grin. They were at Kuar, the birthplace of Empire that had quickly died due to inactivity. Ravorp wouldn't go down that same route. A stationary enemy was a weak enemy. Kuar would be a staging ground, sure, but a secret one. There wouldn't be a interplanetary government until his enemies were dead.

But they had a while to do yet.
