Re: The Northern Hemisphere

Anaha scurried up the tree, looking more like a squirrel or a well traveled monkey. She did not have the tail for balance, but she had enough experience in trees to pick the stronger branches and wind herself up and over the wall. She slithered down from the tree like an arboreal snake to land light on her feet in a cat crouch at Ben's feet.

She turned her head to the left and then right scanning for any more troops, pricking her ears to strain through the oppressive silence. She stepped towards the trooper, preparing to remove his helmet and earpiece.

"I suspect, that they will be looking for him soon when he doesn't report." Anaha hissed in a whisper.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben nodded and pulled his knife out of the man's neck, grabbing his rifle. He gave the rifle to her and took his pistol back. He quickly scanned the area for any other guards immediately approaching.*
"Do you see any sort of datapad or anything on him so we can get the layout of the place?'

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

Anaha's hands flew deftly over the body after fitting the rifle in a holster at her side. She knew the armor design fairly well. While she did not have the same full suit, the armor she was given was similar in design as far as places to hold gear went. There was also the occasional battle under her utility belt that had allowed her to scavenge gear off fallen Republic forces.

She quickly located a datapad on the fallen man's hip, but the information they were looking for was password protected when she flicked the device into an on setting. She handed the piece of technology to Ben to see if he had any slicing or code breaking skills.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben took the datapad and gave it a once over, shrugging. He didn't have that sort of skill, John was the smart one.*
"Guess we use our eyes then, those towers must be where the turb emplacements are. Fewer troops here than I expected. Stay low and we'll hit the nearest one. I'll take point, still packing the gear to do this darlin'? It's not too late to bail."
*He gave her a crooked smile, holding one pistol up. He was clearly ready to go through with it, with or without her. Part of him still wished the pretty mirialan girl would run, but most of him expected she wouldn't. She was made of sterner stuff than most.*

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

She slipped the datapad back in the pouch. Slinking over towards Ben, she took the rifle from the holster and gave him a sidelong look that stated she was now firmly invested in this crazy endeavor. She held the rifle crooked under her right arm while the left was held ready at her belt where her incendiaries rested.

She peered into the night and hugged the shadowy wall as she scuttled for the nearest turret. She scanned the path looking for signs of a patrol.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben smiled, surprised when she started off ahead of him, bent low like she was he couldn't help but admire her shape for a moment as he followed behind.*
Shame I'll not get a chance to sample. War is hell that way.

*As they ran toward the first turb tower, Ben was still surprised at the lack of guards. They all had to be somewhere, and his plan began to form. When they reached the door at the base of the tower he flattened his back against the wall, drawing his second blaster. When Anaha followed suit he smiled at her.*
"Hit the pad, I'll clear, than we'll move up to the control level. Ready?"

Anaha nodded before she lightly brushed her fingers over the pad and offered a covering fire position so that Ben could sweep into the tower.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben turned and swept into the room, sweeping his pistols around.*
"Clear. Moving up."
*Ben started up the steps, his guns ready, trusting Anaha to be right behind him. When he reached the door he opened it and swept in like lightning, each gun barking once, killing two of the three men inside and trusting Anaha to kill the third.*

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

Anaha moved in behind Ben. Her shot clipped the third trooper enough so that he was unable to fire, but did not take him out. She fired a second shot into his chest that droped him to the floor, but causing more noise than she would like. She walked sideways along the wall scanning for more troopers.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben put his guns away for a moment and began taking a look at the workings of the turb.*
"Alright, plan is this. I'll deploy the explosives in the core here. Once they go off it will draw the entire base's attention to this tower. I will hold them here, while you slip to the other towers quickly and quietly and finish the job. Once the other two are out, get down to the motorpool. If I am not there to meet you, grab a vehicle and get out of here. Got it?"

She nodded but she did not like all of the details of the plan. She wasn't sure she should voice her opinions or not. In the army there was little room for argument, and she felt the same would be true in the company of mercenaries. She held her tongue and tossed him a thermal detonator from her pack. "They may have a Jedi in this base, watch yourself." She slinked to the door and gave a cautious peek outside. "See you at the motorpool."

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*He caught the TD and smiled.*
"Be careful darlin', be quick, and be quiet."
*He gave her a wink as she left, and he set the detonator into the capacitor of the turbolaser, closing the plating and taking a position at the entrance to the tower, pushing a cabinet down over the door as a barricade. He heard the TD atomize the inner workings of the turbolaser and he smiled as the big gun sagged without sufficient support and fell from the tower onto the ground outside the fort with a thunderous crash and explosion.*
Good luck Anaha...
*A few moments passed as he heard boots running toward him. He smiled and opened fire.*

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

Anaha had made it half way to the second tower where the turbolaser was housed when the explosion called for klaxons to blare throughout the fortress. She temporarily sunk into the shadows and hugged the wall as close she could, a team of troops thundering past from the base of the next tower. She only stayed put for a moment after they passed, continuing on to the next tower.

As she entered the tower she ran right into another trooper. Both were startled, but Anaha wedged the but of her rifle into the groove of the man's neck not properly covered by his armor and exposed from his surprised reaction. He gurgled and stumbled backwards into the tower. Anaha followed up by righting her rifle and putting a bolt through the man's neck. He crumpled to the floor and gurgled no more.

There was no one else in the room. The guard had been left to man the turbolaser and offer it some protection if necessary. He had been curious to find out what was going on in the other tower. Anaha, fumbled with a detonator, trying to set the mechanism while the adrenaline still pumped through her from that most recent confrontation. With several graceless attempts she ended up setting the thing to a wide spread before diving from the tower and rolling down along the next wall.

That tower went up with another explosion, but this one more grandiose and elaborate. It not only took out the turbolaser, but rained duracrete down from above as the whole tower expanded outward from the shock. The concussive force knocked Anaha against the wall like a rag doll. She was stunned, taking some time to recover her senses and move forward. There was a distinct ringing in her ears that she couldn't shake and a small trickle of bright blood streamed from her nose.

But she picked herself up and made her way to the third tower, striving to regain her senses enough along the way.

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Ben smiled as he took cover, hearing the sound of the second turbolaser going down.*
Good job darlin'
*He fired blind around the corner, trying to plan how he'd escape this particular situation.
His thoughts were cut short as they rushed his position. Three guards vaulted over the cabinet and Ben shot the closest down before diving away. The others turned to fire at him and he took cover behind a pillar. He swore as bolts tore into duracrete all around him.

Fate smiled on him then, as he noticed a power cell for the turbo laser next to a console. He grinned wickedly and rolled out of cover to fire at the two guards, killing them in three shots. He grabbed the heavy cell and dragged it across the floor, firing into the doorway to suppress the remaining guards. He quickly holstered his blaster and with a titanic effort lifted the cell, tossing it outside and picking up a blaster rifle from one of the dead guards. It landed to confused looks from the guards outside and Ben smiled, diving into cover and firing five quick shots into the power cell.

The explosion rattled his teeth and bones and left his ears ringing. He ran outside and jumped down from the wall into the courtyard, crashing through a shed and into what appeared to be a small Post Exchange. He gasped as the air was knocked out of his lungs but forced himself up. He grinned as he noticed he had landed conveniently near the liquor and cigarras. He helped himself to a pint of dodbri whiskey and two packs of smokes, taking a strong swig before stowing it in his belt case and raising the rifle.*

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

Anaha dragged herself to the next tower, faced with four guards who were at the ready outside the turbolaser's residence. They opened fire on her as soon as she stumbled forward. She was clipped by blaster bolts in half a dozen places as she tried to roll and find cover along the wall.

Abruptly the fire stopped and she felt someone grab her from behind, roughly by the hair at the base of her neck. It was cropped short there, but long enough so that her attacker to gain a good grip. She reached back to grab at whoever had hold of her, but felt her hand easily turned and twisted into her back. She still held her rifle, wildly trying to swing it behind her and drive it into the attacker's kidney.

Instead, she felt his strength slam her against the wall. The impact made her arm go numb, and her fingers loose the rifle over the side of the wall. Her ears still rang from the explosion, so she could not hear the man's words as he shouted, for it was a man that held her.

Grasping her tight, she felt him shift and leap into the air so that they fell rapidly to the courtyard below. She closed her eyes tightly prepared to feel the ground crush some important joint as it rushed towards them. But instead they landed as lightly as a feather.

She made an extra effort to free herself, or at least glimpse her attacker.

=Brinik Poteh=
The Jedi landed in the courtyard, his mind reaching out to the Force and other infiltrator he knew to be somewhere in the courtyard. His black eyes scanned the dark yard searching. He felt his sister redouble her efforts to escape.

In truth, he was glad to have captured her. This would ensure her safety throughout the rest of the war. But still, he knew she would fight him all she could to escape. Their familial bond was tenuous at best. They come from the same parents, same egg even, but they had been separated early because of his talents. They barely knew one another.

Brinik left his senses open wide to gauge the physical whereabouts of his query, the soldiers and guards clanking and creaking into position to surround the courtyard and cut off a means of escape. After the armor ceased clanking, Brinik called into the darkness that might hide Harlow.

"Please. We would rather have no more death and destruction here. Lay down your weapons and surrender. I will allow no harm to come to you."

Re: The Northern Hemisphere

*Benjamin snuck up on the motor pool, his knife out. He saw one guard and threw himself on him, covering his mouth and nose with one hand as he plunged the wicked combat knife into his heart. Ben lowered him gently to the ground and looked around briefly, picking out a fast speeder and moving over to it silently, he jumped into the pilot seat and began trying to hotwire the ignition.

It was then he heard the voice in the darkness. He swore bitterly to himself, sinking deep into the seat. Where was Anaha? He admitted he'd grown fond of the mirialan girl during their brief mission together, and he didn't wish to leave her. Taking a proactive stance, he popped out of the speeder and brought the rifle up, better chance of fighting his way out if he wasn't a sitting duck in a speeder. He took cover behind a tool shack and grabbed some more ammo off the dead guard. He decided if he was going down, it would be with a smart remark on his lips.*

"Death and destruction? Drop my weapons? I am sure I don't know what you mean mister, I'm just a simple country boy out for a stroll."
