Re: Open Terrain

*Priya took a step back in surprise, then glanced sidelong at Terrak. She had not been working the field as long as her companion had, but this was not her first rodeo, and she was not accustomed to being spoken down to by a client. After a moment longer, she returned her attention to Mike. Her tone had altered from light-hearted to leery.*

"...Thank you for the opportunity, but it sounds as though working under these terms, around your time schedule with disregard to our own, with decreased pay at your whim without negotiation, is just not going to work for us. At the risk of being patronizing, I still advise you respect a contract with mercenaries has to be agreeable on both sides. Just as you interview us, we are interviewing you. Good luck to you both."

*As she passed by them, she lightly brushed Devlin's shoulder and gave him a little jaunty salute.*

"Pleasure meeting you."

Re: Open Terrain

*Terrak smiles at Priya's words, and follows her towards the exit. As he passes the would-have-been employers, he gives a self satisfied "hmph" and intentionally crushes one armored foot down on what remained of the droids head.*

What she said.

Re: Open Terrain

*Two transports dropped down out of the heavy cloud cover and proceeded to drop in altitude as they continued across the the continent. The lead vehicle was an AIAT/i filled with a platoon of soldiers who would be training here as part of the new protocols placed by the PMC that they were working for. The second which followed closely behind was a freighter stocked to the brim with supplies for a forward operating site. The two ships continued on for about an hour before setting down two miles from the base of a mountain, on the outskirts of a spacious forest that offered little cover to those that may attack from that direction.

The sixty men who would be staying at this base formed up with the crews of the freighter and began unloading supplies while they began digging out a foundation for this site. The dirt that was dug up to make a even surface was placed in containers that folded into a cube that had an open top and could hold a square meter of material. These were placed two deep and two high around the perimeter of the base, with a small platform on the inner wall that would allow soldiers to stand on them and shoot over. The supplies were then taken and placed inside, which ranged from rations to sanitary equipment to munitions and etc. Everything that a base would need for day-to-day operations and prolonged fighting. There was enough here to supply the sixty men for three months, and that was if they ran into trouble. With everything unloaded from the freighter and in the hands of the platoon, they bid their good byes and took off. The AIAT/i and the freighter flew back the way they came, ascending into the atmosphere far from the base.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The operation started out slowly, but was beginning to pick up. The base itself was still under construction in some parts. More fortifications were being added daily, and stations such as the barracks and the armory were being rearranged and expanded to improve effectiveness. Soldiers that weren't doing that were on patrol. With a bare mountain with little to no cover to their west, their only sensible option of exploration was to the east. They started out slow like a cat; you circle your known 'safe' territory, expanding the circle everyday and taking note of the features as you did. With each day, your known territory expands outside of your last patrol, and repeat. The patrols took note of features in the nearby forest, such as defensible positions that would benefit them as well as the enemy. In time, they would begin to expand on those defensible positions that helped them and destroy those that would hinder them.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The base was essentially complete. The barracks, cleaning facility, aid station, ammunition dump, and other facilities were all up. Anti-air turrets were setup in various sections of the base, but set separately from the artillery that sat in the four corners of the base. Squads were still being sent further and further out into the woods, documenting the various types of wildlife and vegetation while scouting out the general terrain. All was going fairly well for the platoon of soldiers being trained for a sectional promotion/transfer to Special Operations.*
