Re: Open Terrain

[0 Hours. 32 Minutes. 35 Seconds.]

Planetside
Lieutenant Erias Halrik, Talon Squadron, Commanding Officer.

*As the sonic booms of atmospheric entry resonated through out the volcanic skies, a single squadron of TIE fighters descended to the planet's surface. The scream of their engines filled the air about them as they soared over head. This was what they all had been waiting for. Cramped up within the hold of a small frigate makes the nerves itchy and the sharp edges of your mind fray. Each and every single one of these fighter pilots relished the chance to prove their metal against the Horica pretenders, and now that chance had finally come. Over their squad level comms he could sense their battle lust, the eagerness of getting to grips with the foe, and bringing death from up high. He would make sure that the skirmish would be enjoyable, memorable, and worthy of song after their bodies had turned to ashes.

Jinking his fighter to dodge a spurt of flak, Erias refocused upon the raging battle before him. His squadron was the vanguard. They were the first Imperial forces to breach the planets shell and take the honour of first blood. A scream had emanated over the communication link as the flak fire had claimed one of his wingmen. Geron's rune had blinked out. Rage had began to take over his vision as the flak tanks came into view. His targeting computer blipped with glee as it had taken ahold of the enemy tank. His fingers depressed upon the trigger and he watched with vaunted interest as his chin mounted lasers tore into the durasteel hide of the tank. An explosion rippled along it's hull as the second volley had pierced the fuel tank. Several other explosions rippled nearby followed swiftly after by the sounds of cheering.

There was nothing that would stop the advance of the Imperial Army now, he thought to himself. This site was secured enough to land a pair of barges to set up a forward operations base. It was just the plan Command had in mind. Knowing that his squadron's efforts had paved the way towards this planet's liberation, the eleven remaining TIE fighters had peeled off from the wreckage and began to scream their way to their secondary objective. Pulling up the order upon his helmet's hololithic display, Erias quickly re-read that Talon Squadron was to play the part of Air support for the EVO troopers landing near the entrance to the main city. A smile had crossed his lips as he closed the display and punched his fighter to it's limits. If only he had one of the interceptors, maybe then he'd consider himself a suicidal speed freak.*

[0 Hours. 32 Minutes. 35 Seconds.]

Planetside, 3 miles behind designated Front Lines
Command Sergeant Major Logan Trelik, Evo Squad Delta, commanding NCO

*The pilots could hear the gunshots and cannons aimed at the ship firing, thier small shields and armor would make for a quick landing, other transport ships carrying the rest of the company would soon go in behind them. Calls began to echo through the landing ship.*

*Time stood still as sirens blazed.

That was when Sithspit got real, every soldier did their last minute checks. Gun was working check, armor okay, check. Remembered momma? Check.

The heavy cannon fire could be heard, it had struck an engine, but backups were working fine. Slowly it went into crunch time. Cursing and swearing could be heard as sergeants and lieutenants cursed their men to get the heck off of the ship.*

*Quickly and at a rapid pace were the men unloaded and the transport ship was off, in 30 minutes replacement err reinforcement Evo troopers would be on the way. Their first mission was to secure the landing zone.*

Re: Open Terrain

[0 Hours. 40 Minutes. 21 Seconds.]

Forward Operations Base
Located Four miles South of Byllurun/SoroSuub Central.

*Planetfall. Such a word was never sweeter to hear, than when it cascaded through the shipbound speakers of the landing crafts. The stormtroopers within howled their excitement, the silence from breaking through the atmosphere shattered by the winds of the volcanic air. If they could feel the heat through their magma plating, none cared to tell. Their voices had gone up in chorus as they had given voice to their pride. It was infectious. It spread out through the ranks as they had touched upon upon the ash wastes of Sullust. As blast doors slid open to reveal their armoured cargo within, Thousands of white shelled soldiers poured out into the dust.

This was the front line, a wall of white would move forth into the underbelly of the planet and liberate the system from Horica hands. Advancing platoon by platoon, resistance was met shortly after the brigade had made planetfall. Vile creatures of purple and black. Armoured in a heat resistant shell to protect them from the elements, they had made their push towards the initial Imperial landing zone. Thanks to the support of several Fighter tanks, their advance was swiftly halted. With their foe crumbling before the Iron handed surge of the Imperial Army, the ranks and file had moved forward. Supported by several walkers and speeders, they had covered a single kilometer free of hostiles before that all changed.

The enemy armour had shown it's face. Several units of brave Stormtroopers fell before the Horica's ruthless onslaught. The vengeance brought upon the enemy tanks was inflicted with thrice as many causalities taken by the brigade. These mutants were dying in droves, but their numbers were ceaseless, unending, abnormal. Rolling on through the ravaged corpses of their foes, several Stormtrooper platoons had peeled away from the main advance. They skirted around several rivers of lava and charged into the rear of the enemies first line of defense. Several bunkers were taken within the hour, reports of high hostile fatalities brought the Imperial morale surging ever skyward.

As the main force had began it's stunning advance, several units of Stormtroopers had remained at the landing zone. The Mobile command centre had slowly began to move forward, wanting to not only stay behind the main push, but not lose sight of the forces it commanded. Aboard this tracked vehicle, many soldiers were stripped of their armour. Blood began to weep from sores and wounds afflicted by close quarters combat with the enemy. Breathless stories of savagery emanated throughout the command crawler, but were quickly soothed by the Storm-medics and their aides. This was the very thing they had come to purify Sullust of. These mutated freaks that had once dared to call themselves human. It did the Imperials a pleasure to wage war for humanities purity.*

[0 Hours. 57 Minutes. 13 Seconds.]

Forward Operations Base
Located Three miles South of Byllurun/SoroSuub Central.

*Progress had been painfully slow. The advanced had halted three times since the landing had taken place at the fourty minute mark of the count. Dozens of imperial soldiers had lined the route from the landing zone, caught in dangerous close quarters or ended by the range of Horica snipers. Several pieces of armour had been wrecked by the shoulder mounted rockets the Horica filth had managed to deploy. The FOB had seen all of this as it had made its approach through the ruins that the Imperial army had left in it's wake. The dead were collected from the remains of the ruined tanks, and from the battlefield. Each were to be given a heroes death after the conflict had concluded. They were soldiers of the Empire and they deserved no less.

The frontlines were some of the thickest fighting that had ever been encountered by the brigade. Hundreds of dead Horica troops had littered the volcanic expanse before Sorosuub central. Nearly matching their numbers was the amount of smoking ruins their armoured columns had left behind. It was a scene of total devastation. One could only wonder what twisted determination had kept these Horica soldiers from breaking, Command chalked it up to their primal instincts overtaking their training. The soldiers on the ground knew it was nothing more, than they had no where to run. When faced by a rabid animal backed into a corner, all aspects of tactical strategy was tossed from the playing field. The Imperial Army had broken their orbital hold over the world and through the Iron will of determination brought their heretical armies to heel.

Blaster bolts and rockets tore into the Horica lines, tossing up pieces of bloody armour or volcanic ash as the Imperial's advanced. It was a scene that repeated itself over and over again until there was nothing left to block their passage. Then the army had surged forward, only to be blocked once more. It was tedious and they had a strict time limit to meet. If they had not gotten to the city limits by the time an hour had past, their window would not remain open and their straight shot into Sorosuub Central would be lost. Pushing themselves harder than ever before the Brigade charged into the enemy ranks, tearing them asunder with iron treads or vibroblades. Blood fell like a river as the two armies had met, and through the strength of martial discipline one would surmount this obstacle.*

[1 Hours. 57 Minutes. 13 Seconds.]

Forward Operations Base
Located at the Entrance of Byllurun/SoroSuub Central

*Blood and sand. That was the gift the Imperial army had given to the Horica's. Their armed forces stationed here were slaughtered to a man, nothing but dust and echos had remained in the Empire's wake. Losses were minimal, but yet each soldier that had fallen was treated as a hero. Stormtroopers were a rare sight in the Imperial Remnant, and were rarely deployed en-mass like here upon Sullust. The fact they had performed so well was due in part to their training, shock troopers were the best of the best, and have proven their mettle time and time again with the kill ratios weighing heavily in their favour. The inexhaustible forces of the Empire once before were a thing of the past. The old tactics of wars of attrition had been replaced by strategic strikes at enemy strongholds rich in resources. Strike where least expected, and strike with all your might. That was the way of war the Remnant had adopted, and thus far have proven to be the true angels of death in this universe.

Walking over the corpses of the fallen Horica soldiers, several stormtroopers had made their way towards the cities entrance. Flanked by several sections of the brigades armour units, they walked with the thoughts of invincibility. Nothing could stop these abominations from being crushed underneath the treads of Imperial Justice. It would not be long before this realm would be brought into Imperial compliance, and then once their base of power had been built, it would spread like a noxious weed and infect the nearby systems. Soon this hub world would be the capital pipeline into the greater galaxy.

Follwoing closely behind the sections of infantry and armour, the FOB moved into the entryway. There the system would deploy it's command function and as the rearguard to the advancing Imperial forces. Their strike would have no doubt brought elements of the planetary defense force gunning for the capital. Having fallen behind, several squads of the Empire's elite had taken up the defense platforms and waited for the tide of xenos to crash against their bulwark. The empire had made their strike, they had crippled Sullust's PDF and have struck a blow from which the Horica's may never recover. The shipyards would soon be theirs, the resources in which to fund the Imperial war machine would soon flow, and their total victory was ensured.

Once the underground was cleanse of these abominations, the planet would truly be theirs.*

Re: Open Terrain

Interlude

*The Imperial Pacification was complete. The bulk of the Horica forces had taken a ninety percent causality rate and broke under the strain of the Empire's righteous wrath. The remnants of the mutated vampire population were driven under ground, further into the molten depths of the Sullust system. In time, Hunter teams would bring that rate to a full, and compete one hundred percent in time. For the moment however, the Imperial army would secure the ground they had garnered and begin rebuilding what managed to get destroyed in the process of their liberation. As the revered fallen were being gathered, several magma plated auot-loaders began collecting the armour that was busted open. There were dozens of vehicles blown to smithereens by the artillery of the Horica's, and others imobilized by the carelessness of their drivers. Yes, even the might of the Imperial Armed Forces could be defeated by a single misjudgment.

With the fields of battle cleared, reinforcements began to pour down from orbit. Supplies, Mining equipment, and a pair of Prefabricated garrisons to ensure security. With the destruction caused by the Empire, they were able to reshape much of the Capital city to suit their needs. Though working within a densely packed cavern, not much would be changed. Other than the route to the spaceport being secured with checkpoint after checkpoint. Visitors would find themselves surrendering their privacy to ensure that the imperial governance here remained unquestioned and absolute. Though many had seen it harsh, they did not see the benefits of such security. No offworld terrorists would find themselves seeping into the population to cause troubles to the peaceful inhabits of Sullust. There were other examples, though far from prevalent as the one mentioned.

With mining equipment being shipped in from HIGHCOM, Sullust's natural resources would soon find themselves being re-purposed to fuel the warmachine of the Remnant. The capital city was on it's way to becoming the indomitable fortress of the Imperial presence here upon Sullust, from there they would spread throughout the planet and cleanse it of traitors, Horica's and agents known to be affiliated with foreign factions. Then, and only then would the Orbital drive yards of Sorosuub be annexed by an Imperial sympathizer. So much to do and so little time. There in the Empire had set to work, utilizing Off-duty Stormtroopers as miners and construction workers. it served a dual purpose to the people of Sullust, to show that their protectors had faces underneath their helms and assisting them in returning everything to normal.*

*Zabarian Corporation CEOs have managed, through many personal contacts and favors, to depart the planet. Their stay here had been most productive, and their employees some of the best in the galaxy. It was a shame to leave many of these loyal employees homeless and jobless. Informers would keep the Corp informed of the progress of the Governing of the planet. The rewards given to the locals would not be forgotten nor erased from memory.*

Re: Open Terrain

*You would think on a planet as desolate as this that you would find little to no life, but the truth was that there was so much of it on this planet, you would find it strange and perhaps confusing. An creature at first appearances appears to be made of ash flies over the head of Darth Tysabaar but it would seem as though nothing when a Fury-class Starfighter tears overhead. If Tysabaar was delving as deep in the force as one could imagine right now, he might sense the change in atmosphere as the ship flew overhead. I, Diabolus, had come to Sullust, and things here were about to change.*

*If this Sith were to follow the direction of the ship, he would find me in the capital city of Byllurun. A change of the governmental system was about to happen. A shifting of gears, and Sullust would be once more a major outlet of products for the galaxy. I had massive plans for this planet, it's mining corporation known as SoroSuub, and it's sub-divisions that produced anything from home appliances to droids to large warships. Perhaps Darth Tysabaar would find me, perhaps he would fail, who knew but him?*

*Darth Tysabaar, senses the Starfighter as it approaches. He looks over head and realises that it is heading for the capital. There was a disruption in the force as he felt it approach. The was most definitely a force sensitive being on it. One with a most objective motive. He decides to follow it and see what he finds.*

*Darth Tysabaar approaches the capital city of Byllurun and lets the force guide him to the being he sensed. As he approaches he immediately realises he is in the presence of a fellow Sith, one with most notable powers, quite easily sensed. Whether one worthy of his acquaintance he is yet to find out.*
