*Ashla chuckled and kissed him as she popped open the belly hatch on her Defender, putting their bags into it.* "I'll use my usual good taste and find a nice lair for us, near the Palace District or Republica judging by the address, then I'll wait in a plaza or something outside. Comm me when you arrive and I'll tell you where to meet me, then we'll go deliver the Disk. Alright?"

*Brynden nodded and smiled.*
"Very well. I will meet you when I arrive. Fly safely, I love you Ashla."
*He gave her a goodbye kiss and started off to get back to his ship.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*The day was warm, the sun was bright, and the crowds were cheerfully bustling about the city. Among them, a tall, broadly-built Zabrak strode, a heavy pack strapped across his shoulders, breaking the tide of near-humanity. A positively tiny, eager-looking Turazza trotted along in his wake, large green eyes darting from sight to sight in a vain attempt to take in everything.*

*Daryk glanced over his shoulder to make sure Essie was still keeping up. After a moment, he paused, ignoring the continuing press of crowd to pick her up easily by one arm and lift her to sit atop his shoulders. Even by Turazza standards, the youngling female was eensy, barely half a meter high. She grinned widely, long green tongue snaking out briefly as her eyes danced with excitement.

Daryk smiled as well, adjusting her hands briefly so they would not cover his eyes so much.*

"Take a good look, darlin'. We're only here for a coupl'a days."

*Daryk and Essie strode past shops, dining facilities, hotels, inns, taverns, pubs. Into the outskirts of town. As afternoon came and went, they found themselves in a semi-suburban industrial area. By the time dusk came on they were fully beyond the city, out in deep rural, wild terrain.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*It had taken far too long foe the local Hapan Defense Force to arrive to the scene. But when they did it was a sight to see: dead bodies strewn here and there. There was what appeared to be leftover grey-matter from the Twi'lek female among the victims. There was evidence of some sort of struggle, or rather...it was more like evidence to a firefight. There was a pair of doors, smashed beyond repair and hanging askew on the hinges.

HD Trooper Xlais had never seen so much carnage since the council-bombings some three years ago. Of course then, like now they had no idea who had murdered all these people or why. Lost in his reminiscing, Xlais nearly missed it. There was a small glint of light just off the side of the street. Walking over he gingerly picked it up to examine it; Spent shell casings. Now they were getting somewhere.*

*Xlais turned and ran to his superior officer to report his findings.*

etwas spater

*Some time later, they had their preliminary readings on the shell casing. Their mystery assailant used at least one high-caliber hand-held slughthrower. What was more, by the trauma on one of the victims the assailant was either of massive strength and size or... No, it couldn't be. Xlais was cautious to even think the term "Force User". Hapans had a natural distrust of all force users, they saw them as unnatural and evil. They were given strict instructions to apprehend any force users they encountered. Thus far Xlais hadn't even heard of one being caught, let alone come across one himself. He was almost giddy with excitement at the mere notion of taking down a possible force user.

Of course, if they were after a force user...that made this game all the more difficult, and dangerous. As most force users were able to...what was the term?...sense, yeah...sense danger coming and evade it...or eliminate the source of the danger.*

*The investigation that followed for the next few days came up with very little evidence or leads to move on. They would unfortunately have to wait until the culprit struck again.*

*Naturally it didn't take very long for the reports of a madman gunning down innocent civilians to reach the Hapan Defense Force base in Ta'a Chume'Dan. It took even less time for units to be dispatched to the scene.
Almost immediately, the area was swarmed with 500 Hapan Defense Specialists wearing their specialized "" (a bonus to their current arrangement with the NOE. They quickly blocked off the entire area and moved in slowly, brandishing their menacingly. Overhead an kept watch to make certain the suspect didn't do anything stupid. They activated the external loudspeakers and called down to Saulthril.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*Naturally, the Hapan's reaction to the lightsabers was quick and engraved into their mind.
Lightsabers equal a Force User.
Apprehend all Force Users.*

*The reaction was blindingly fast, even for a non-force swat team: The blaster rifles (set to stun) lanced at the hostile from no less than 19 different vectors.*

*As the stun rounds pelted the (now compliant) suspect. Xlais ran up as quickly as his feet and armor would allow and snapped a thin metal band around the suspect's neck.

The metal band was a neural disruptor, meant to keep those with "the gift" from wielding it to escape. It caused headaches and otherwise limited the brain's higher functions. So, the subject didn't die...but they would be unable to do very much of anything else.*

*Two officers grabbed the suspect's arms and bound his wrists with energy-cuffs as added precautions. They then lifted his body and drug him to the back of a speeder.*

*They would first take him to a holding cell until a justice of the people could be contacted and brought forward to pass verdict and stand official over the trial.*

Etwas Spater

*It had been several hours before Justice Zratpt made his way into the holding chamber. Looking over the defendant he shook his head. This certainly didn't look like an all-powerful force-user, unconscious and held in a force cage with hands bound and neural disruptor around his neck. But the Judge had the reports of the officers. And what's more, he had the lightsabers in his hand...He hadn't even heard of anyone using one of these without being a force user, let alone two of them.*

*an adrenaline mixture was injected into the force-cage's nutrient system, and the defendant would be awake within minutes. Cognitive enough to answer questions and understand what was being said. But still subdued enough to keep him from using the Force.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*The judge was quick to begin as the defendant was awoken from his sense-deadened slumber.*

Sauthril - "What am I doing in this cage?"

*The Judge held up his hand, not verbally interrupting the defendant but most certainly getting the point across that he was not to speak unless spoken to.*

*As was said before, the judge didn't wish to waste any time.*

*The look on the judge's face clearly said he didn't care what the plea was, nor did he care what the circumstances were. Hell, the guy wasn't even sitting at a desk. This obviously was no more than a formality to these people. Since the judge had listed being a force-user last, it was obvious that this was the most severe of crimes. Often the case (at least mentally) on many worlds.*

Sauthril - "So this is how we treat guest on are planet? First your complacency. Now this cage, though as fine craftsmen it is, I don't like the interior very much."

*The Judge sighed and nodded to the guard standing off to the side near a switch on the wall.*

*The guard quickly threw the switch for a small amount of time, sending a painful but not debilitating shock to the force cage.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*After some great time and a very serious set of questions. Finally the judge is forced to proclaim the defendant a force user and insane, therefore a public menace. Though the Hapan's do not believe in capitol punishment, the defendant stands for everything that the Hapan people abhor. Therefore, the judge reluctantly sentences the defendant to wander among the Transitory Mists in an escape pod. Until either he dies, or finds a life for himslef somewhere else.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*Hours later, at the outer edges of the city, Commander Willis Djo was stopped by a patrol. Or, more correctly, he spotted them eating lunch outside of a very cheap restaurant, and accosted them himself. The military commander, alone and relatively unarmed, parked his bike, and approached the men on foot, his uniform shining and twinkling as it caught the sun's rays. By comparison, the Kommandant's troopers were poorly dressed and looked careless. They stared at him in surprise and confusion.*

=Cmdr. Djo=
"I am Commander Willis Djo, head of the Hapan Royal Navy, and your most wanted outlaw. I have heard of the abandoned plight of the Hapan people and of the foreign troops sent to rule her, and I come to offer all of you a better future." *He stopped, waiting, and eyeing them curiously. Several chairs moved as other patrons jumped up and hurried to the open windows of the establishment to listen.* "What say you? Will you arrest me and take me before your leaders? Or will you join with me?"

*The two troopers stared in confusion for a moment, then glanced at each other.*

=Trooper=
"Sir, we will do neither." *One replied, finding his tongue first.* "Our commanding officers will decide. Please, come with us, as our guest. No arrest." *He saluted, and motions for the others to follow him.*

*Moments later, they were underway again, Djo on his speeder, and the troopers on theirs. A crowd was forming in the street by this time. Dirty, dejected, hungry faces appeared everywhere, curiosity and hope written on their faces as they recognized the uniform of the tall, lanky man who had appeared as if by magic.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*A parade was held in honour of the new Queen Mother's first year in rule. Crowds piled out in the city and proclaimed their favour and gratitude. A new era of peace was upon the people of Hapes and it will continue so long as they can keep it. Hapes was not an ideally strategic position and a difficult place to navigate to. Even so, the Queen waves as she is lead down the procession. She makes a speech about the changes she is going to make for the betterment of the government and how she is here for the good change. The crowds roar with approval and many are sure that the men busily working away in the shipyards could hear them. Nur'ore'nchaff let the broadcast head to all the screens in the shipyards allowing them to watch their queen.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*The Queen Mother has drawn up her chief financial advisers and notable Hapan Economists to work out their economic situation. The budget has been high for their military forces recently in order to make the system safer from outsiders. Hours are spent until a resolution is discovered. Rather than raise taxes they begin to cut spending in other places, to the disgruntlement of the officials their pays are cut back by thirty percent. Employment has never been higher and taxes are steady, so the economic state should increase soon enough.*

*The military bases are retrofitted better to suit the Hapan Defense Force and actions are taken to prepare the troops for their training. The forces are becoming stronger every day and the pay has risen for those serving in the military to encourage more men to join the dangerous work. Veteran benefits are added as well including free health care for all men who serve. Weapon production is increased within the factories increasing jobs there. Mining industries increase and men flock to join the high paying jobs. The economic boost will not come for time, and for now the money is draining out of the treasury.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

=Cmd. Willis Djo=
*Making his way to the Royal section of the spaceport, Lord Protector Willis Djo checked that his personal Miy'til starfighter had been properly fueled and serviced, then placed his personal effects in the tiny cargo area, and eased his tall frame into the cockpit. Lowering the canopy and latching it in place, he punched the well-worn engine start button, and smiled as the four Incom fusial thrust engines roared to life.* *It had been too long since he'd been able to fly openly, without fear of capture by the Sith. And this time, he was going to keep things that way.*

*A musical chine sounded as the engine indicator light turned from amber to green, and Willis adjusted his posture in the seat, then clasped the controls firmly in both hands, and eased the stick forward and up.* "Yes, yes... this is more like it." *He murmured to himself as he ascended slowly above his beloved homeworld, and broke atmosphere.*

*It was temping to linger and admire his home, but he had a job to do -- possibly the biggest yet of his long career. With that in mind, he turned his attention to his flying.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*Zane walked out of the tavern with a feeling of disdain as he wiped the last vestiges of the cheap ale he'd been drinking from his mouth. He wanted to spit - ten credits for the watery brew was highway robbery, and with how scarce work had become for the crew had grown lately, he didn't need to be tossing credits into the 'fresher on subpar alcohol. That said, the fake stuff wasn't what he needed right now. Just something to take the edge off, and even that couldn't go his way.

He checked his 'pad, rifling through news reports and stock prices before arriving at what he was looking for; a manifest of arriving transports, which he dutifully cross-referenced with a search of local news broadcasters to identify which transports would, potentially, hold high-value government employees, celebrities, or other individuals that would evoke a high ransom or perhaps some stealables that would finance his privateering group's less-than-savory tastes.

Of course, such individuals came through Hapes at a regular clip - the Queen Mother, one of her royal consorts, and so on. The problem was that they were usually exceptionally well-guarded, and that was a point of continuing frustration for him since arriving here with the assurance from one of his subordinates that such would not be the case. "Ripe for the picking," he'd said, right before their first attempted hijacking had landed a blaster bolt square between his eyes. Now they didn't have the credits to get off-planet, and here they languished while waiting for an opportunity to get themselves offworld and into some other profitable venture.

Needless to say, when he found a public transport that boasted not one but TWO galactic senators, he nearly did a double-take at the small screen he held. He grinned to himself, then keyed his 'pad to voice mode. He connected himself to his Zabrak cohort's communicator, then spoke.*

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

His communicator went off like an unpleasant alarm clock on the night stand that was on his side of the bed. Cabral's muscular arm rose and with his big, right palm did he pick it up, hear the message left for him and dropped it on the ground. His face remained comfortably on the pillow which held it, his eyes barely open though a snarled lip indicated that he loathed being awake, even if morning had come and gone hours ago.

The night before had proven to be bountiful and the booty was ripe for the taking. Literally. Not only was he able to find company of the fair faced ladies on Hapes more nights than not of late, he did so without having to waste any of his own, and dwindling, funds. The night before, he found himself in a pub, devoid of adequate funds for a seventh drink and lo and behold a bachelorette party came into the pub.

Cabral remembered standing at the fake wood trimmed bar. The top of the bar was as sticky and uncared for as the floor beneath his boots. Unbeknownst to Cabral, he swayed back and forth as his unabashed gaze found the eyes of a woman in the group with some tiara on her head...or something, so he thought.

His eyes belied his best efforts to appear as though he was not inebriated. Though intially greeted with a chilly reception from the woman and her friends, eventually one thing led to another and the Zabrak and his lady for the night were back at her place. Clearly the woman didn't care how much his revolting breath reeked of cheap alchol and death sticks for the two fornicated that evening.

And now he was jolted from a restful sleep by his communicator. Tried as hard as he did, he could not get back to sleep. He lay still for a moment with blinking eyes, and a deep breath before he rolled over to his back. Beside him his lady lay asleep. Her hair was a mess, and her naked body was barely covered at all by the once clean sheets that happily rested upon this bed seemingly never before disturbed before the night before.

Across from the bed in which he rested, was the woman's dresser. After scrolling it apathetically as he gathered the energy to get up and dressed, his eyes fell upon the tiara from the night before. Across the center of it read "BRIDE". The Zabrak's eyes went wide and he jumped up from the bed waking the woman who was sleeping next to him.

He was frantically grabbing his clothes and belongings, dressing himself in haste and horror.

=Woman= "What?"

"Nothing. You're just getting married and I better get out of here before..." There conversation was interrupted by pounding at the door. Cabral quickly made it to the window and looked down at the doorway below where a large, physically imposing, man was knocking on the door and, promptly let himself in.

"Sithspit." Cabral began to panic. "I have to get ou-" The door to the bedroom opened up with the husband-to-be (who probably won't be thereafter) standing in horrific rage as Cabral had one leg hanging out the bedroom window. "It was fun, babe. Good luck with the...ah screw it." And leapt out of the window and landed, with little grace, on the deck below. Wasting no time, Cabral ran down the street and down a corner street and stopped to catch his breath laughing to himself a bit, in between gasps for breath.

His moment was abruptly brought to an end when he felt a hand on his shoulder, violently grab him, turn him around and hit him with so much force that it nearly knocked him out on the first punch.

Hubby was not happy.

After a few minutes of a very one-sided fight, Cabral got knocked around something fierce. Eventually, the husband relented in his beating of Cabral when the police arrived after a few neighbors called to report the incident.

The Zabrak was found laughing by the time the police arrived. He denied medical attention, did not want to press charges and thought to himself that the husband was fortunate enough to find him still hungover from the night before or the bride-to-be might have found herself with a corpse for a groom.

This was "Killer" Kenny Cabral, after all. Even if he was a little past his prime, often too drunk to stumble to his home and not as strong as he used to be. However, he was just as quick to anger and had lived a long, hard nomadic lifestyle as a pirate.

He had fallen on hard times. It happens. He was also aging. That happens too. He knew Zane would make good on a job eventually for he and the crew to get in on. It was just a matter of time.

After Kenny brushed the dirt off himself, he fixed his old patches he called clothes and limped down to the bar where Zane and he did often rendezvous. Once inside, Cabral found himself sore from the altercation and knew that he would be feeling as such for a few days.

Nevertheless, he took a seat at a table that Zane found himself at and sat down. A waitress came over and Cabral ordered a shot of hard, though cheap, liquor. The Zabrak smile showed rotted, yellow teeth. He couldn't even open one of his eyes given the beating he had found at the hands of the man whose fiancee he had just spent the night with and Cabral seemingly didn't care. Although, he did say something to Zane in between laughing.

"The jobs might not be easy here but the women are."

Re: Ta'a Chume'Dan

*Zane offered Kenny a cynical look, and flipped his datapad open with a tweak of his eyebrow that said "now, of all times?" He himself had bigger things to worry about than the local cut of meat - things like finding out where their next meal would be coming from. Luckily, with this potential heist, that might be solved for the next few months if they played their cards right.*

"Found a target. Two Galactic Senators, traveling coach to make a point about public transit and the plight of the average galactic citizen or something. Armed retinue, of course, but with a little jurisprudence and some choice application of firepower," *he raised an eyebrow at this and gestured his head to Kenny, indicating that would be his role,* "we can intercept them once they make ground, hijack a transport, and collect a nice tidy ransom from our friendly galactic government."

*He flicked through his pad, pulling up the list of the locals they'd drawn into their little merry band alongside the few others that remained from the original crew that had made planetfall some time ago. In total, it was perhaps a dozen, maybe half again that of pirates of varying caliber.*

"The transport's itinerary is, of course, encrypted, but luckily a little mynock told me that the ship will be entering the Hapan system at this time tomorrow. Figure another hour for customs and docking, and we've got twenty-five standard hours to prepare ourselves and set our trap. How soon can you have everyone ready?"
