I want Descent again.

Okay, so these two games are staples of my early gaming life, and I would very much like to have them back in playable status on my PC with Windows 7, but I have too little time this week and next to do such scoping about. All the links I get on google are crap tastic, filled with spam and false advertising.

If you have not yet had the pleasure of playing these most fabulous games, imagine an FPS-flight simulator. Yeah, that's right. The fact that you strafe about in zero-g environments with your keyboard while you veer and steer with your joystick, unloading your awesomely vast arsenal relentlessly onto haywire mining and security droids.

The fact that you can strafe about an enemy in an entire spherical area and unload is pure bliss that I can't find in any other game. Forsaken on the N64 was quite similar, but it fell short of Descent by a long shot. I want these games again, as I'm sure others on JvS do/should as well. Find me a legit source to download from that'll work on Windows 7 or some DOS prompt or emulation software, and I'll be the happiest gamer here. ^_^

Descent:

Descent II:

Re: I want Descent again.

I got my copies of Descent and Descent II from Good Old Games. () Cheap too.

Re: I want Descent again.

Thanks dude. Seem to have struck gold here. Might pick up a few more while I'm at it.

Won't accept my bank card, though. You use PayPal?

Re: I want Descent again.

Yup! They tend to be picky about bank cards, mostly to protect you. But PayPal is free to use, so...yeah. :) I also got both Baldur's Gate games from them, all the old King's Quest RPGs, Heroes of Might and Magic, the Ultima series...yeah, basically revisiting my childhood through GoG. :)

Descent was easily one of my favorites, though. Nothing like blowing the Sithspit out a fusion reactor with a hail of concussion missiles, then escaping the mine with seconds to spare on the fringes of a massive explosion. Adrenaline rush like you cannot believe. And that's nowadays. When I first played it when I was 9? Holy Sithspit.
