Re: Books

It died! Holy crap! All of that stuff we talked about in the old thread!!!

My heart is broken. Literally. Kill every other thread, but not the book discussion thread. Methinks that someone pressed a wrong button.

And now I'm dying on the inside....

Re: Books

Word, Avei.

I could have cared less about all the other threads in here, as generally they were just links to videos (RIP Lando Calrissian: Blackstar Warrior) and jokes, but the book thread was something I really enjoyed. It was there from the beginning, alongside the games and video threads, which somebody unstickied at some point.

But every time I saw someone had unstickied the book thread, I was right there to resticky it. I wasn't about to let that go to archive.

Anywho, what happened here was that one of us was attempting to clean out the archive folder but hit the wrong button when it came to deletion. I can sort of understand how it happened since the button for the SW forum is right beside the button for the archive forum.

Still *tears* mebooks. Me wonderful wonderful books! This is almost as heart wrenching as the loss of the count to 1,000,000.

Re: Books

Timothy Zahn

Choices of One

read it.

Not his best, imo, but a great read if you love Star Wars and if you like to see the Hand of Judgement, the Emperor's Hand, the Rebel Alliance, Vader as not a nemoidian, and Thrawn.

Re: Books

Zahn, Denning, Allston usually throw out good work. Traviss did too, until they axed her Sithspit over that stupid cartoon.

Truce at Bakurra

Kathy Tyres

also a good one. read it if you haven't

Stackpole is second to Zahn, imo, but I just like what he does with his characters: they move the plot forward. Very RPish.

Re: Books

Stackpole is good, I forgot about him. I, Jedi is probably one of my favorite books. Between him and Denning, the X-wing series was a lot of fun. It also provides a lot of useful information about how naval battles in the SW universe work.

I have to say, I have not been a fan of Christie Golden's work so far. I really wish that Traviss could have written for the Fate of the Jedi series instead.

Re: Books

Wow, what a shame to see so much stuff gone. I guess it happens. I was wondering why it was so clean.

So I was in the Barnes and Noble a few days ago and they had the 20th Anniversary of the Heir to the Empire book, Hard cover with footnotes (actually side notes but whatever) all over the place from the author. I was glancing through it reading the notes. It was pretty cool. Next time you are in the store look at it few a few mins.

Last I heard, GL and the rest of the folks making Star Wars plan on trying to fit Traviss' stuff with the canon the cartoon brought. Hopefully it will be explained properly. From what previews had shown of the current season, it looks like Death Watch will eventually take over Mandalore, and therefore, fit it into the Mandalore that Traviss created.
