What can I say, the truth must be told. The truth about skywalker...and the whales. Don't forget the whales.

Re: The End?

[quote="Templus Cro":2kn8sof6]Luke is the longest surviving character in SW history, counting chronology of RL appearance, not canon chronology. No, R2-D2 and C-3PO do not count. Why? They are comedic plot add-ons. That have become necessary. In fact, they had no purpose but to properly tie-in the Tantive IV's capture to Luke's adventure. And then Lucas got all darn attached to R2 and let him live after being hit by Vader's blasts.[/quote:2kn8sof6]

[action:2kn8sof6]wispers[/action:2kn8sof6] You meet Leia before you meet Luke :)

Well sense I dont follow anything past the YV series as canon (and even then Ive yet to read that, even though Ive partially accept it) I would say old age after establish peace in the galaxy. If anyone deserves that type of end it is him.

Re: The End?

Personally, I'm hoping for a certain astromech droid to malfunction and send his ship into a moon.

But that's just wishful thinking...

Re: The End?

Abeloth will grow to unstoppable levels. Luke Becomes pure LIght Side energy and the resulting power obliterates him and her. its dumb, but i bet that is what will happen. Why else would the series be called "Fate of the Jedi"? Luke has to end up dead.

Re: The End?

I sure the hell hope so, honestly.

But how does Abeloth grow?

She's growing progressively weaker every time Luke beats her down. And note: even in her strongest mode, she got beat down. And then Luke beat her down a second time, and a third time.

The writer's had better not do something magical to fix the wreck they'll have if Abeloth becomes uber powerful all of a sudden. It had better make a good portion of sense, or I'll force them to atone for their atrocities against the written word.

Re: The End?

Back to Luke -- after delivering the pain to the Emperor multiple times, and to Darth Vader, and to Abeloth, and to so many other people, I do not hink he will die by violence. It would be a little anti-climactic. Maybe self sacrifice (as in someone has t ostay behind to make sure the bomb goes off), but I'd throw my two cents in on old age. Thats how Yoda bit it. Besides, the more iconic the character, the more likely they die of old age. i'd give examples, but if I did, I'd probably be stoned to death here.

Re: The End?

I meant examples of iconic characters (as in the ones around whom the plot is written) in general, not just Star Wars. In truth Star Wars only has 4 iconic characters, being Luke, Vader, R2 and C-3PO (gasp, I said it!). Otherwise you are quite correct. Near as can be told, pretty much everyone who is anyone in Star Wars bites it to a blaster of some sort. Which is all the more reason to give Luke one, because it's uncommonness makes it more memorable than, say, having him fly and SSD into a planet to destroy the last Sith holdout.

Wedge Antilles will kill him.

His reason?

Wedge Antilles doesn't need a reason.

In shameless combination of two threads--

Luke will be strangled...by the Force Ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi's beard!

Wedge never gets enough credit. Even in the X-Wing books, Horn took over.

Re: The End?

Honestly, I think that with Luke being such an Iconic character, as with Yoda, for that matter, that he would pass in a similar manner to Yoda. Just of old age and strain and stress on his body. Seems likely enough to me that that would be the final resolution to the life of Luke Skywalker.

Post Mon Nov 28, 2011 10:26 pm

Re: The End?

Yeah. It'll be nice too. I can imagine his body just vanishing like Yoda too. After the big galactic threat goes away, leaving Ben specifically to continue the legacy. And in the very next book, Ben screws up. Obviously.

And on a side-note: Wedge is the supreme minor character. Everyone loves him when he is around, but forgets him when he's not.

on the side note. I was happy when i started reading X-wing, i thought Wedge would finally get credit for how awesome he is. Then Horn stole the show

Re: The End?

Luke will never die unless it is of old age. The writers of the novels already tried to kill off Luke, Leia, or Han in the Yuuzhan Vong series, and George Lucas went Sithspit, so they were forced to go with the next best thing: Chewie.

Re: The End?

Luke dies naturally. No way out of that.
Ben however is a different case. We all know he has a kid but does he end up getting with Vestara or does she try killing him. Kinda like a father/son trait. Marry the person trying to kill you.

Re: The End?

The Force ghost thing is very interesting. I have noticed that the only characters that get one that is more than a single image are those that Die violently. (Yoda was just seen he never talked or did anything). Qui-Gon violent death, Obi-Wan violent death, Aniken violent death. I don't know cause the ghost thing is never explained, but i think you have to die in battle to get a ghost.
