Re: Disney buying Lucasfilm, making Episode 7?

Somebody bought something?

Seriously, it doesn't really matter. At this point, the name 'Star Wars' conjures up a whole set of parameters, seperate from Star Trek, Battlestar, Firefly, Alien etc... it is a cultural phenomenon, and we are part of it, on however small a scale this site is.

Star Wars is bigger than Lucas, has been for many years. I think it'll be good to give the series new life by infusing it with new blood. The series demands to be treated with respect, so I'm not overly concerned that Disney will do it a great deal of harm.

At the very least (and I'm sure this has been said before in this thread) there's little chance Disney could do any worse than Lucas did with Epi 1-3...

I was originally thinking it be best they just do a trilogy that takes place after the "Fate of the Jedi" book series, but thinking on it, I'm open to them doing a Thrawn trilogy film series. But only one condition. To have play as Joruus C'baoth. I want to see him Force Screaming while being played by an actor so well known for his loudness that it can potentially cause the entire audience to become DEAF!

You can simulate the success/failure of the movie based on writer, director, star, etc, here: http://bit.ly/VdFCFq

George Lucas written/directed/starring loses over $200 Mil.

Vong war FTW! That'd be the best one, especially if they could get Ford, Hamil and Fisher. Though the Thrawn trilogy would be pretty epic I agree.

I want more Epic Sci fi then action in the new star wars. Maybe 20 % action and alot of epic sci fi, because 100% Action is what ruined star wars, Lucas thought we needed mass wars like the clones vs the droids when all we needed is a group of mis fortunate heroes just trying to save the galaxy.

What do you mean by "Sci Fi"? Plot and story line? If so then agreed. Though some epic saber scenes would be nice.

I just hope its not too childish, which it probably will be. Disney will probably target the younger audience.

That's what i've been worrying about, Unless they get a writer or director of 'Old school' abilities to pull it off. What I'm think is, if they are smart, they'll make a sequel worthy enough to the originals that they will win back the original fans they lost in the prequel films. And what i meant by sci fi is, dropping the science they added in the prequels and adding more fiction, to back up what i mean, for example; Explaining the science of the force in the prequels and destroying the mystery and wonder of the originals if you know what i mean, I don't explain things well! ;D

If this comes out as true, I'm already looking forward to the film.
