Re: Open Orbit

*With but a simple mental command before entering the hangar, Deimos alerts the fleet of the Iridonian Empire hiding behind the moon to surround the planet. The fleet outnumbers the DJO 9 to 1. Admiral Yerrick Thames, a weathered Zabrak, alerts the DJO fleet that they are under orders to help protect the DJO under the command of the Emperor Deimos.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Baldur's black Sith Infiltrator, a heavily modified and expensive vessel, had originally belonged to his father and was left on Dxun some years back. With a bit of repair, the craft was as sleek, silent and deadly as it had been in it's prime. Upon entering the system, Baldur had disengaged the stealth component of the vessel and dropped all cloaking measures. His silver tongue and a few stolen codes had allowed him to bypass the fleet but this time around, Baldur did not trust himself enough to not get the group killed. Words had the potential to end lives in the same manner as guns, easily done, especially in this universe.*

*He rises from one of the piloting seats, the dried blood cracking upon his flesh. He ties his hair back in a loose warrior's knot, revealing the tattoos that run the length of both sides of his neck. His face remained cold and brooding, as if he had never known a smile in his entire life. He reaches the control panel and activates the stygium cloaking device that will safely shroud them from the prying eyes of the Dark Jedi Order.*

*He returns to his seat and looks over to Elyia, who's face was in like fashion to his own. This was a day of death, of failures and regrets but also of new beginnings. The Emperor would not forget what they had done here on this day, he would repay their valor with power.*

"I will need you soon, Elyia. I am going to plot the course and hang close to the wreckage, it will help cover our tracks. I need you and Sephious to man the guns. Should we come too close to a destroyed ship, blast it. If we are followed, Kill."

*His emerald eyes leave her and go back to the computer as the ship begins to slip through the armada and the fire of destroyed fleets.*

Re: Open Orbit

*After the drama of the hanger, Elyia was well glad for them to be on their way. Now it seemed only the newly arrived fleets of the Iridonian Empire stood in their way. Just another little challenge to be overcome, one they were more than capable of handling. When Baldur looks across at her, she reads well his impessions for they matched her own, and when he asks her to man the guns he receives a simple nod in response. Not a time to stand on ceremony. Rising from her seat, she stretches only a moment before retreating back towards the dorsal turret to man her station. A bit of good piloting and then they would be on their way to Korriban, with nothing to stop them this time....*

*With the aide of Elyia and Sephious and the stygium cloaking device, the vessel was piloted safely by Baldur through the wreckage and ruin that now characterized the space over Muunilinst.*

*The Infiltrator hypers out of the system silently*

Re: Open Orbit

*If he were a simple man, one not worldly of the universe and the way it worked, he would have thought he had just watched the planet's end take place before his eyes. The higher the ship climbed, the closer he got to the debris. Searing hot metal tearing scars in the sky, duracrete dust rising upon impact, and the clouds choking out the sun. Still more and more plummeted to destroy the great city, and the Dark Jedi Order showed no concern.*

*He could feel the pain of thousands as life was extinguished, and passing through the great dust clouds was like swimming through the river styx. So many souls left suspended, trying to push their way into the afterlife all at once, and being caught unattended. He could feel their eyes rake across his skin, a man who could see them passing by, one that could hear them. They screamed. Loud. They begged for help he would not give them. For an end to pain that he was soaking in and relishing. Their suffering and torment showed him the ways of Plaga's power. This type of warfare was excellent in theory and in method, but it most certainly took a madman to pull all the strings necessary. Not to take away from the genius brutality of it all.*

*Hevn takes a look at the planet once more, plumes of smoke curling around the atmosphere, and bright explosions still peppering Mariunhus hours after his departure. With the punch of a few buttons, the ship heaved into a strip of white light, and disappeared into hyperspace.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Admiral Hunt watches the wreckage of dozens of mighty warships rain down upon the island of Mariunhus, and with it he sees all dreams of hope for the Dark Jedi Order burn, shattered into as many pieces as the flaming wreckage that now proliferates the skies. Not only was his master dead, but all the great leaders who he had respected; great leaders whom he had fought with and served. And now word reached him that Admirals Kil'ra and Cage were dead also; two titans of naval battle who, with Hunt, and reigned over the forces of the Order and helped forge them into one of the most potent militaries in the galaxy. He had hoped to preserve Reign's legacy by continuing to serve here, but now he saw the folly of his ways. With all the others gone, he was about the only thing keeping it alive. But he was too old and cynical now to try keeping alive something even his master had given up on.

Seated in his command chair aboard the bridge of the 'Praetor', Hunts orders an encrypted channel opened between all ships of the Praetorian Battlegroup, as well as the Defence Platform "Vidar" and those ground stations known to be totally loyal to him.*

:: Attention all loyal sons and daughters of the Praetorian Heritage. You have one hour to make it aboard a fleet vessel, or you sever ties with us forever. Your time starts now ::

*The hour passes quickly, with hundreds boarding from all over the planet. Many are Epicanthix or Togorian, but others hail from Agamar or Thyferra; all those who hold the Praetorian bond and the House of Reign dear to them. And as the hour ends, the fleet sits in orbit above Mariunhus, still giving no outward intention as to the activity or purpose. All still appeared as it had hours before. And yet much had happened, and more besides was coming. Hunt opens a closed channel, encrypted so only Battelgroup ships could hear it*

:: Praetorians, the Dark Jedi Order is dead, and the time has come for us to sever all ties with this planet, and return from whence we came. But first, I believe our late lord would require we suitably mark his grave. So, in tribute to the Sage, be prepared to fire on the Villa Obscurum on my mark. But first, you shall be receiving hyperspace coordinates presently. Plot your courses and prepare your shields; when we leave, we shall be leaving quickly ::

*After giving them all a few minutes, Hunt continues*

:: Praetor, Ares, target Villa Obscurum. Achilles, target PTL Installation One. Hector, target PTL Installation Two. Broadsides, be prepared to fire full diamond-boron missile barrage to cover our retreat if necessary. All ships, on my command............FIRE! ::

*As dozens of heavy turbolaser beams blossom from the two Pellaeon-class Star Destroyers and arch down untowards the Villa far far below, more arc out from the Victory II-class Star Destroyers to target the W-165 Planetary Turbolaser Installations on Mariunhus and on the mainland. After a good sixty seconds of all-out fire, the turbolasers cut off and all the ships begin to move towards a hyperspace vector, well in advance of possible contact by any ships that were not already close by in orbit. Meanwhile down below, the streets would be running red with molten duracrete and the screams of the innocent would echo through the force forever*

Re: Open Orbit

*Feet propped up on the control board, John was flipping idly through one of his journals, circa 134 BBY, when the alarm that was tied to the hyperdrive, the one that meant an imminent return to realspace, chimed diligently. At least until John hit the mute switch.* *Can't they ever make those things play a nice soothing melody or something? Nope. It's always gotta be the most annoying sound they can think of.* *Dropping his feet off the control board, he leaned forward and grabbed the flight yoke as the star lines reappeared and solidified back into the pinpricks of light they were meant to be. He was about to yell that they'd arrived when Rutil came striding into the cockpit like he owned the place and immediately sat down in the sensor operator station and hit record.*

"Whoawhoawhoa... What do you think you're doing? You paid for a ride, Info's extra."

Re: Open Orbit

*Rutil merely grunted and nodded in acknowledgment. Since the warning alarm had started chiming, he had been focusing entirely on cloaking himself in the Force; a technique he was not overly familiar with, and a technique he could not afford to botch just now. While the military presence over Muunilinst was much more diminished than Rutil had anticipated, he had to assume that there was at least one Dark Jedi rodder on at least one of those ships, just waiting for him to screw it up. And if that happened at the wrong moment, the odds of them being able to jump out of the system again weren't necessarily going to be good.

Even less so if John forced Rutil to play the Jedi card.*

*Rutil spoke, keeping his focus on the task at hand, his voice sounding almost automated (he had, in fact, known full well that John wouldn't take too kindly to this intrusion).*

"John, you'll get your extra. This is about the galaxy at large. And if I'm going to do my part in saving it, it starts here with the small fry."

Re: Open Orbit

*That was funny. Honestly, genuinely, funny. I even chuckled.* "Iorek, I've tried saving the galaxy more than once, even succeeded by most people's reckoning, but ya know what? It never stays saved. A year or ten after everyone declares you a hero another evil empire or all-powerful dictator shows up and you have to do it all over again. So the way I figure it, if the galaxy wants to be saved, it'll have to pay up just like everyone else." *Turning back to the controls, John coerced more speed out of the engines and began the trek toward the planet.* "Where do you want me to drop you?"

Re: Open Orbit

"Harnaidan."

*Rutil's eyes did not once remove themselves from the sensor screen, taking note of every new ship that appeared on the scope. Keeping his mind on the Cloak, Rutil didn't look up to see exactly what the ships were; between the power readings, his own experience, and what the sensor array computer itself was telling him, he could get a pretty accurate estimate of exactly what a potential invasion fleet might be coming up against.

It was tricky; Rutil wanted to get to the surface every bit as much as John did, but coming up short on the recon mission could spell disaster for the poor souls that came in. And as far as Rutil was concerned, the blood spilled would be as much on his hands as it would be on the defenders.*

"We're almost ready."

Re: Open Orbit

"Ready for what?" *Surprise surprise, Rutil didn't tell me everything.* "Is there something else I should know before the swarms of fighters descend to blow us to pieces?" *I could tell that he was concentrating, and no sensor station in the galaxy required that much concentration to read, which left the fact that he was a jedi, and what is it that jedi concentrate on? That's right, the force. Which probably meant he was either putting out a lot of energy in orbit around a dark-side aligned planet, or he was doing the opposite and trying to hide. I sincerely hoped it was the latter.*

Re: Open Orbit

"Just need to get an idea of who's here."

*Just as Rutil finished speaking, the sensor was silent for a moment. It told the scarred man all he had to know; there was nothing else to report in the skies above Muunilinst. Now they could move to the main city below them and suss out the ground troops there.*

"Take us down."

*The Zabrak took a sharp breath. Once they were in Harnaidan, he could let the cloak fall. There were far too many people in the capital for any lone dark-sider to pick up any meaningful sense of someone like himself.*

Re: Open Orbit

"Sure thing." *Truth was though, I'd been taking us down since we came out of hyperspace and any faster would arouse suspicion, so I kept on at a nice easy pace and transmitted ID codes and a landing request like all the good little ships.* *Five minutes later, the ship broke atmo above Harnaidan and headed for the main starport.*

Re: Open Orbit

*A trio of Broadside-class Cruisers in a wedge formation weave an eccentric orbit around Muunilinst, ever vigilant against threats. Though much smaller than many of the large capital ships, each of these cruisers was equipped with diamond boron missiles, and therefore possessed a debilitating first strike capability. It was this that provided the first line of defence against any potential enemy aggressors. A far cry from the vast armada that had once made Muunilinst one of the most heavily defended planets in recent galactic history, it nevertheless served as a deterrent for all but the most serious of aggressors. But luckily, galactic politics seemed to have forgotten Muunilinst entirely, and the now indepedant government was perfectly happy to maintain that status quo*

Re: Open Orbit

*Bust. Piece of the puzzle.*

*After taking her ship, a S40K Phoenix Hawk-class light pinnace, away from High Port, Madieke brings it onto a course that will take it away from Muunilinst's gravity well so that she can make the jump to hyperspace and begin the journey to Coruscant. Her journey to Muunilinst had been, save for learning that her client has no assets on the world and was not likely to have had any associates of any kind there either, a bust in so far as her investigation for Kallas was concerned, the only bright note that she can safely assume that she has the answer for the single question Vyridian had hired her to answer.*

*Hoping that her journey to Coruscant will bear more fruit than that to Muunilinst had, Madieke leans forward to pull the lever that will take her ship from realspace and into hyperspace, unable to shake the feeling that there is a large piece of the puzzle that she has been tasked with solving that she will not, unless she can get a lead on Pajari's whereabouts, ever be able to find and that the puzzle will, therefore, necessarily remain incomplete.* *That Kallas's life was intimately entwined with the Umbaran's is an inescapable conclusion of all that she has learned thusfar, making Pajari's apparent disappearance all the more inexplicable and, for Madieke, frustrating. There is a small possibility that someone from the couple's past might be able to shed some light on matters, and it is that possibility that Madieke clings to as she watches the stars stretch out and elongate before giving way to the whirling blue hyperspace tunnel her ship enters as it leaves Muunilinst behind.*
