Okay... been doing some thinking, based on the big GC discussion from a coupla nights ago. (apologies that not all were involved... but for this crew, it was as close to full participation as is ever possible.)
The main thrust of the conversation stemmed from Lor and myself: I have been feeling increasingly guilty about the fact that we turned tail and left Wade, after escaping Coruscant. True, there were those who saw him taken. There were those who thought him dead and gone. Point is, Fel doesn't believe it. Not because the Force is telling me so, or due to any scientific method of calculating the odds. No, for Galdaart, it's a combination of playing a hunch, the duty and bond of brotherhood (carried over from his time in the Imperial Navy) that won't allow him to leave a downed man behind, and simple stubbornness that refuses to believe Wade is dead until he sees it with his own eyes (and might have something to do with Dazac.)
So, the thing is, I didn't listen to Galdaart's needs as a PC. I ignored what Fel would obviously do (go after Wade) in the interest of new players, and a new SL. (namely, Dante, Seros, and Daniel, and the 'artifact' SL which I think was the brain-child of both Daniel and Dante... and the peripheral PC's that have come on as the plot unfolds: Sky, Faith and the Noghri, Kaali, Oz.) I was especially conscious of handing over the SL reins because in the past, 90% of what our crew has done has been of my design (Ord Mantell, our first trip to the 'Run, anything to do with Kaarn or Darkwell, Malora's kidnapping, the fight with Rend, the trip to Kessel... it goes on.) I started to feel (maybe wrongly?) that some were tiring of my steering the plots of our adventure. So I ignored the obvious course.
But the thought that was at the back of my mind, like an itch I couldn't scratch, was independently echoed by Lor. That woke me to the reality that we should never have left Wade. I NEVER ignore Fel's goals. Because 99% of the time, what he wants serves the crew and the SL. So, I'm having a change of heart and mind.
I'm going after Wade.
Now, at this point, (and heck, even as soon as we were in Coruscant orbit) I have no idea where to look for him. But Galen does. So in essence, we're going after Galen, to go after Wade. I'm not going to plan it all out, because that's not my style.
Suffice it to say that: we will finish repairs. We will finish what's going on on Skip One, and Kaali will have a chance to find Seros (either following the Bronze Star when she lifts off, or accompanying Liya back to the Independence, or another option I haven't thought of or am not privy to.)
We will shed dead weight. Sam & Myranda and the Millenium Eagle will (as long as it's approved by Oz) stay behind with the Independence. I cannot take the time, nor should my crew, of writing for, and including PC's who are inactive. It isn't fair. So though I don't want them gone permanently, I only want them around if the PC's themselves are actively writing. So for now, I'd prefer they stay behind.
Now. As for the 'artifact' SL. Let me be clear. I was, and continue to be quite happy to write as I have been writing. With Dante and Daniel driving the plot forward ('cause it isn't my plot!) I have more time for self-reflective posts, and posts about Wrench, which all-too-often I can't do, because I'm moving us forward. i know this might change things with some who are writing with us just for the sake of this SL. I don't want that, but I also can't dictate that you stay while we gallivant off to rescue a man who may or may not already be dead.
Does this mean I'm breaking my deal with Dante? I guess it depends on perspective. In Fel's eyes, it's just a delay. He has every intention of making good his promise of tracking down that artifact. I would be HAPPY to have you all remain aboard. But that is your decision. The reality is, this crew doesn't do anything in half measures. Going off to get Wade back likely means three months IRL away from the 'artifact' plot. Because there are lots of us, and it takes time to allow for everyone to post.
I don't have all the answers. Liya has a side plot lined up. Dante might seek retribution for Fel breaking his word. There are a thousand possibilities I haven't thought of.
All I can tell you is what I'm gonna do.
Weigh in, folks.
