*The Ulf's captain nods curtly, turning to the medical teams and issuing the order to begin escorting their recovered comrades aboard the Acclamator.* *The identities of each POW are ascertained as they are brought aboard and checked against the list of the crews that had been captured, primarily to get a headcount to ensure all have been released and are accounted for and to begin notifying their families that they have been released and are on their way home, but also to ensure the House of Khar has not planted any human agents among the POWs.
As the medical teams, having planned the most effecient and expedient way to hasten the boarding of the POWs ahead of time, divide into their preassigned groups and move to organize the POWs and begin moving them aboard the Acclamator, checking them for any that might be in need of treatment, verifying their names, and making records of the changes such as marriages and births that have taken place so that GCCS records can be updated, the Ulf's captain turns back to General Xerabux and says simply,* "Thank you General. *The words are chosen carefully, and could mean either that the Captain is thanking the Vor for the treatment of the POWs, and he is grateful that the men and women do not appear to have been treated as harshly as anticipated, or that he is only thanking the general for his time. Civility is warranted, the captain thinks, the courtesy of one soldier for another, but any more would be hypocritical as he and the Vor are likely to be at war in the near future and, though the captain is aware of the fact nearly all soldiers believe they are serving a just cause or leader, both are on opposite sides of the line dividing, in his mind, right and wrong. The GCCS did not provoke the storm on the horizon, and while the general did not either, he serves those who have.* We will lift off as soon as boarding is complete."
*Nodding, the captain turns and heads back up the boarding ramp to be among those that are greeting the POWs as they are taken to their quarters.* *They will, the Captain thinks to himself, hold the celebrating for when Vortex is far, far behind them.*
