*Leaving the command center, he ordered 4 troopers to load some armor crates into the ship, and to come with him. In the shuttle over, General Bloodhound explained the situation to his generals that would be present. He sent a message to his other generals, who were spreading the word to all forces around the city, those near by and those at the far edge. Commanders informed their troops of what the General was doing, and word spread to every soldier. It was a long 5 minute long shuttle ride, as he thought about what the lose of 2 sets of armor would be. As a final thought he put some of his combat gear into the two armor crates. But not his swords or knives. He wouldn't hand those over for anything.
Word had spread to what the General was planning to do, and it was met with differing opinions. But the trandoshans didn't say anything about it, their training kept their mouths shut and they did as they were told. The basilisk pilots were also informed, as were the pilots on the mecha-war hawks. So they kept coming back.
As the shuttle landed, Bloodhound took his time. The clone of Hingang got up, and stretched. Checking all his gear, he slowly walked out side. There was a large crowd outside. In the building they were in front of, a company of standard soldiers were there, standing in front of the windows on various levels. 90 of them were there in the building's multiple stories: flamethrowers, machinegunners, standard soldiers, rocketeers, etc, all looking on at the surrender about to take place. The 10 snipers were on the roof, as per the orders from earlier. Even a pair of Mecha-war Berserkers were standing by, and someone use to them would note the head slightly tilted down. Getting out, the captain of the company was standing apart, helmet off, looking at him with piercing eyes. All the General did was nod. Looking around he saw his 25 generals standing around in different areas of the LZ. Another nod to them was all they needed: he was actually going to go through with this. Several dropped their heads, but the rest just stayed still. 4 trandoshans came out of the shuttle as well, split into pairs carrying 2 armor crates. As they they did General Bloodhound spoke.*
*As he spoke, the 4 trandoshans stopped just in front of the delegation. They set them down, and opened up the lid. It swung open and stopped at the straps, top of the lid now facing the delegation. The trandoshans reached down to lift out the armor -*
*And instead pulled out 3 smoke grenades, 3 concussion grenades and 2 cyroban grenades, part of the combat gear every general is issued. there was a different type of grenade in every trandoshan's hand. They threw the primed grenades at the delegation.
While this was happening, 15 of the 25 other generals as one raised their hands and in under a second, Force pulled Merling away from the delegation with all their might, a strong united attack that would toss Merling like a ragdoll towards a group of 5 other generals that would hide him from the SV50. Those general in questions were prepared to capture him, some with stunbatons ready, others with disrupter pistols and knives to take him hostage. The last 5 generals, who were to the right and under the building with the company in it, began using Force choke on the imperial knights, 1 each except the 4th who got 2.
The company captain barked a command, and suddenly 90 soldiers were firing at the delegation, blowing out the windows. Flamethrowers, electrical troopers and standards were firing the MMWR's, while snipers took aim and fired at them from the roof. The machinegunners fired at them as well, but the rocketeers, 10 in total, aimed at the rocket at the Lambda class shuttle and fired at it, intent on destroying their escape. The berserker light mechs, who has appeared to be down cast, were just making sure they were correct with with their targeting, opening fire on the guards with 2 E-web blastercannons a piece.
This surprise attack was not an isolated incident. The mecha-war hawks, about 180 remaining, had been on their way back from the battle outside the city. The only reason Bloodhound had taken so long was to allow them as well as the basilisks to returnand pick targets. They had come straight back, above the level of the three capital ships but with the command turned on the shuttles above the SV50, and split in to wings, targeting the shuttles and transports. A large missile volley followed by lasers, and suddenly a beehive was let loose on them. The basilisks went straight for the ship, to land on it itself and attack the weapon installations. They came in lower, and in between the ships, which would mean the chiss ships coming to their aid would hit SV50 if they missed. And with the large number, as well as the juking and maneuvers the basilisks were doing, it would be much harder to hit them.
The time delay had allowed the ground forces to ready themselves as well. While they had stayed still, not drawing any attention to them, they were instead picking targets on the SV50. The artillery units were also locking on targets as well. And when the order had gone out to all forces, they opened fire on the ship.
20 heavy turbolasers from the Demons, 400 mass driver rounds (8 each) and 100 missiles from the monsters, 150 ion cannons from the behemoths, 300 artillery blasts from the destructors, and a jaw dropping 10,000 cruise missiles from the MMP's. This all targeted at the SV50, it was a surprise attack of epic proportion. It was a massive display of fire power, but even with that there would be massive casualties. Bloodhound's only hope was that forcing Merling to call off the ships would grant him time to get a proper truce going, or allow for reinforcements.*
