*Her scream pierced the cold silence, alerting him to her position as he had been searching for her. Turning just in time, the Whiphid saw....something.... a dark, foreboding, monstrous shape beneath the already-black waters. By the movement and pure darkness of the object alone, it was abundantly clear this was not good news for the woman whom it had in its sights. As her head swiftly disappeared beneath the cold rippling lake, followed by flailing, scrambling arms, Norun watched the beast shrink as it dove with its captive.
At first he was dumbstruck, but with the shock settling in a heartbeat, he knew his ordeal had just become far worse than could have been anticipated. Fighting the Sith woman was one thing, but contending with both her, and the devilish creatures that apparently inhabited this desolate place, was something even the most focussed and strong of Master Jedi might struggle with. Regardless, his first priority was to the safety of the woman, not for the Sith who had taken the vessel of course, though redemption would be sought for even her; but for the sake of the soul she had robbed of its body. That poor woman who had been cast asunder in favour of the wilful Sith, whose body now slowly gurgled for air, to be drowned and consumed by some unsavoury monster.
That was no end for anyone, and Norun needed to act fast in order to help. Switching off his lightsaber and dropping it where he stood, it would serve no purpose for him when wet, he dropped his robe too to shed some drag, and promptly dove into the water, swimming somewhat blindly down towards the dwindling pair of forms, slowly but surely catching up to them. Meeting the eyes of the Sith, eyes full of fear and confusion, he reached out his hand towards her, hoping to drag her free of captivity, or at the least to grant him respite in being dragged with the beast, rather than having to exert energy to keeping pace.
Hauling himself with a strong tug on her arm, not so much concerned for the pressure such a move would put on her lithe limb and comparatively small shoulder, he managed to get grip on a flapping tentacle. The monster clearly knew it had been caught, and took evasive manoeuvres, changing rapidly from a dive, to a surfacing at speed, trying desperately to shake its pursuer. It wasn't going to happen easily though as the vice-like grip of the strong Whiphid clamped on the creature, nails digging-into slimy, scaly flesh. His free hand sought for his boot, and the small dagger nestled within, missing it often with the jerking movements he had no control over, before at last his fingers found what he looked for, and pulled the weapon free of its housing.
Whilst his lungs screamed and burned, the pressure slowly building and the urge to open his mouth and breathe increasingly irresistible, the Whiphid sought for the tentacle that gripped the woman amongst the mass of flailing palpi. He found it, and promptly jammed the blade into it just below where it coiled around the Sith's leg. Without caring for accuracy, and unable to be so precise given the turbulent jostling from the beast, Norun carved forcefully, randomly, hacking away at the thick tendril to free it from the core body, and release the prisoner.*
