Re: Open Terrain

*Admittedly, the City's small defense force was taken by surprise when the attack began.* *Mon Calamarians and Quarren took to the streets, running in panic as the ground shook beneath their feet. Local authorities did their best to manage the distressed by taking to the streets, directing traffic, and broadcasting over the city's PA system.*

*Heurkea City's PA System*
:: Attention citizens, the city is under attack. Please head to the nearest shelter and wait for further instructions. This is not a drill. Remain calm and please move in a quick but orderly manner. ::

*A transmission was sent to the Ministry of Justice in Coral City, though it would take some time before assistance could be rendered from the capital. In the meanwhile, the security force stationed aboard the floating city began to receive orders from their superiors. Mon Calamari and Quarrens dressed in GCCS aquatic trooper garb scrambled for the few available to the local precinct. In total that numbered three, which meant that the attacking force currently outnumbered them.* *However, the Mon Calamari submersibles were bigger, faster, and carrying torpedoes with a heavier ordnance load.* *All three blasted away from the city, speeding towards the Manta's.*

*Standing at the edge of the docks from which the subs had just departed, GCCS Commander Dackbar Fishface waited, staring at the water below with two large alien eyes. Like most of the city's inhabitants he was a Mon Calamarian. Unlike the panicked rabble however, he was calm. Anger creased his brow as he stared into the deep blue depths, uncertain who was attacking and why. In the background, emergency services could be heard zipping across the city. The alien turned, resting a harpoon gun over his right shoulder.* *Whoever had attacked knew how to hurt them severely. If the city sunk then there was a good chance that the non-native population might drown. Dackbar wouldn't allow that to happen. Regardless of the attacking force's identity, he would find a way to stop them.*

*What other choice was there?*

Re: Open Terrain

*He ordered. In the next few seconds the computer beeped as it locked onto the key areas of the docks that would causes the most damage.*

*The droid pressed the button to fire and the ship shook as 2 torpedoes flew out of the amphibious fighter and screamed towards a fuel station at the dock. The fighter then keep flying onwards and unleashed a rain of laser fire from the four cannons on the city below just firing randomly to cause chaos and damage.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The city shook again as the torpedoes hit, blasting holes in the underside and causing great spouts of water to rise from the water below. Safety measures in place helped keep Heurkea buoyant, though it did dip a few feet deeper below the surface. Most of Quarrens and Mon Calamari in the city seemed unworried about this latest occurrence, though the non-native humans and other various species quickly gave into fear. Many took to breaking into apartment buildings or business sky scrapers, bowling over door men as they fought their way up the stairs, hoping to get as much distance between themselves and the water that was now pouring over the busy streets below.*

*As for the city's three submersibles, they took the Mantas bate. They sped after the droid starfighters in an attempt to chase down their quarry.* *The droid fighters seemed to be fleeing, which was interpreted as a good sign for the defenders. Not one of them considered the possibility that they were being led astray.* *None of the Mon Calamarian's fired their torpedoes yet, instead hoping to chase the droids off further before deploying their ordnance, thus lessening the risk to the already vexed city.*

================================================================

*Dackbar's eye's widened in shock as he saw the amphibious fighter emerge from the waters depths. His jaw dropped when the ship began to open up with its deadly arsenal, sending a pair of torpedoes into the fuel station off to south side of the docks. It exploded, sending a fiery plume up into the sky and scattering wooden shrapnel all across the seafront. The GCCS Commander was thrown off his feet, skidding across the docks and coming to a halt as he slammed into the side of an overturned landspeeder.* "Ugh!" *Groaned the Mon Calamarian, attempting to draw labored breath through his smoke choked lungs. His hands went to the communicator on his waist, drawing it to his glistening lips and speaking in a ragged gravely tone.*

:: Shoot down that fighter! :: *He growled, only to hear the following in response.*

AB: :: With what, sir? We're not armed for an invasion. The subs were all we had on hand, and they're already dispatched to take on those hostile fighters. ::

*The Calamarian scowled, biting his lip as he considered the officers statement. After a moment he replied.*

:: There has to be something we can use. The precincts got an armory after all. ::

AB: :: The biggest thing we have on hand are a couple of E-Webs. ::

*E-Webs against a fighter-craft? Sithspit.* :: Fine. Get them set up as soon as you can. Maybe we can distract them long enough to buy those civilians some time. ::

AB: :: Aye, sir. :: *Comm ends.*

*Dackbar returned his communicator to his belt and struggled to his feet. Above he could see the amphibious fighter opening up on the city with its laser cannons, blasting chunks of duracrete from the buildings. Below, several armed officers could be seen taking pot shots at the ship with their rifles, but the attempt was rather futile.* *Their weapons would barely scratch the paint on the hostile ship, less than that if it had its shields up.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The five Manta droid subfighters kept speeding away from the city all part of the plan. The longer the local defenses were gone the better.*

================================================================

*The droid said and the programmed orders from earlier took over. The ship made a hard turn and went to the center of the city. The already programmed target was locked onto, the largest street in the city. Two more torpedoes were fired they slammed into the street clearing it of citizens of officers. The ship then set down and momentarily deactivated the shields as the 40 Aqua Droids disembarked. As soon as each one left the ship and went down the ramp they fired at any living thing they could find with each of their retractable laser cannons. (one to each) Once the last droid was off the ship took off again.*

*The ship then heads back to the docks.*

Re: Open Terrain

*Likewise, the Mon Calamari submersibles continued their pursuit. Slowly but surely they were gaining on the Mantas thanks to their superior max speed, though the droids still were in the lead. Among the three subs, now assuming a triangular formation, the lead pilot acquired a target lock on the rear most droid subfighter. He squeezed the firing stud as the targeting computer's incessant beeping reached a crescendo, releasing a single baradium packed torpedo after the ship.* *In open air, an explosion from one of these would create a concussive wave sure to flatten anything within a fifty foot proximity. Beneath the water when pressure was already an issue, well, you can imagine how much more severe the resulting boom might be.* *The torpedo streaked through the water, pushed by propeller engines toward the nearest Manta.*

=============================================================

*In the city it was sheer chaos. Civilians were vaporized as the hostile ship continued to pour down with its laser cannons. The officers that had gathered to pester the ship further suffered as a pair of torpedoes blasted into the street, sending some men tumbling and slaying others where they stood. It only got worse as the droids disembarked from the ship, opening up with their laser cannons. What few officers had been on the scene were quickly gunned down.*

*Then, as things seemed to be at their worst, a faint glimmer of hope appeared in the form of a lance wielding Calamarian in glimmering armour.* *Sven Coralle, retired Mon Calamari Knight and current resident of Heurkea.* *On his left arm he wore a carbon-woven cowell-shield, and in his right hand he gripped a short fat-bodied energy lance. The Calamarian displayed a look of utter contempt as he watched the droids gun down innocent civilians and the officers attempting to keep the peace. He raised his shield as a laser bolt from one of the droids came in, deflecting the shot off the shell, then raising his lance and firing a bolt of lightning from the tip directly at one of the advancing machines.*

*Spread out in the buildings above, the sound of glass shattering could be heard. Setting up in the second and third story windows of several of the structures around the city's center were the officers Dackbar had requested. In total there were six of them, two to an E-web cannon already mounted on a tripod and aimed downwards towards the mass of droids. The three blaster cannons sounded in unison, spraying bolts of crimson at the mechanical monstrosities ravaging their fare city.*

=============================================================

*Commander Dackbar was busy collecting himself when he heard the sound of engines.* *The very same that had flown over a short while ago, blowing up the fuel station as they did so.* *He grimaced, holding his side with his left arm while unslinging his rifle with his right.*

*Whoever the heck was attacking them was coming back his way, which meant he either had a fight on his hands, or they were retreating. Knowing the limitations of the defense force under his command, he had to assume the bad guys weren't finished yet.*

*Limping over to one of the charred remnants of the fuel stations wall, he dropped down into a crouch and hid behind the cover.* "Set down you rodder." *He muttered to himself.* "This old fish ain't finished yet." *He checked his rifle quickly, noting the single harpoon and twenty blaster shots left in its power cell.* *Things could be better.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The Manta were in full on speed away from the city right up to when the torpedo was fired. The good of droids they could be given up for the cause. Instead of trying to flee the droid Mantas all stopped in there tracks and flipped in a 180 turn to fire at the Mon Calamari submersibles. Of course the one that was targeted with the torpedo was destoryed before it could even turn and a ripple went through the sea exploding the other torpedoes as they left their subs. A chain effect soon followed that took all the droid Mantas under and hopefully the Mon Cals as well.*

=============================================================

*The droids started to fall yet remained in there line and kept firing at the civilians. One form lance lighting and many from The E-web cannons. Organization and horror was what they wanted to locals to know. The Sith attackers already knew the droids would be lost at some point so no matter how many were gunned down no matter how many local police arrived they would aim for those who are unarmed first.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The lead Mon Calamari submersible pilot shouted over the communications channel shared between the three subs.* :: Yeehaw! :: *He could hardly contain his elation as he saw the Manta go up, soon followed by the detonation of several torpedoes fired by the droids at the last moment. However, that elation soon turned to dread as he realized the pressure wave was coming right for him and his two wingmen.* :: Stang! Break off. Turn, turn, turn! :: *Both wingmen jerked hard on their control yokes, sending them off in either direction, riding the edge of the pressure wave as it expanded. Warning klaxons sounded in response to structural damage, but the solid Calamarian construction held true. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the lead submersible pilot.*

*Skid Lunafish closed his eyes as his ship zoomed straight into the pressure wave. The reinforced transparasteel viewport cracked, while the hull collapsed in on itself. He barely had time to let out a curse before the screen blasted inwards and filled the compartment with water.* *Drowning wasn't exactly a concern for a Calamarian, but that didn't mean he was out of trouble.* *As the hull crunched inwards, the ordnance bay pressed down hard on the remaining torpedoes, cracking the tubes and setting off one of the torpedoes. Within seconds the submersible exploded outwards.*

*The remaining pilots, Brightwater and Marcell, said a silent prayer for their lost comrade before turning around and heading back towards the city.* *The droid sub-fighters were scrap, but that didn't mean Heurkea was out of hot water yet.*

=============================================================

*More civilians went down in a hail of laser fire from the droids. Sven could only do so much to protect them, even with the support of the three E-Webs. He raised his shield and crouched over a civilian, maintaining a barrier between the citizen and the droids. Meanwhile, a retreating Calamarian civilian looked over his back towards the kill zone that had once been Front Street. Bodies lay everywhere; men, women, children...* "Grrr!" *Looking to the right, the alien spotted a hover-bus that had been abandoned during the attack. He ran towards the door, pounding up the short steps and thrusting himself into the driver's seat.*

*Looking down he spotted the ignition. Fate be kind, the keys were still there. He gave them a turn, activating the repulsor engines and causing the entire bus to rise off the ground. Staring out the front window, he focused his big fish eyes on the droids.* *Time for some payback.* *Snarling, he switched the gear into "drive" and pressed his foot down hard on the accelerator. The hover-bus lumbered forwards, picking up speed as it began to race down the street, directly towards the line of aqua droids. Sven nearly stumbled over when the bus raced passed him and the civilian he was protecting.* "What the deuce?" *He said as he looked up.* "That crazy son of a Quarren."

=============================================================

*Dackbar cursed as another explosion sounded, looking up from cover only long enough to see the lighthouse go up, followed shortly after by someone's private yacht. It was only after the hostile vessel dove beneath the waves that he rose from his hiding spot and stepped out into the open. His communicator beeped in time for him to catch Cegan's message. The Commander's face turned further grim as he listened to what the man had to say.* *Slaves to the Quarren? Not a chance. The Mon Calamari had already been slaves to the Galactic Empire. They'd be damned if they'd ever submit to another dictatorship, let alone one led by what he assumed was a domestic power. It seemed highly plausible that the person(s) responsible for this were of the Quarren species.*

*He didn't respond.* *There was no way they would agree to those terms, but there was no sense provoking the attacker further. Besides, the hostile had given them a day. That was time they would use to prepare for whatever attack came next.* *Instead, Dackbar switched his comlink over to the emergency response channel and began to coordinate the response teams to deal with the numerous fires, wounded, and other resulting damage from the attack.*

Re: Open Terrain

*The droids peered at the bus for a split second before it came crashing into them. The flaw of being united in a line the bus was able to crash into the front of them and go straight through their lines crushing them all. A few even exploded yet it was not more then a dramatic effect really. The fight was over for now.

The citizens of Heurkea Floating City now had a small window to try and restore order and tend there wounds. Meanwhile that rest of the system needed to prepare themselves the threat was a swallow one yet a very really one. This chaos and horror appeared from a simple attack from 5 subs and a shuttle a full on invasion well, less would be hurt and death would take its place. In 21 standard hours another attack would come for it was clear the citizens were no where close to breaking yet, soon they will though oh they will all right.....*

Re: Open Terrain

*In the aftermath of the attack, GCCS Commander Dackbar Fishface saw to coordinating the remaining emergency services. Hover-Ambulances, Fire Protection Units, Police Cruisers...you name it. It seemed everyone had a task to attend to and there was no end of need. The star port was jammed with non-native civilians wanting to depart the city, though few of the Mon Calamarians and Quarrens that made this place home had opted to leave.* *This was their home after all. If the Empire couldn't drive them out, then a small hostile group sure wouldn't.* *Construction firms and personnel from the shipyards were contracted to repair the damage. For now only quick repairs could be made (stop the leaks, plug the holes, etc); however, in the coming days a more dedicated and coordinated effort would be made to completely repair the damage. The two remaining submersibles were brought into the damaged docks and quickly assessed for damage.*

*Everything had to be ship-shape in case of another attack. There was no way to no where the hostiles would strike next, so every city was warned to remain vigilant.*

*A small fleet of submersibles was loaned to Heurkea, adding an additional eight subs to the current two, numbering ten in total. A team of two Calamarians was stationed with each craft for all hours of the day.* *No one wanted to be caught off-guard again.* *Active sonar was used to monitor the watery depths, keeping track of any and all movement up to two kilometers beyond the city limits. Meanwhile rubble was cleared from the streets and pushed into makeshift barricades, blocking off entire streets. Traffic in and around the city was limited for the time being.*

*At the precinct, fifty coalition seatroopers arrived alongside two hundred coalition regulars. It was more troops than Heurkea had seen in some time, but a necessity given the threat they potentially faced. Several small anti-aircraft emplacements were set up across the city: north, south, east, and west. Eight guns in total, each toting enough of a punch to knock heavy starfighters right out of the air.* *It wasn't the best they could manage, but on such short notice, it was rather impressive.* *Dackbar monitored the progress of the city's inhabitants from the precinct near the city's core. One thing in particular caught his eye. A small shield generator was being set up in the downtown core.* *It would take some time to get it operational, probably more time than they could afford, but once it was up it would be able to generate a field that would keep out heavy artillery fire.* *Most of the civilian shelters could be found in this zone.*

Star Destroyer hurtling through the atmosphere

*Seeing the crazy woman enter the living ship, Finnick gave her a halfhearted smile, part of him was glad she was still alive but the other part was saddened that the nut had made it to the ship. Still if she was here it meant that her part was over and that they would soon be crashing into the planet; with this he gripped the tentacle tighter.*

Glad you can make it, grab a tentacle and make sure its one with teeth the others will just hold you in place, the teeth may give you some sort of sick pleasure. *His tone was full of mixed emotions sarcasam and a little hopeful she did it. Perhaps the free fall they were now experiencing was getting to his head.*

[action:1kp9we8b]Despite her stress and the uncertainty of their futures and her own doubts and misgivings about the mission that has added all those things to her plate Faina cannot help but smile and shake her head as, true to form, Finnick greets their impish, slightly disturbing companion for the mission. Even though the diminutive, demonic woman having left the bridge almost certainly means that the fate of the Star Destroyer the living ship that she and her companions for the mission as in is in has been essentially determined, Faina cannot keep from, while gripping the tentacles she has been clinging to so tightly her knuckles are white, asking a tad too rapidly and loudly,[/action:1kp9we8b] "Have we made it into the the upper atmosphere yet? Any idea how long before we splash down? You think they'll have time to scramble fighters to try and blow us up before we hit the ocean? What about naval defenses? Are we sure we aren't going to be going down near anything that they would be able to detect us leaving the destroyer in this, [action:1kp9we8b]she looks up and then around at the eerie insides of the thing they are inside with a slightly disgusted expression evident even though it is accompanied by the more predominant apprehension,[/action:1kp9we8b] thing? Re: Open Terrain

*Grab a tentacle? No thank you, that would be too normal a pattern. Besides, what if one of them tried to molest her? It would be wrong. Wrong! True to fashion, the wicked little thing smiles at the sight of "grown-ups" grabbing on to dirty strands of intestinal track -clinging to them as their lifeline. Her pale hand stabs upward, and it penetrates deep into the wall, causing a distinct, hair curling wail to emanate from the creature-ship. There wasn't much time to respond to Faina, with her concerns, with all of their petty concern. Couldn't they understand that they truly had the blessing of the unluckiest being in the universe? To all of the she-knight's queries, she only needs to say one thing.*

"Naaahhhh...."

*And then the calamity truly begins. Any normal being would surely be knocked out by the sudden force which ripped at them all, begging to smash them into thousands of happy pieces. On the surface, it was a distinct castrophany: a loud crash and thundering roared across the nearby towns, bounced off into the upper reaches of Dac's atmosphere, lashed out at the clouds, with such fervor, that even the highest trails of thin cloud-ice were smashed in a sonic boom, it tore at the hulls of passing ships, shaking them, and cajoled the rocks and mountains beneath the waves to embrace anarchy, which left them yearning for pulverization. The star destroyer? What star destroyer! It was like the opening of a tin can as layer after layer, deck after deck, pulled open much like the blossoming of any rose. The bridge peeled off as the highly esteemed Vong said, flying much like a small rock thrown on a sling shot. Momentum had its way, and the wreck punched the bottom of the ocean floor, causing fractures that sent supermassive pieces of the once-proud ship bouncing on the pristine plains, gushing unfathomable gouts of dirt, ecosystem, and resources to choke the surrounding ocean. Electricity cascades, and a billion lives, ranging from small algae to any unlucky deep sea diver, are killed instantly in a beautiful, brief, shrieking note.

It was magnificence incarnate. And only now was the resulting tsunami swallowing the nearby fishing and port towns 50 kilometres from the point of impact. They would be wiped out, cleaned and returned back to deep sea trenches, easily as forgotten as they were created, and dragging down the life they held, bringing peace, the deepest slumber, and the freedom from judgement.*

*Faina looks at the disturbingly unperturbed and simply disturbing diminutive sprite as she answers with a simple and bewildering 'naaahhhh', wondering whether the 'naaahhhh' is meant to be a resassuring 'naaahhhh' or intended to convey something else entirely. Before Faina can ponder the possible meanings of the 'naaahhhh' for long, however, she loses her grip on the tentacles she had been clinging to so fiercely when the ship bucks violently and finds herself sailing through the air.

Grasping for another handhold in panic, Faina misses the first one she passes, can't keep hold of the second and then, right before she hits the side of the thing they are traveling in, manages to get hold on another tentacle, winces as her arm is nearly torn from the socket as her brief flight is halted and gropes upward blindly with her other hand to take hold of another tentacle.

Breathing heavily, eyes shut tightly as the cacophony of noise accompanying the demise of the star destroyer they are ensconced within intensifies, Faina feels sweat trickling down the back of her neck and tries to get her panic under control before it can blossom into fear. The noise gradually recedes and then gives way to an eerie silence as Faina gets her breathing back under control and feels her panic releasing its grip, and she opens her eyes after a moment, her expression more surprised than relieved at first as she notes aloud in a somewhat uncertain tone,*
"We made it?"

Ocean Floor

[narration:299mucni]It was a complicated thing, listening to conversations of his companions while operation the living beast and maintaining some semblance of his real self seated within its body. He had been forced to tune out the questions and prattling voices of his associates, their concerns been removed to the rear of his thoughts while his focus remained on the now, getting them through this safely and all limbs intact.[/narration:299mucni]

[action:299mucni]When they had hit the water, everything had seemed to go to hell. The magnetic shielding, designed to allow the movements of ships freely while containing the hangar's atmosphere, did little to stop the rush of water that poured into the bay. It came at an angle, forced through at the edges by their descent towards the dark depths of the sea. It wasn't until the destroyer struck the bottom that the remaining pocket of air was expelled, projected out and away from hangar like a drowning man's last breath. Along with it came the vangaak, kicking and swishing with all tentacle shaped appendages, further propelled by the rush of gas. The dirt kicked up did much to obscure the organic submersible from sight, though it likewise caused confusion for the pilot. Jarulek mentally commanded the beast to send out a series of pings, using echolocation to direct it through the muck.[/action:299mucni]
"We made it?"[/quote:299mucni]
[action:299mucni]Setting the vangaak to tread, Jarulek reached to the hooks in his shoulders and pried the cognition hood free with a wet squelch. He pushed out of his chair and righted himself with a hand on the cockpit wall, still a little jostled by the rough landing.[/action:299mucni] [i:299mucni]"Aye, lass."[/color:299mucni][/i:299mucni] [action:299mucni]He said, swaggering into the back compartment where the others resided.[/action:299mucni] [i:299mucni]"We made it. I had hoped to kick loose of the destroyer before we hit the bottom, but that all happened a little fast. We're lucky we weren't crushed on impact. We have the water to thank for that. Sea-Mare's dora-mu shell is tough, designed to withstand deep water pressure, but even it could crack under the right jarring impact."[/color:299mucni][/i:299mucni] [action:299mucni]Stepping to the wall closest to the port side, he found an artery running the length of the interior membrane and gave it a squeeze.[/action:299mucni]

[action:299mucni]Directly outside the section of the membrane in front of the intendant, the green scales began to peel back, exposing the translucent layer of organic material to the blue depths. It bulged inwards slightly, as though going to burst and drown them all. Jarulek was unconcerned, however, knowing that the vangaak was fully capable of withstanding the pressure at that level. Like a gungan bongo, it could travel through the core of the planet if necessary. He prodded the membrane with a spindly finger, directing everyone's attention to the outside.[/action:299mucni]

[i:299mucni]"At this depth the water would squeeze us to about the size of your lightsaber hilts. We'll need to find an elevated point before we scuba to the surface. By my calculations we're approximately eight leagues from Coral City and nine from Foamwander, that's about forty-five and fifty kilometers from either, so we're going to need to make up our mind about which one we are going to check out first. Either way should take us about an hour. We could move faster if we didn't have to worry about detection, but as I said before, the key to our success here will be stealth. Slow and steady will keep us off the radar. Once we are there we can split into two groups."[/color:299mucni][/i:299mucni]

*Faina finds herself, despite herself, slightly relieved by the Vong's reassurances about their current situation. Wincing as she watches the Vong play with the insides of the thing that they are inside, Faina clenches her fists and tries to tell herself that he knows what he's doing and so probably won't drown them all as she listens to him describe the next steps they will be taking.

The sooner that she is out of the thing they are in and out of the water and back on solid ground, Faina thinks, the better. If nothing else, Faina has learned that she never wants to be trapped inside a ship, or a living creature that is trapped inside a ship, during a battle again if she can help it. Foamwander or Coral City, it makes little difference which she winds up on; so long as her boots are on solid ground she will be as close to happy as one can reasonably be on a mission such as the one that has brought them all here.*
*Of more concern to her is the news that they will be dividing into teams, and so, raising a hand before anyone can chime in before her, Faina says,* "Finnick and I will be the A team, you two can be the B team. *Looking at the Vong and consciously suppressing the revulsion she feels just being in the same vicinity as him, Faina asks,* How much did your sources know, if anything, about who was behind the plot to incite a civil war? Any indication of the size of the group we'll be looking to infiltrate, how they are recruiting, where we might want to start to looking for them? Anything at all?"

*When they broke free from the ship Finnick let exhaled, he had not realised he was holding his breath. Sure it was a violent entry to the planet and a violent exit from the ship but they made it. Releasing the iron like grip on the only things that kept him from turning to a pulp he dropped to the ground light as a cat.* We might as well go to the farthest one unless someone has any objections?

*In his mind he imagined being the size of his hilt, it brought a small to his face a nervous one. He realised for the first time how dangerous this was. It brought a surge of adrenaline to his body, something he had not experience in a few years, and he loved it.* Fiana, as much as I would love to work with my fellow Knight I must disagree with that idea. It will be a good learning experience for you to work with someone you detest. I suggest Juralek as your partner, and Diva as mine.

<< Plus this way we can keep an eye on both of them, and know everything they know from first hand experience. >>

Re: Open Terrain

*Jarulek's mqaaq'it narrowed and his lips pursed together, forcefully quelling the need to snap at Faina.* *Her obvious dislike of his race and incessant need to question everything was beginning to get to him. In turn he wasn't particular fond of the infidel races either, but he was content to make use of them for as long as his duty required it. More so, he believed himself capable of doing so without offering insult. Yet he found himself growing continually annoyed with this particular female. She made him want to grab her by the sides of her skull and dig his thumbs into her eyes until they burst like jelly. Obviously that wouldn't do. He resolved himself to the notion that he could find some way to get her to like him, or at least die in the attempt of doing so.* *He closed his eyes, bowed his head, and pressed his hands together as Finnick continued the conversation. By the time the male knight was done, some of the tension had seeped from the Yuuzhan Vong, replaced not quite by calm, but something certainly less than anger.*

"I agree." *He stated, somewhat surprised that he had done so.* "My skills lay in subterfuge and misdirection. I am ill suited to the potential combat roles we may find ourselves in. While we will be trying to actively avoid committing acts of violence, it is wise to be prepared for such an eventuality should this operation run less than smoothly. Hence the request for the services of you Imperial Knights. We would do well to have one Lightside warrior a pair. Additionally, we gain a tactical advantage by breaking up into gender diverse pairings. I would hate to think myself or Finnick would be forced to enter a public female refresher as a part of our reconnaissance." *He glanced at Faina.* "As for your concerns..."

*He moved to one side of the cabin and pulled down a screen from the ceiling made of some energized fiber. Within the layers of flesh were countless blaze bugs designed to project light and imagery in the same way as an LCD display. A rendering of both cities, Coral and Foamwander, materialized for all to see. Jarulek removed the qahsa device from his hip, stroking it to produce two pronged shaped appendages, then plugged it in to what passed for a organic outlet. The device interfaced with the screen and began to project points on the map.*

"We, or rather, I know who is behind this attempted coup. However, I am not at liberty to divulge that information. Suffice it to say, at its heart this conflict we are entering into is the misguided attempt of a very valuable and well placed asset. It is imperative that their identity remain concealed, for more than this one system's sake. We do know the reason behind the attempt was to destabilize Republic control of Dac and interfere with the system's ability to produce warships for the Republic. Though the yards are in orbit and mainly operated by the Calamari, they are supplied with needed resources by the Quarren. Disrupt one and you disrupt the other. A number of Mandalorian super-commandos were hired to assist in inciting a civil war between these two races. I am uncertain of how many, but there are at least two. It is also likely that they are bolstering their numbers with hired mercenaries." *He let out a sigh and shook his head.* "An easy enough endeavor. There has always been tension between the Quarren and Calamari. All it would take is a single spark for the entire planet to erupt in civil war." *He pointed at the map.* "I would suggest we visit Coral City first. It is home to the established governments of both races. If I was trying to start a civil war, I would go after either sides executive branches and assassinate their leaders. They may be in danger of that as we speak."

[force_speak:2i1jxumq]Plus this way we can keep an eye on both of them, and know everything they know from first hand experience.[/force_speak:2i1jxumq][/quote:2i1jxumq]

[action:2i1jxumq]Tilting her head to the side and rolling her neck to aim her gaze, which is currently annoyed and possessed of a mildly shocked look of disbelief at what she sees as Finnick's absurdly tactless and unnecessarily revealing comment about her personal feelings about the Vong in general, Faina opens her mouth to protest but, figuring that the damage is already done and that trying to slap a verbal band-aid over it will be pointless, clenches her jaw instead and, focusing on her awareness of the Force and then telepathically reaching out to make contact with Finnick, snaps at him telepathically instead of verbally,[/action:2i1jxumq] [force_speak:2i1jxumq]What the frack! Stick me with the fripping Vong after you just blithely announce I hate his kind? Thanks a pant load Finnick. [narration:2i1jxumq]Her eyes narrow and she scrunches her nose as she considers that Finnick has also volunteered himself for being alone with the creepy, quite possibly insane and certainly disturbing little imp, and Faina backpedals, communicating,[/narration:2i1jxumq] You know what? Fine. You have a point. I watch the king of pain and you get to be best pals with she's creepy and she's kooky, she's mysterious and spooky, she's all together ooky. Have fun with that. Just watch your back. She weirds me the frip out.[/force_speak:2i1jxumq]

[action:2i1jxumq]Rubbing her temple, as oblivious to the Vong's annoyance with her questioning every thing as she, apparently, was to just how poorly she was concealing her disgust for him, Faina decides to just let Finnick's annoying admission of her feelings sit for now and simply listens with an impassive expression as Jarulek, disappointingly for Faina, agrees with the team assignments and then goes on to answer her questions.[/action:2i1jxumq] [narration:2i1jxumq]Some of them anyway. Forcing herself not to glance over at Finnick with an I-told-you-so glance when Jarulek reveals that he knows who is behind all the poo that is just waiting to be flung for the proverbial fan and, at the end of the briefing - as incomplete as it sounds as though it is - decides to just nod that she understands and wait and see if the questions she has now that her initial questions have been answered - kind of - will be answered in the course of the mission.[/narration:2i1jxumq]

[action:2i1jxumq]Almost fearing the answer, since she really doesn't want to have to be around any more Vong "tech" than she has already but suspects the scuba gear might just be some weird creature she needs to wear on her head or something, Faina asks,[/action:2i1jxumq] "Where's the scuba gear? [narration:2i1jxumq]Not entirely lying as she is meticulous when it comes to personally checking any gear she will be using before actually relying on it, Faina explains,[/narration:2i1jxumq] I can check it over while we head out."

<< Its no secret that most people in the Universe hold a grudge against them, so I am sure he is used to it by now. Good learning experience for you, to work with someone who doesnt mesh with and hey your right I am taking the harder of the two jobs. >> *Finnick had noticed the lack of visible gear that would be used to get them to the cities. Perhaps it was behind some sort of skin flap that could be removed or maybe they were just going to swim with what they brought. Before mentioning the fact that he has two re-breathers in a pocket of his robe.*

Lets go to Coral city then and try to stop these thugs from starting a civil war on the planet. *His mind was still on the thought of which of the two men present would make a better female, the zombie corpse of a being or the 50 year old man with frizzy red hair. After a few seconds of silence he let the thought slide as it wouldnt come to pass anyways.*
