Re: Academy Main Building

*Well handled, observed Dante, as he maintained his pose. As his opponent leapt through the air, he closed his eyes briefly - allowing the sand to go past him. Usually Dante would have coupled the attack with another attack, such as a flashbang, or simply followed up with a more offensive attack - a technique dubbed "Chaining" by himself. But the purpose of the exercise wasn't to defeat Krios, but to measure him. His ability to either adapt, or to predict the sand was good - he had decent reflexes or intuition. Dante couldn't help but find his opponents use of terrain as clumsy though; making a leap in such a hasty manner could prove fatal if this was a true duel...in all honesty, Dante found that he would have simply rushed his opponent while he was in the air, or simply shot him with his charric. Flight time was highly overrated unless one had absolute control of trajectory and speed...otherwise, it left one rather vulnerable as you weren't able to maneuver or position correctly while in the air.

Despite this, his opponents next move reassured Dante as to his opponents ability to measure his surroundings - as Krios recovered from the sand, he to followed with a sand kick; just as he simultaneously pushed forward to strike at Dante with his walking stick. In all, it was a good attack, yet easily defeated. Dante's race possessed a nictating mimbrane (that is, a third eyelid). In nature, the third eyelid is excessively common in mammals and bird - typically it is a hardy transparent membrane that covers the eye during diving through air (to protect birds of prey from particles during their 60mph plus dives), or even during swimming through water (as the case for mammals, acting as a form of transparent goggle). Dante used his own nictating membranes to his advantage, flicking them closed over his eyes as the sand sprayed towards his face. Harmlessly, the sand spray impacted his face with some of it going into his mouth, his eyes though, suffered only the most minor of irritation as his third eyelids swept back to their natural positions. While it was true it left a completely unwholesome sensation at the corners of the eyes, it served its purpose; while the sand impacted his face, he was able to see clearly and with precision. Albeit, he had to struggle to resist reaching up and wiping the now clumped sand from the corners of his eyes.*

*Powering through the sand, Dante stood stock still as his opponent approached...refusing to go on the offensive in lieu of testing. No...Dante would defend...defend defend and defend. The goal here was to measure. Not to obliterate. As krios struck with his low handed grip (A grip, Dante noticed, which maximized the length of the spear.), his opponent slashed from high right to low left...a diagonal slash which intended to impacts between the neck and shoulder. A sound strike.

As Dante's hand were already at chest height, Dante lashed his right arm to his right in a simple block; the forearm moved so it was at a slight angle, with the entirety of the arm moving in a controlled striking motion to Dante's high right. The result would be the stick slapping against Dante's arm (armored as it was in his gauntlet), with the stick glancing off to Dante's right due to the angle. As he blocked, Dante shifted his stance into a classic stava front stance - his left foot coming forward, his right foot back and turned at a ninety degree angle away from his body, knees bent. The stance was well rounded, and offered stability, while simultaneously putting his left side forward - lowering his profile, while simultaneously maximizing blocking ability.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*Nictating membranes... gold-tinged skin... canines... The pieces began to slide into place as a word forced its way into Krios' conscious mind and the man before him suddenly made a great deal more sense. He was firrerreo, not an Arkanian offshoot or genetically enhanced as Krios had originally assumed. His title, the deceiver, would likely bury a code of morality and honesty that twisted and turned in such a convoluted fashion that it would very nearly be impossible to distinguish from the behavior of a man with no code at all, but only a man with a code would give warning of his treachery. Dante would not be his true name, of course, that was the first lie that his title warned of, but what were the others?*

*As the wooden shaft of the spear struck the arm, it did not glance off but instead snapped at the impact point with a loud crack. That blow should have shattered the bone, or given the presence of armor, powered through the block. This man was far stronger than his species and build suggested. Planting his left (forward) foot, the sakiyan halted his spear swing then stepped his right foot forward, rotating his body nearly one hundred and eighty degrees as he released his left-hand grip on the spear and thrust his right hand, and the splintered end of the spear, toward Dante's chest, aiming for the soft spot just below his sternum. The shaft of the spear still maintained enough length that Krios would be out of arm's reach of Dante while still being able to drive the splintered end six inches into his chest.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*My he WAS strong wasn't he. Slight surprise filled Dante as the walking stick snapped at the point of impact, and immediately Dante began gauging his opponents control over his strength. He handled it well, not giving it away to obviously...he had a style similar to Dante's in some respects - that is, one of whittling down his opponent. Unlike Dante though, he showed tendencies of power attacks - which was fine, if it was his style. By all evidence, he would be more than capable at executing them.*

*As his opponent halted his spear swing, there was a period in which the spear had to be re-aimed for his next strike; simply put, a spear that had been stopped as it were, to Dante's right, had to be repositioned for a strike at Dante's sternum. It was during this period, that Dante brought his right arm back into his fighting stance - while simultaneously shuffling forward and to the left by six inches. As his opponent executed his 180 turn, Dante simply waited for his opponent to strike...

His opponent struck by using a type of spear lunge - holding the spear in his right hand, he switched to a right strong position as he thrust. Altogether a sound tactic, it minimized his opponents profile, while simultaneously generated POWER behind the blow - the torque from the movement would be transferred to the weapon itself. The choice of targets though, was poor. Simply, if one stands with one foot forward, knee slightly bent, and the other foot directly behind them, foot turned away from the body at a right angle, it aligns the shoulders and the chest at an angle away from your opponent (thus the bit about "minimizing" ones profile). Because of this, to strike the sternum, the walking stick would have to spear past Dante's left shoulder and guard, to strike a rather small target that was angled away from his opponent.

In the end, Dante decided to end the charade with the walking stick. As his opponents walking stick sang in towards his sternum, his left arm rotated counter clockwise, to try and capture the walking stick in the crook of his elbow. Simultaneously, as the stick struck forward, his right hand slapped in to try and grasp the spear by the shaft. If his blocks were successful, he would wrench his left arm closed, while simultaneously twisting the stick with his right hand - the result being the stick snapping off halfway between the two opponents, as torque was applied.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*Xeonon walked around the building checking it out, he had seen many buildings in his day but not many that looked this crappy. It was obvious that there was some rebuilding done to it, he could smell it in the air and see it as he saw some of the patches. Last time he was in a building that had this many holes in it, he was nearly blown to kingdom come. Finally rounding the final corner he saw a door, walking in it was not hard for him to see two people in the center fighting or rather sparring. He saw the wood crack, just as he cracked a smile now this was no doubt a good smile.

Leaning up on the frame of the door Xeonon watched through his cybernetic eyes and crossed his armoured arms. He did not want to interrupt such a show as this, usually when he saw a fight well he would be drawn in. Not this time, seeing as both could hold their own.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*The shaft snapped with a loud crack, leaving Dante with three feet of stick and Krios with two. Rather than attack again immediately though, the Sakiyan shifted the stick to his left hand and closed the remaining distance slowly, almost cautiously. Once in range (and assuming Dante's position is relatively the same), he struck with what remained of the stick, swinging it wide to his own left then in toward Dante's chest.*

*The attack held enough power to be lethal if it struck, but that was not its purpose. It was aimed for the man's heart in the left side of the chest, and would be difficult to block effectively with the right arm unless the man shifted his stance to face the sakiyan more squarely. When (if) he did so, Krios' right palm would drive forward toward the sternum, attempting to drive the breath from the man and potentially cracking ribs. If instead he used a left-handed block (thus exposing his left side), Krios would drive his right fist into the man's ribs, likely cracking or outright breaking them with the powerful blow.*

*He was skilled, that much was evident. As his opponent cautiously advanced, switching the stick to his left hand, Dante calculated his options...*

*His opponent was analytical...yet reactionary. He preferred to whittle away, to strike with precision, yet with power.*

*As his opponent advanced, Dante quickly - and with more speed than before, shuffled backward. Quickly, he held up a hand, beckoning his opponent to stop. With an easy life, Dante nodded slowly.*

"Enough! Enough...your good. Good enough to learn. But perhaps we should pause, and greet our guest."

*Dante gestured to Xeonon, standing on the sidelines.*

"Whats your name stranger? And why have you come."

Re: Academy Main Building

*Krios halted just prior to beginning his assault, then nodded in acknowledgement of the compliment (if indeed it was a compliment). Before turning to face the guest, who was a human male in his early thirties judging by the scent, the sakiyan shook the remaining sand free of his face and finally opened his eyes. Turning, he took in the appearance of the newcomer. The man was dressed in the distinctive red armor of the imperial knights, and bore facial scarring that indicated a hard life, yet he had survived in spite of whatever had wounded him so grievously, which indicated a strong will. There was an odd heat signature in his right hand, likely due to a cybernetic limb replacement as they tended to run cooler than the natural body, and he carried a lightsaber clipped to his belt.*

*Why would an imperial knight come to a run down dueling academy in the middle of nowhere on one of the most inaccessible planets in the galaxy, that had yet to officially reopen? And more importantly, what empire did this man serve?*

[quote="Dante the Deceiver":akw9im67]"Whats your name stranger? And why have you come."[/quote:akw9im67]

[narration:akw9im67]Watching the duel, no doubt a practice one judging by the way it ended so abruptly. As Xeonon was being unknowingly studied by Krios he did his own little check over of the two while neither moved. Dante the smaller of the two had a gold tinge to his skin obviously Firrerro, and thus could heal from all but the most grievous of wounds. Unlike him. The other man, dark blue was a species he was not familiar with. However he noted the head as being larger which indicated a larger brain and a high intelligence. Switching the modes of the cybernetic eyes he couldnt really see anything different about them like they would with his arm.[/narration:akw9im67]

The name is Xeonon Solomon, Grandmaster of the Imperial Knights [narration:akw9im67]Holy kriff thats a mouthful.[/narration:akw9im67] Well I was in the system and I recalled hearing about a dueling academy that was on this planet. Figured it would be a good idea to stop by see if there are not some books, scrolls or what have you to help me broaden by horizons. Yourselves?

Re: Academy Main Building

"Dante the Deceiver - headmaster of this academy."

*With a grunt, Dante heaved himself off the platform, and walked towards one of the walls. Shaking his head, he started going through one of the various weapons racks; training equipment was a finicky thing, and not something that was just assigned lightly. Based on Krios's height and body mass (and his desire to dual wield) he would probably be looking at a hand, to a hand and a half weapon - based on Krios's strength, he could PROBABLY deal with the weight of a hand and a half just fine. Taking the training blade, Dante tossed it at Krios; a hand and a half (from now on referenced as a H&H) was in-between a longsword and short-sword as far as length, allowing for powerful leverage to be applied when used with two hands, or for quick cut and thrust action when using one hand. It was a good starting blade, to see where Krios's strengths lay.*

"The blades made out of tempered Duranium, non sharpened edges. An emitter in the hilt runs a very light charge through the blade, allowing it to tell the difference between contact with a blade, or contact with the opponent - this allows for tallying of hits, but otherwise has no effect on practice. Bash away with it - your not going to bend or break it."

*Picking up an identical practice blade, Dante hopped back up onto the platform.*

"Well then, Grandmaster Xeonon, I can honestly say that while we USED to have reading materials and such, the majority of our materials have been destroyed in the last Sith war. Nasty business. I think you can find a computer terminal or two to help instruct you in things, but beyond that..."

*Dante shrugged nonchalantly.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*Those mother kriff Sith always going an kriff up someones perfect plans. Well Dante your the headmaster here, I am a master of my order why dont we get busy and make a bunch of little apprentices tonight. Those were some of the odd thoughts that went through Xeonons mind as he heard that, obviously the man was kriff up. Anyways he nodded.* Thats to bad man, well the building looks a little worse for wear but I dont see why it cant be spruced up. Since it appears the place is not as abandoned as I was lead to believe, and my original goal pretty much not going to happen if it is okay with you headmaster may I stay here and learn under you for a while. *And here came the incentive.*

I own a company, a mining company. It wouldnt be to hard to get some stuff over here to repair the building, make it look all professional if you want to make the place look brand new and open it to the general public. *Walking in he looked at the weapons, some he recognized from back on Aargau in Joshua Silvas old office. Others he seemed to insane to be a proper weapon. He turned around though, no doubt the two men about to square off again.* Wanna have a threesome? *He hoped that they would think a fight, not the other of the options.*

Re: Academy Main Building

*Krios turned to study the newcomer when his scent shifted to one of anger for no reason that was immediately apparent. The only thing that had been mentioned that could potentially conjure such spontaneous anger was the sith war, but that was over and done, was it not?*

*Turning back to Dante, he caught the mention of a mining company and filed the information for later use. He would need the services of a mining company if his recent business ventures were to flourish, and perhaps this man could provide those services. He held his peace though, and raised his sword to begin, but paused when Xeonon proposed a three-way duel. Lowering his sword, he addressed Dante.* "Perhaps it would be best if myself and the knight were to spar, while you observe and instruct."

"Indeed. It would go a long ways to measuring the two of you...besides the fact, I have a small piece of business to attend to."

*Hopping off the platform, Dante casually tossed the training blade to Xeonon, and gestured to the platform.*

"The rules: don't break bones, don't kill, and don't cause permanent damage. Anything else goes."

*Walking a ways away, Dante picked up his comm, and began to make a few calls - though was careful to keep an eye on the two duelists.*

Re: Academy Main Building

"How do you expect anyone to learn if they're not compelled to excel?"

Alkor moved nonchalantly into the instruction area, a single beskad hanging from his right hip in a leather strap, the black hilt of his saber hanging just behind it- the pecking order of weaponry in the Watchman's arsenal. He had dismissed his robes in favor of going shirtless, bandages wrapping the majority of his lower torso, caked in blood from where wounds had reopened and closed over the course of time.

His distant, empty cerulean eyes moved over the two men present; he had come in at the end of the conversation thus far, not picking up on who the other men were or exactly why they were there. But Dante had asked him the favor of coming here and, at the behest of Matango, as well as a certain degree of interest of his own, Alkor had agreed. And in accordance with the duties he had been asked to perform, he knew what these men wanted.

To learn. To become something greater. To tap into their potential.

And Alkor and Dante were, at their Core, men who knew how to grab hold of the spirit and wrest it free. Whether through trials or through beliefs, the two men had found their common ground on the battlefield, and where others stepped into that realm, they could recreate those selfsame circumstances. And these men could stand to benefit from their wisdom.

Dante preferred the gentler method of easing men into a new comfort zone, it seemed; Alkor was highly inclined to disagree. His eyes blinked slowly, and his consciousness silently, imperceptibly brushed over surface thoughts as he probed around for any sort of give.

He cocked an eyebrow slightly at the Imperial Knight's random bout of homosexuality, but otherwise remained stoic. Alkor's gaze shifted to Dante, and he folded his arms.
"Sorry I'm late. Its been a while since Yavin; good to see you, Dante."

Re: Academy Main Building

*Idly, Dante shook his head at the introduction of the new voice...without lifting his head, Dante slowly answered.*

"First, we have to know WHERE they need to excel. Once we have that, we'll push them to their limit...take it slow at first, get them familiar, confident, and then..."

*Dante shrugged.*

"Push them until they break."

*Turning Dante appraised Alkor with a critical eye. Seemed Alkor was going with a shirtless look nowadays...those nasty bandages of his still being wrapped around his chest.*

"Besides the fact, I'm not sure of the Grandmaster is here for the right reasons...*dante dropped his voice low enough so the two could only hear*......"

*With a wary glance at the grandmaster, Dante only shook his head as the two began warming up. And eyeing the mans bandages, shook his head once more.*

"Oh, and LATE? More like; "Hello, I karking fell off the face of the GALAXY for eleven days, and then decided to randomly show up after everyone thought I was dead."
