OOC: Oh, I totally agree with the fact he shouldn't have been able to escape. One liners don't cut it for me. But a even with a 4000 meter ship, you couldn't cover all escape vectors from a planet, no matter how you do things. It's not the case of tapping a few extra keys, and I think things would have been roleplayed a lil better.
For example. He escapes in his one line post. Okay, we can deal with this. It doesn't stop you from interacting within that time period of him moving to escape. You can find someway of detecting him then, and since Gravity Wells are still up, it would take him extra time to be able to jump to lightspeed. You roleplay a sensor ensign or who have you and somehow, legitimately (and not using OOC information IC), come to the conclusion that this anomally is an actual spaceship, and since it's cloaked it must have someone real important on board. You therefore roleplay repositioning your fleet appropriately, send out fighters (with your capital ships constantly relaying the where-abouts of this anomally) to intercept, plus tractor beams and the like. Then you PM him letting him know that you've interacted with him, and that it's his turn to post.
That would have been a better way of doing things. You could even do it now, because you fleet is still there, right?*
