We'll start with the obvious: Since when do the Guilds have the right to punitive measures? Do these measures affect nonguild members? The wording certainly seems to point to that, and the threat to lock people's threads could do it. Please explain.

No, that has never been the case and was confirmed when I left the Guild and highlighted it. The Whills (I cannot remember which) confirmed it

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

But is that how things stand now? Because they've been doing Sithspit that could affect non-guild members. Locking threads, for instance. Locking down every business on a faction's planets, for instance.

(i.e: The Republic controls Naboo, Coruscant, Mon Cal, etc... all businesses on those planets will be locked.)[/quote:13y8kap3]

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

Well to put it bluntly they shouldn't and if they do it to any non-Guild member they should be roundly ignored by said player. Membership to the guild is optional not mandatory, so their influence only extends as far as those who choose to subscribe to it.

But that possibility exists. I'll be my left photoreceptor that some jerkoff is going to come in and rant about the chances of that happening being slim, but that's not the point. When the potential for a kriff like that exists, any chance is too much.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

Piggy backing on ths...

In response to the aptly named "JVS Punitive Measures" are you saying here : that a mandalorian MUST give me their Beskar weapons and such? Their most sacred and protected tech that is only supposed to be for mandos?

I mean, I want a Beskar suit as much as the next guy but that seems a little... wrong... That being said, the same can be stated for other canon companies who made stuff specifically for their faction, no way would lets say... idk... Jedi giving lighstaber construction specs to everyone who asks for it, this is obviously an exxageration, but I believe the message is still clear. How will the Council rule on those "special" items being given to anyone who asks for them?

We're not saying that a Mando, Vong or Chiss has to give their stuff over. I fail to see where those exact words have come up in the link you have posted. Let me tell you this right now to snuff this fire, it's still in the works. Voice your concerns in the players area and help us make it better, rather than throwing a childish temper tantrum and leaving the players guild in protest.

Talk with us, and changes will happen. I can assure you.

Much like homeopathy and cold fusion, the evidence doesn't support your claim. That's why it's getting taken to a higher level.

That's the part TIM was referring to. It basically gives anyone and everyone free license to head to Csilla and demand we sell them a Chiss Star Destroyer and ten thousand charrics. And the part right after it does nothing to clarify what circumstances would allow a refusal.

And maybe talking with the general public [i:23x7dy0n]before[/i:23x7dy0n] instigating site-wide changes is a better course of action than throwing changes at us and then telling us to come to you.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

The evidence you've listed Eralam, is what could happen if you refuse to collaborate because of something OoC or IC, to show what happens when you decide not to play nice with something that not truly yours. The Whills know what's going on in our council, they would've put a boot down quicker than you could've imagined if they didn't like what they see. In my eyes, it would've been better to take it to us so we could solve the problem rather than putting it on someone's elses shoulders.

And I know that's what he was talking about Trask, that's why I told him to voice his concerns in the GRPEC players area. I'm doing what I can to ensure that canon takes priority, thus Mandos won't have to forge and sell their beskar to non mando players (If they want a bessie, it can be substituted for another metal. Easy fix. They want a true blue bessie, don a helmet and wave the mando flag.)

We've tried coming to you players in the past, with changes and such. And ever since then we've been taking flak because one person said something you don't like. Well, now it's better that you come to us with your concerns as we'll be able to process them more quickly rather than having to track you down and ask you what do you think is better. Far too time consuming, and frankly I have better things to do than listen to this same spiel all over again.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

Wrong.

kriff.

Answer.

You do not, under any circumstances, get to make sweeping site-wide changes without so much of a heads-up, and then act like the irate people that are very legitimately pissed off are wasting your goddamn time. The guilds are supposed to be player organizations that give the populous a change to run the site, not an outlet for a few slabs of extra smelly wookiee cheese to throw their weight around.

If that slides, so help me God I will do everything in my power to make the GRPEC useless.

So now instead of coming too the players. you make decisions anyway because the councils don't like it when the normal people have issue with changes?

The Whills have nothing and should have nothing to do with the Guilds, the Whills are the unbiased judges and administrators if the site, the Councils are what regulate the players themselves and should ONLY EVER ACT WITH THE APPROVAL OF THE POPULACE THAT THEY REPRESENT. The Whills should not even be involved with this decision and they should be unbiased. I believe Eralam brought this here because he believed that the Councils are so stuck on their decisions they are unwilling to compromise and change their newly implemented system. It is only right then to go to the highest power and have them act as the final judge on the difference between what players want and what the councilors want

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

You don't have to chase us down Varro. A simple "Hey guys, we're thinking of implementing some changes, and here's what we have so far" thread would do fine. That way people who don't like it or want input can politely express their opinions on the changes and they can be refined with non-guild player input before implementation. And those who can't remain polite can be locked out of the thread.

It's honestly just that simple.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

I wish it were Trask, however people who can't get their noses out of their own stool make our volunteer jobs worse off than ever before. Not saying you are, since you're trying to help. I will do my best to make sure that happens, however don't expect me to put up announcements/ mass PM's and such to get your attentions if any further changes come up. I will simply direct you to the thread with our ideas and say keep it civil.

That I promise you, will happen.

I saw his reasoning, however in my eyes it's better to sort the problem out with the people supposedly at fault, before turning to a higher power to be the judge of what's right and what's wrong. The Whills are a last resort in this situation, and should always be. They want you to sort your stuff out [i:2aquu0it]before[/i:2aquu0it] you come to them because Johnny Bravo spilled your milk. That's why I am firm in the stance of coming to us, before involving the Whills in something that they'll believe is blown way outta left field.

Eralam, we gave you the heads up. A long time before it happened, we also gave you the chance to voice your concerns. I'm unsure as to if that threads still open here in the CTW, but TIM's opened another one in the GRPEC Player's area. I would tell you to post your concerns there, however you left in what to me seems like a ragequit. So please, be kind and rewind.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

Every time a concern has been raised, the response has been "Deal with it." So frankly, I have no trust in your council's ability to tell your assholes from your elbows, much less solve a problem of your own making when you clearly haven't figured out what all the fuss was about up to this point anyways.

Seriously, it's like the pope's wookiee. There's no kriff point.

In virtually every organization ever, when a level of leadership fails to address the concern, the concern is taken to the next highest level. In this case, the Whills.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

My response has not been "Deal with it", in fact I'm saying voice your concerns in a calm and civil manner and we will deal with it. I know what the fuss is about, I want to hear your concerns. Saying my comrades and I can't tell the difference between our assholes and elbows, goes to show that you have no concerns and are simply arguing for the sake of arguing.

Two sets of eyes are better than one.

I'm pointing to every issue raised since they closed the bank, and how every time the response has been an overwhelming "meh." Be a lazy git and dismiss this thread if you want, but the issue has been raised with the appropriate authority. You sir are clearly not it.

Because I'm on the wrong account, My words are pretty much ignored and I am judged to be a lazy git?

Yet how exactly am I being lazy when I'm trying to work things out in a peaceful manner? How am I lazy when I'm doing the best that I can to make the RP here more fun and worthwhile? Please, tell me how I am being lazy.

Re: Pardon the Interruption...

I knew you were a councilor. I'm still saying you're the wrong authority.

You and everyone involved with the "Let's make sweeping changes and hope no one complains policy" have been astoundingly lazy. Too lazy to do some basic research on what might happy, too lazy to find out what people might think about it before said sweeping changes, and too lazy to even ask after the fact. The only effort you've put in thus far is to be offended.
