Planetary shields are not invincible by any means otherwise war would literally be pointless. Each one of the 168 turbolasers on the Mishmure's can punch through the shields of a 10km long Grade III battlestation...i'm pretty sure they will start doing a number on the shields. It may take a little time granted...but they would smash it down.

Battlestations shields can not by anymeans be compared to City shields. Also An entire fleet of ISD's plus a SSD couldnt take down these exact shields on Hoth they had to go dow and take care of them, on foot.

So it looks like there has come a Whill ruling on the Shields topic Raven. If you want, we can take it to the GRPC, or we can collaborate OOC and figure things out.

Those shields also had the entire power reactor of a Star Cruiser, something more than half the length of the Executor devoted to shields that are covering a puny area compared to a city. The Hoth base was what? 10 kilometers square? being generous...and a city is like what? hundreds or thousands...and the reactors arent 3 kilometers in size.

Of course u are right but it wouldnt be that small cause it would in no way shape or form be able to cover the area it does so it would have to be considerably bigger and stronger so it could hold up as well as the one on Hoth did

I would much rather collaborate with you on the matter because in my opinion when u go to GRPC u just get a bunch of mixed opinions and it turns into a cluster Kriff of idea's that we dont need, that will only do one thing, it will only leave us angry now not only would we have to wait for each other to get online, we will have to wait for the councilors and to be honest its summer, so it will just drag on an on and on, then we will both be pissed that we had to wait so long and we will just want to finish up the RP without making it any fun for anyone.

The shields have to be able to get knocked down. Otherwise considering it is a City Planet...there would literally be no way to get troops to the surface. Shield generators covering greater areas are inherently weaker systems becuase thier energy is spread out more.

I don't care about the whole "they were put up automatically or no they werent argument". There are explanations for both, but as long as the shields can be knocked down.

Since it is a city planet there really isnt open terrain, unless they slipped it in somewhere.

Re: IC disputes settled OOC

Well, the capital is the major hub of importance (equivalent to Coruscant's Galactic Senate & Jedi Temple area). Open Terrain would mean the rest of the eucemenopolis, in addition to Taris's lake.

Regardless, no shield is impenetrable, and shields cannot be put up indefinently. On the Hoth System, not only did the shield cover a greater area, but it was on a desolate system. In Taris, there is a constant need for the flow of commerce. If you have a shield up that deflects solid particles, then it would be nearly impossible to strangle the capital area from the rest of the planet.

Additionally, the shield generator used in Hoth emitted a ray shield, not a particle shield. You can figure this out because the Imperial forces were able to land outside the shield and move in, whereas the laser bombardment was deflected. By that logic, missiles should be allowed to pass through because they are solid objects.

The rest other sections of the city, i had added in the Capital area. (Undercity, lower city Etc) The open terrain is just a giant ocean. And u could land outside the shield as the the shield can only really cover the important places as said by the whills. But as far as i have seen in every battle u need to destroy the shields before u can actually Bombard the planet, unless u are bombarding the open terrain. This is just what i have seen.. We had to do it when we attacked Keldabe in the attempt to kill prudii. We also had to do it when my faction recently attacked zhar, etc etc.. City shields are gonna be strong enough to defelect fire from your two fleets and ifthey could withstand the fire power of a Armada of ISD's and a Executer SSD that is my view on the situation

Re: IC disputes settled OOC

Actually my 4 big ships alone have a fleet of 20 ISDs outgunned by a whole 1/3rd with just the big guns. Not counting the rest of the weaponry. So the combined fleets actually outguns the fleet (including the Executor) that was sent to Hoth, and you're shields have to cover more area making them much weaker. And that is just the primary energy weapons not counting the missile launchers.

Contrary to popular belief, planetary grade shields can be broken if enough firepower is brought to bear against them. And considering that you specifically designated a shield generator that means that such a shield generator covering more area is going to be weaker to start with, and then having to hold off more energy. The chances for it failing is much much higher.

And keep in mind that none of these ship classes even existed when Prudii claimed leadership. The capabilities of the Mando Fleets has been...impressively upgraded shall we say.

OOC: first off there was no holo image, second. It was a droid that was being spoken to, so you really couldn't see that it was a bratty kid. It may sound like it but you cant see it, so just thought I should put that out there next time you decide to post..*

Gotcha. It only sounds like a bratty kid.
Magical droid that says it's powerful. Makes it even more ridiculous, haha

And I already have that post up, unfortunately, waiting for admin (Whill) permission to approve it, somehow permission to post has been suspended, you know anything about that?

EDIT: In my own defense it was late when I was posting, I mis-read it, I guess.

Howdy. Is this planet open for regular RP?
