Re: Open Orbit

At the systems edge of the system was a direlect battle station left over from the occupation of Alderaan by the Sith. Owen had ordered Jason to redo the defenses and try and get an early warning system so that if something happened the defense forces would be able to be ready for whatever came. This hadn't worked exactly as planned but Jason and the remaning defense force had managed to hide what ships remained of the AODF. The bulk of the defense force was in open space outside the system and had been there for months. Supplies and other things needed had been shipped back and forth with shuttles while defense forces stood by waiting for the orders to come back. When Alderaan fell most of the fleet was destroyed in the retreat, what ships that were left had taken weeks to get back to full status.

Jason knew that the situation wasn't the best. His men had been stuck on station for long enough to drive any rational man insane. But these men had something to fight for, something to keep them sane and something to drive them forward. The wish to reclaim there home. So they had searched the outer rim of the system for any of the derelict battlestations, for weeks StealthX's and the two stealth shuttles that remained combed the area looking for cloaked stations with no succeess.

(OOC: Just so there is no confusion unless stated otherwise this is all before present time.)

Two months before present date. Ghoul Flight on recon patrol on Alderaan systems edge.

-:Ghoul 3:-
::Lead I have nothing on my sensors. Are we sure that this that this wasn't a wild goose chase either? I mean the last four locations that Greyland and Lios have come up with were wrong and the one before this was already destroyed.::

Kia Thomas frowned at her sensor readout and sighed softly as her instruments showed the same thing. She sighed softly as he glanced around at the stars around her and shook her head sligtly.

"Ki... we aren't going to find anything... but I can't let them know this. Morale crashes and so do we... Admiral Greyland was right on that at least."

She switched the comm frequency to the private on the Ghouls used.

-:Cut the chatter, we have a mission to do and besides with the info that they got la-:-

Her voice was drowned out by an excited tone of the youngest member of their flight.

-Ghoul 4-
-:Lead! I have something, for a split second I saw something off my starboard wing. I am pretty sure its the battle station.:-

Kia bit her lower lip as she considered the possibilities and weighed the possible consequences. The Mando's had yet to actually find them this far out but that was only because they had yet to attract attention to their position. If they started sending out general codes that they needed to confirm the battlestations presence then the Mando's could trace it and hit there last strong hold area. She sighed again before finally cussing softly under her breath and keyed the command for the identification signal to be broadcasted in her area. A few moments passed and she hit her console out of frustration. She was about to order her flight back to thefleet before she heard the soft tone of her console alerting her that the station had accepted her docking codes and was transmitting docking information to her console.

"By the force...."

She grinned slightly as she swung her fighter around and brought her fleet home with the good news.

One and a half months before present date. Battlestation Horizon, Command center.

Jacob Lios stood looking at the sensor readout of the padd he felt and frowned slightly as he inspected the results. The fleet had lost nearly four ships in total, several capital ships and nearly four squardrons total. They had salvaged another two squadrons worth of fighters from spare parts and things they had managed to procure from the CUF before they pulled out as well. They had a big enough assault force to attack and retake Aldera and other key points of the planet but no way to deliver them. And to make it all worse Greyland was still in the Medical ward unable to move from the damage to his legs and Trayt was in a coma from injuries in the retreat. The largest problem was that after a skirmish with a small fleet of pirates the fleet had been forced to flee the area and jump to hyperspace. Most of the ships had juryrigged hyperspace drives and the only one that didn't, the Pheonix was remaining with the fleet as it attempted to return to a position where they could provide support. Jason had assumed command of the battlestation but with all that was going on he was in just as bad as shape as fleet. He had lost contact with his lover and their son as well as the fact that he was sure that he could of prevented this.

-Voice-
"What is the status today? Anything new?"

Lios turned his head and saw a man wearing black Jedi robes walking towards him slowly. He almost couldn't recognize his childhood friend anymore, Jason had stopped caring for his appearance since the fall of Alderaan and it showed. His robes were tattered and his full beard now was unkept, but his eyes still showed a fire that had existed since the attack began.

-Lios-
"No sir, we have began another low power sensor sweep of the system and it seems that the Mando's still haven't detected that we have tapped into the planatary sensors. But other that passive scans we cannot risk anything further than the minimal information from the weather stations in orbit. Glad they dont consider them a tactical threat and changed all the access codes."

Jason nodded without paying attention and his eyes turned to the sensor read out.

-Jason-
"Anymore word from the fleet or the CUF?"

-Lios-
"None, they probably believe us dead. We are still trying to bring the long range back up but until the fleet arrives all we have is short range. But I do have good news. We finally were able to get the main data core back on line, bathing areas, food generators, everything. Its back online. Also we were able to get into the archives and find out what happened to the battlestations in this area before we lost contact with them."

Jason nodded slightly for him to continue.

"The Mando's blew an EMP right at the heart of the line and disabled them, then they boarded all of the battlestations, killed the crews and left bombs for us when we came back. Thankfully we found the bomb and disarmed it, and we found the location for two other stations. We are going to prepare both stalth shuttles with StealthX flights. With your approval sir."

Jason nodded again before leaving the command center again. Lios sighed softly before turning back to his padd and began to make the plans for retaking the stations.

Re: Open Orbit

*Time and space rippled as a gravitational anomaly extended towards the planet of Alderaan. Dovin basals, essentially organic engines that relied on gravity for propulsion, locked onto the planet and proceeded to pull two living ships out of the corridors of darkspace and into the Alderaan system. Two matching miid-ro'ik warships, the and Echo of Damnation, rapidly decelerated as they neared the planet. Each of the two organic crafts were covered in a series of glossy dark strikes, which was in fact a form of armour literally excreted from the yorik coral that comprised the hull of either ship. As for the yorik coral itself, it had been manipulated during the growing process, giving it a black hue as opposed to the common gray. These black sixteen hundred meter long sharks of the void neared the planet, though set a course leading them slightly passed it, angled towards the closest Deep Core hyperlane.* *Not the safest way to depart the system, but definitely useful in evading pursuit, especially as they had received a current set of star charts to lead them through the dangerous region of space. They had the Imperials to thank for that.* *Both miid-ro'ik remained just out of firing range of any emplacements that might be located near Alderaan's northern hemisphere. As a result, their yaret-kor were out of range as well; however, assault on the planet was not their purpose.*

*It was on Kessel where one former Mandalore, Malice Hingang, had informed a member of the Praetorite Elite that there were slaves waiting to be picked up on Alderaan. With their business on Bakura completed, the council deemed to send the fleet's two destroyer analogs to the system in order to recover the prisoners. Most would be given to Borgia the Hutt for sale in the flesh markets soon to be set up, though some would be used to replenish the Praetorite's own slave requirements. Unfortunately many of the infidels had a short expiration date under the harsh conditions they were forced into.*

*Standing upon the bridge of the Praetorite Command, Commander Alith Yin watched the planet through the main view spider. Blaze bug readouts blinked often and repeatedly, displaying biological data uploaded by the sensor nodes that were even now scanning the planet. A green blaze bug lit up, alerting the unusually youthful commander that the miid ro'ik's yammosk, Susan, was awake and alert. All dovin basals aboard the ship were slaved to her will, synchronizing their function in a way the Intendant could not even begin to fathom. He turned to one of the warrior caste operating the villip choir and offered the Yuuzhan Vong a firm nod of his head.*

*In Yuuzhan Vong* "Activate the oggzil and begin broadcasting on all spectral frequencies."

*Without hesitation the deck hand manipulated the villip choir, activating the oggzil attachment that allowed Yuuzhan Vong communication biots to interact with the heretical infidel dead machines. A blue flash of electrical current along the length of the oggzil's spine acknowledged that it was now prepared to transmit dialogue. Alith motioned for the villip operator to move aside and then slid into the cognition throne, interacting directly with the device. His words, spoken in plain galactic basic, were broadcast to the planet.*

:: This is Commander Alith Yin of the warship Praetorite Command. We have been informed by the honorable Malice Hingang that there are slaves awaiting retrieval upon the surface of this world. Prepare to receive yorik-trema... :: *He paused.* *They might not know what those were. Better to use infidel terms to describe their units, if only to avoid unnecessary confusion.* :: ...shuttle analogs, for procurement of all prisoners. That is all, Alith out. ::

*In truth it wasn't just shuttle analogs they were sending.* *Emerging from the coral reefs adorning the two miid ro'iks hull were a dozen yorik-vec (six a piece). Only three yorik-trema were sent along with them, all of which came from the Command. The fifteen freighter sized organic vessels formed a V shaped pattern as their dovin basals propelled them towards the planet, with the trema in the center and the vecs forming on either side and behind.* *As this was a semi-standard operation, no yorik-et were sent to escort the assault cruisers or shuttles, although there was a wing waiting on standby in either miid ro'ik. It was an unfortunate but necessary show of force. Since the attack on Rendili, which announced the Yuuzhan Vong as public enemies of the Republic, they could not afford to take risks in the Core anymore. The next time they came into contact with Republic forces, it would be bloody.*

*When the shuttles were all atmosphere bound, Alith opened a private channel to Cyrion Yin, the commander of the Echo. The two then began to converse in their native tongue, speaking back and forth about the latest reports they had received.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Having read the reports about the agreement brokered between the Executor and the Mandalorian, Alith was not surprised about the stipulation in regards to the children. Apparently Malice had insisted that any prisoner below the age of thirteen be left be so that they might be converted to the Mandalorian way of life. The Praetorite was not particularly picky when it came to slaves so they had no issue with that term. As well, the additional two thousand was not out of reason. Wherever the Praetorite set up shot, they usual drew the indigenous people into the ranks of their worker caste, thus making the most of limited resources. As a marauder force, they couldn't bring a full load of workers with them everywhere they went. Scrounging for resources was often a necessity. That they same might be true for others did not come as a shock.*

:: Understood. :: *Came Alith's swift reply.* :: We are prepared for fast extraction should there be a need to depart quickly. I am uncertain how familiar you are with the Deep Core, but there are a number of routes from this system into that region that would make pursuit difficult for any Republic vessels. Had we not been gifted with those star charts by an Imperial landowner in that region, we would likely not be operating in the Core at all. Too confined and heavily trafficked. The Outer Rim makes for better hunting grounds. :: *There was a pause.* :: If you are interested, we would be willing to share those charts with you. They are relatively up-to-date and may prove useful for your own comings and goings through that part of the galaxy. ::

*By now the V formation of shuttles had already breached the planet's atmosphere and were making their descent towards Aldera. They disappeared from orbital sight completely as they dipped below the cloud line of the remarkably well persevered world.* *Many Core worlds, being heavily visited, had been exposed to a fair share of industrial pollution. Coruscant being a notable example. However, Alderaan had managed to maintain its lush and lively aesthetic, uncompromising its principles despite possessing a great deal of exploitable resources.* *Even Alith, still seated in the villip choir's cognition throne, couldn't help but admire the blue and green orb spread out before him.*

Re: Open Orbit

*After the coral crafts returned from the surface of Alderaan, the two miid ro'ik began to make preparations to depart the system. All vessels were returned to their respective berths, crewman waited at their stations, and the commanders of both vessels finished conversing over the villip and seated themselves in their cognition thrones. Dovin basals propelled the organic warships away from the planet, turning them around even as they pushed off the planet's gravity well. Coordinates were programmed into the navibrain and a path through darkspace was opened up. With a streak and a flash of brilliant light, the Praetorite forces exited the system via lightspeed travel.*
