Navos Government Facility

*The Navos Government Facility is a circular, white building with eight spires. This building houses the shield generator that protects the city.*

*This building was previously known as the Navos Center for the Performing Arts. In 40 ABY it was the headquarters for the Tralus Ground Occupation Forces, housing the city's shield generators. It was destroyed in the Battle of Tralus. It has been rebuilt to serve the planet as a governmental headquarters.*

Re: Navos Government Facility

*Acting on instructions from Governor Durron's office, the regional taxation chief for Rellidir ordered a new census of the city, to better determine who lived and worked in the city, and from that mapping, provide recommendations for the optimum tax rates. Always the Tralus officials sought to balance raw numbers and percentages against what people could actually pay, and against what would raise the most revenue without stifling trade in the Corellian Sector.*

*Towards this goal, twelve census inspectors were hired, and dispatched into the city, to compare records against reality, and to urge the good citizens of Tralus to honestly complete both their census forms and their annual tax forms. The burden was light, if everyone in fact paid their share.*

Re: Navos Government Facility

*With the massive military refitting and resupply operation which had consumed Tralus's airspace and attention for the last few months now completed, the local government officials were left to count their blessings and grievances. Without question the military spending (and the presence of a few hundred thousand of the Galactic Republic's finest) had boosted the local economy in immeasurable ways. But there had also been a certain small percentage of crime, two incidents of fuel pollution, several minor air crashes, and enough disruption of normal space travel paths to warrant dozens of complaints from self-centered businessmen whose shipping was delayed or sent to the wrong port.*

*The clerks and paper pushers in Governor Durron's office sighed and sipped stimcaf by the gallon as they waded through the mountains of extra paperwork that had been sent their way. They did not mind having jobs, for they were well paid, but it was still somewhat frustrating to count up the benefits and losses and find that the project had not been quite as big a profit as they had been promised by the politicians. Then again that was always how these deals worked out in the end, wasn't it? You only heard about the good parts at campaign season.*
