*Grinning the whole time even when punched his his shoulder covered in Plastoid* Apparently it is hilarious and had its effect on you, laughter is the best way to calm yourself. *He could still hear a tone of something in her laughter, fear maybe but hell both of the were scared he just hid it beneath his male bravado.* Im pretty sure we are all Nuking Futs all four of us but the insane one is not here so we have the luxury of being the worst ones. *As he said this Finnick looked around the hull, erm belly of the beast they were in. Everything seemed to be bathed in an amber light coming from pulsating lights along the side of the vessel. Then it registered in him that, what he was looking at was the life blood of the animal.*

Re: Open Orbit

*The vibrations of super-sized blaster shots pinging off or being absorbed by the shields or hull was simply delicious. No one could see it, but every time another powerful weapon struck and shook the ship, the she-devil could not help but grin widely. Roses may have been her idiom, but potential death, that rush as the living tried to snuff you out -now that was the high that no drug could ever provide. Each hit altered the trajectory of the ship slightly, and so the Mistress of the Undertakers had to direct her attention to using stabilization thrusters -a whole different system from the engines- to finesse the graceless Venator into a correct path. One of the screens grunted a warning, the overcharged shields had taken the brunt of the Republic's counterstrike and had been reduced to about 60 percent. This outdated vessel had never been designed to operate in this improvised manner, and so the heat produced by the overpowered shields, and from the blasts of the enemy, caused a consequence or two. Wiring heated up like eggs thrown against twin suns, and the gravity control console popped and fizzled like a firecracker. Whatever engineering bay down below that actually contained the mechanism was now an inferno -something quite unlucky for any soul working down there. This could be felt across the Venator, but especially in the bridge and in the hangers, where starfighters, equipment, corpses, and operators began to float up off deck without discrimination. If the Vong ship wasn't clamped down to the deck, then it too would float. On the bridge, the ghouls strapped into the chairs, and those too slow just moaned while bouncing off walls, buttons, and screens. For the girl-wonder, it was a chance at graceful dancing.*

*Meanwhile, the other ship, which had not been prepared for such a heavy attack, didn't fair as well as the lead ship. The shields of the second Star Destroyer managed to take a few strikes, but then that inevitable static and fading occurred, and the next turbo-blast managed to lash out against the bow. A hyperbolic explosion was the result, due to one the main guns and its ammo getting caught up in the blast. Fires broke out, realized they were in space, and choked out, giving the appearance that little flashlights were turning on and off in the mess of twisted and charred super-steel. However, the comrade ship was far from down and out. It was still operational, and that fact was about to become very painful. Two of the N.O.E X-wings had been bested already while closing the gap to the C. Tracers, but the rest proved to be far more effective, and threatened to ace a number of the Republic starfighters if they didn't form up and deal with their collective threat.*

*Speed would prove to be the most important thing in this universe, at least for this story, because both Star Destroyers had yet to falter, they now both were passing on the side of the fleet, and that could only mean one thing: FULL BROADSIDE ATTACK! What did this mean for the Republicans? A total of 15 main cannons were aiming in unison at the Coral's Gem. A small moment passes where another blast hits the lead N.O.E ship, this time bouncing off the shield as if deflected by a lightsaber but still causing damage to the protective bubble, then the turbo cannons fire with the collective perfection that higher consciousness could bring.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Inside the hangar of the Venator, the Vangaak carrying Jarulek, Finnick, and Faina began to feel the first affects of weightlessness. The heavy water trawler, ill-suited for life on land let alone a steel hangar, began to slide across the deck. Numerous tentacles lashed at the metal floor while the microscopic tendrils usually designed for propelling the creature through the water began to adhere themselves to the ground. A hard jerk nearly tossed the intendant from his seat as the vehicle's tentacles pulled taught. Growling beneath the cognition hood wrapped around his head, Jarulek stroked the chair's right arm, causing thorny protrusions to emerge from the hard organic cushions of the seat and embed themselves in his back, literally suctioning him in place while mildly feeding off his rump and backside. The rear compartment would have been similarly afflicted, the lambent lights dimming and then brightening with every jerk and shake.*

{{Just a bit of turbulence, nothing to worry about.}} *He said in a slightly distressed tone.* {{Hold onto any prayers for the time being. We may need them in a few moments.}}

*Truth be told, Jarulek was probably the only person aboard who prayed. He didn't take the Imperial Knights for the religious sort, any Force worshiping aside. He didn't really understand their relationship with it. That said...* *Reaching into his left pocket, the intendant retrieved a sheet of parchment containing a verse from one of the Priest caste's sermons. If the shaking and banging didn't stop soon, chances were he'd be reading it aloud in seconds.* *Here's to hoping the she-devil got them atmosphere-side. If she didn't, there was still a chance they could make it in the vangaak. It didn't have dovin basals, but it did have a yaret-kor that could be pointed and used as a form of propulsion, just as the yorik-et occasionally did. Combine that with the fact that the vehicle's interior was atmospherically sealed and it was certainly possible, just not very practical. Plus if they thought making sea-fall in the Venator's hangar would be rough, imaging doing it without. Naw, best to place your bets on Diva and hope for the best.*

A particularly violent lurch forces Faina to open her eyes again as she loses her grip on whatever it is that she had been gripping and she almost cries out in alarm but manages to keep from doing so as she is flung from her feet. Reaching out and, more due to luck than coordination, catching hold of another dangling bit of the thing it feels as though they are now being tossed around in, Faina almost releases her grip when she realizes she didn't have a chance to see if it was a dangly bit with teeth but, gritting her own teeth, looks up and sees no teeth and locks it in a death grip.[/action:sf37y24m]

*As the Vangaak began to lurch and shift Finnick reached up with his second hand and grabbed onto another appendage now with all his limbs firmly held in place only his steely resolve allowed him to hang on and not get thrown about. In his youth he would have been having the best time of his life this was such a rush, but now all he wanted to do was die with his feet on the ground.

It looked like Fiana was really coming undone the stress of the first mission, the face of a real threat and death was getting to her. His attempt to help her seemed to have worked for a moment but that moment was passed and now he had to think of a new way.*

Yes he sounds worried, you are defenitly worried, that crazy chick driving the metal coffin probably isnt and me well if I could I would Sithspit a brick. You need to calm yourself look inward and to the force for the peace. It is a Jedi thing to meditate but I find it helps in times like this, when you have no control over this. I think he just wants to get planetside like us and complete this mission. *Hopefully this blunt move would work, he had never meditated but he knew there was some merit in it. Releasing ones mind from the situation at hand and calming yourself is a gift not everyone could do but the Jedi seemed to have worked it out.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Finnick admitting that he is nervous as well, coupled with the fact that he has put his finger on exactly what it is that is at the heart of her unease - the fact that, at the moment, she has absolutely no control whatsoever of her fate - makes Faina relax slightly, enough that, after taking a deep breath, she nods and appears to regain a modicum of her more customary composure.* *Meditation is not something that her training included, nor does Faina think that she would be able to achieve anything close to the inner calm necessary to actually meditate, so instead she just tells herself that worrying is, at this point, a wasted and futile endeavor that will accomplish nothing and prevent her from thinking clearly when the time comes, assuming that they live that long, that she needs to be thinking clearly and calmly.

Fatalism is not a doctrine that she espouses or adheres to, but Faina feels it settling over her all the same; which, she finds, oddly enough makes her feel even calmer even though the thing they are in still bucks every now and then and she can hear the distant drumming of fire impacting against the Venator's shields and the thundering of the ship's guns returning fire at the Republic vessels they are hoping to escape from.

Thinking that talking might distract her, Faina, picking the wrong topic given her intentions, asks Finnick,*
"You ever done this before? Not the being inside something's gut part, but the waiting to see if you live long enough to make it to a planet's surface, or ocean in this case, part?"

*What an odd topic but hey it could be a good bonding situation so he recalled his past adventures.* Well there was this one time at band camp *A faint smile appeared on his mouth at the joke.* I played a game of tic tac toe. No I have never been in the belly of a living beast, inside a metal coffin that was supposed to go down on the planet. This is a first for me to but I have been in space combat before on a ship that was crippled that is sorta similar I guess.

Re: Open Orbit

*If this adventure took place in the second Venator, then it would be over. The hull succumbs to the gang bang of Republic big guns, medium guns, and little guns, and quick fires break out in a thousand places. The engines go, the defense turrets are melted, and flags are captured. Still, if you looked at the ship, it managed to retain the shape of a Star Destroyer, albeit a capital ship with jagged openings, miniature explosions, and ejected toilets. It would have been a sad moment, if anything worthwhile was in the ship. Luckily, only third party mercenaries and contractors were lost. Even better, Diva would no longer need to focus on controlling that ship, which was taking its toll on her vast reserves.

As the lead Venator, now the only one on the grid, entered the atmosphere, the shields overheated and sizzled away, in a few minutes, the ship would nose dive into a large ocean filled with soon to be made sushi and boiled treats. That was, of course, the would-be-girl's cue to rush over to the Vornak... Vertech.... Ver.... The Vong ship that was currently attached to the floor of the hanger. Good thing too, since gravity was now a factor again, except this time gravity was pulling everything towards the bow of the Star Destroyer. Using one the vents in the bridge, the manifestation of nefarious hatred climbed and climbed, until climbing out, dust cloud and all, into a maintenance hatch, and from there, crawled over the main corridor. The bodies had fallen and piled up against the door into the bridge, and once their collective weight bested that door, they piled up into the bridge as well. Looking down in the rumbling main corridor, she could see them all -looking like some painting of a juicy and gut riddled orgy, since the vibrations caused the mass of bodies to gurgle and tremble. This causes a wicked grin to break out on her face, and with that, she pulls out what appeared to be an sizable lightsaber hilt. Grasping the contorted, black grip, the demon aimed up the main corridor, which was now an effective elevator shaft, and pushed a button. With a "THHWIP" a length of cable flies upward about a hundred metres, and then the grappling hook on the end catches on something worth hanging onto. Another button press, and the grappling mechanism zipped the girl up at a frantic pace. Yet another chinning of a control and the hook detached itself, and she had to repeat this process . . . in free fall.

Further and further the ship dropped, now blazing on fire due to the friction. And a few moments into this drop, a grappling hook caught on the side of the Vong ship. A second later, Diva was propelled up and over the ship, taking her little tool along for the ride with a gymnastic spin, before landing boots-first onto the entrance of the rather ugly looking thing. This translated as a rather loud "THUMP" on the hull...er....skin, which was sure to make everyone inside happy.*

Re: Open Orbit

*Jarulek didn't so much sense Diva's arrival as he did feel it. No seriously, not through the Force or anything, but the landing of her feet on the actual floor. The Vangaak's sensor nodes were extremely sensitive, especially as it pertained to monitoring what was going on inside. His own body was left mostly to it own devices, ignored in favor of perceiving everything the water trawler felt first hand. With a single thought sent through the cognition hood on his head, the Intendant closed the rear hatch behind Diva, forming an air tight seal for the atmospherically controlled environment inside the living creature. Internal gills recycled the air, releasing a warm-almost-pungent scent throughout the interior.*

*For a non-Yuuzhan Vong it would probably come across as a somewhat offensive odor, but for the intendant it all felt completely natural.* *Jarulek grinned beneath the living mesh covering his face, mimicking the common humanoid expression for pleasure.* *Now he had some semblance of control. Not complete control, but more than he had possessed previously. They still needed to hit the ocean before things really took off.*

{{Glad you decided to join us, lass. Take a note from Finnick and Faina and hang on to something.}} *He sent a pulse through the Vangaak, causing the cultures beneath it to release their hold on the deck.* {{It only gets rougher from here.}}

*The water trawler slid across the deck, propelled by the G-forces of their descent towards one side of the hangar. Jarulek manipulated the vangaak's tentacles, clutching and catching occasionally to slow their slide and prevent the creature from rolling over onto its back. Several of the corpses from the hall had poured into the hangar, occasionally striking the hard outer layer of the trawlers carapace, one even winding up in its mouth. The Intendant fortunately had the good grace to active the creature's gag reflex, spitting out the cadaver so that it didn't pass through the organic vehicles food processing organs and end up getting mixed in with the fishy paste he intended to eat later.*
