An Idea for the War
There has been a lot of talk about how to spice things up for this war, some people have really supported some ideas and others have not, what I'm looking for is a compromise to let everyone win on some level so I came up with an idea.
I recently made two topics about lifting the ban on superweapons, you can find them and if you want to read up on what that discussion was all about. It was supposed to be a purely hypothetical discussion but it got me thinking of various applications we could use for it and creative doors it would open in open RP and me being the story man that I am started racking my brain to think of various situations that it would be acceptable to lift the ban no matter what the consequences might be and here is what I've come up with so far:
The story wouldn't center around any group here in JvS, everyone would have equal parts to play as far as we the writers go, however the central focus would be on a very unique species in the galaxy that hasn't been discovered yet...at least not by any modern groups. I know what you're thinking, no such species exists, how very astute of you...and you're right, they don't exist yet. Yes I said yet. That's because my idea is to make a bonafide JvS original species that has enough admirable properties to attract all parties for one reason or another. But where would this new species come from if all the planets are well known? Well that's a good question, and the answer is simple, along with the new species we create a JvS original world. Sounds crazy right? But you see where I'm going with this.
Here's a little bit of the history that I've established for this species and their world:
A long, long time ago....(couldn't resist)
JvS Planet was discovered by explorers and on this world were discovered a great many wondrous things, not the least of which was "Original species" who possessed several interesting traits. A natural force affinity which granted them the telepathic abilities (more on that later), they were photosynthetic, sentient, non-space faring, and natural pacifists. However none of these traits were their most interesting feature, that feature was their natural armor plating that covered protected them in many ways.
One of it's most impressive features was its natural stealth camouflage. It allowed them to remain nearly invisible when not in motion, however many things could reveal them such as weather or falling debris. Equally impressive was this armor's durability, it was discovered that this armor was strong enough to resist even a lightsaber strike and was known to absorb and neutralize environmental hazards such as electricity. Basically it was the perfect armor without me going on and on.
However, this species was often the target of poaching for their armor plating and soon they found themselves nearly extinct and in need of protection. The Jedi Council intervened to defend the helpless species from these poachers before it was too late to save them.
The details are a little fuzzy in this portion, I haven't quite outlined anything for this, not even a rough concept like the above so I'll just skip ahead to the end of the story.
Long story short, the galaxy was made to believe that the planet was destroyed, the planet itself is cloaked now (either by technology or a Fallanassi-esque force group), and the records of it have been destroyed by the ancient Jedi in order to protect the planet and its inhabitants forever. Now all that remains are myths and legends of the armor.
The IC JvS idea is that someone discovers the location of the planet and they start bidding the coordinates to several different factions, the one they of course sell them to being the Mandalorians who will use the armor in the Holy War.
Roles of course could go as follows:
Mandos and perhaps other interested parties are looking to use the armor against all force users.
The Jedi of course want to protect the planet and its species from this fate.
And the Sith could are have two possible motives, taking the armor for themselves, or destroying the planet (superweapon!!!) and thus the threat of it being used against them.
Now as for other parties, they would of course be welcome to join in and choose whichever side they want or have their own motives of course.
It isn't a perfect idea, in fact it needs work, but this is to get people talking about the possibilities here and maybe even get the ball rolling on a possible storyline of epic proportions that we have yet to see here on JvS. It's just something to tie into the Holy War and of course spice things up a little further. The thing that makes it so interesting to me at least is that it is high stakes for all sides, it is something that can allow destruction of an entire planet without affecting canon, and it opens the door for so many off shoot stories. It has real potential in my opinion to be a great story, it just needs work.
